They steal from my "way too early" version, make a couple edits and think that isn't ripping me off. Sadly, they admitted to me in private that is exactly what they are doing. Well, now, they will have to do their own research/work. I will continue to make ROMs for a league that I play in but unfortunately, I will not be posting here anymore. One jerk-off had to ruin this despite me asking for them to stop.
There are some good folks on this forum and then there are some that are lazy and disrespectful to requests. I'm done asking.
Take care.Sauce, on behalf of everyone here, I appeal to you, please reconsider. We shouldn't let 1 person ruin the community and your work. Everybody knows that you are the greatest contributor to the continually updated ROMs every year, multiple times per year. You are the one. And we all know it's your work. (I also enjoyed Naples' ROMs, and hope one day he resumes creating them). But you are the longest and most well-known. We shouldn't let 1 person ruin that.

Just for future reference, the Penguins #1 goalie is now Tristan Jarry as of the last 2 months. Murray has been pretty horrendous this season (and last season), allowing 3-4 goals a game, while Jarry has been tops in the league in every stat. Funny how things work sometimes.

Thank you for the music correction. I had been meaning to do this but it seemed a little too complex for me so I kept putting it off. I love naples' roms because gameplay is slightly slower which I think makes better and less arcadey. Though I have everyone else's roms too, I just play naples' much more. "When the saints go marching in" for Penguins goals just didn't seem right
and now I will always associate that song with Penguins goals....for the near future at least

Nice to see the beginning of the 2018 version. I just wanted to mention 1 very minor graphic detail. The Penguins "Pittsburgh" banner color on the main screen is still the 2000s color (beige), but on the pause screen during the game it is the correct (gold) color. Can this be changed to be the gold/black on the main screen? (Instead of beige/black). The logo is good, it's just the banner on the setup screen.

I think it would be cool to have a ROM of only Stanley Cup winners. Something like maybe the last 30 winners, or something like that. With such high ratings for all teams, it would be really competitive.

Hey, just wondering what will be done for next year since there will be 31 teams and the ROM only has room for 30. Have any ideas been floated around? Is there any hack that could allow for more teams to be added somehow? It would be awesome if we could have all the NHL teams plus an unlimited number of all-star teams of some sort. Is there any undiscovered way to do this possibly that can be looked into?

This is great! I prefer naples39's versions because the speed is slower, making it harder to score, I find. Plus, the slightly slower speed is more realistic, and less arcade-like.

Great work as always, naples39! Not sure if it's possible, but do you think you'll include any of these teams on the NHL '17 rom? It would be cool to have an all-star team or two on the NHL ROM.

You could hack it to play 4on5 every game but that still wouldn't make it difficult. There is pretty much nothing you can do to make the game difficult.
How do I go about doing this in the hex editor? I see that people have created 4 on 4, 3 on 3, 2 on 2, etc. I would like to do 4 on 5 or even 3 on 5.

Is there a way to make NHL '94 harder? Wish it had a difficulty level. Would like to give the CPU a boost somehow (without editing every player rating). Is it possible to hack to have me play 4 on 5 shorthanded the whole game, or something like that?

Okay guys, new ROM. I'll call it 1.2
-Pens uniforms - Black/home is retro style from my 89 ROM, white/away is modern style with pale gold
-Pens logo - still modern style with pale gold in menus (officially changes in 17!)
-WSH center ice logo - used the capitals text logo from my 89 rom
Thanks for the comments. I know the Caps text logo is what they use now on center ice, but I tried and failed to use it before. Didn't even think to check my old ROMs if I had acceptable version in there.
Looks good! Didn't expect a final update, so this was a surprise to see. Many thanks! I think the 89/92 ROM Pens aways jerseys are very accurate, so when the time comes for the '17 version, just need to use the code for those.

Yeah, at some point designing the jerseys with the all the limitations in 94 is more a matter of feel than accuracy. Like one version could be closer to actual arm stripes or whatever, but when on the ice it doesn't 'feel' like there's enough yellow in it, or whatever. I'll keep fiddling on the way NHL 17 release.
I think the Pens jerseys you have in your '89 and '92 Deadline ROMs were spot on. Same with the banner. I tried copying the hex code for those jerseys into the latest Deadline one, but the center ice logo was a bit discolored. Oh well. As far editing them for the '17 release, you can just lift everything from one of those 2 ROMs and good to go. I don't think it needs edited any more. Just wanted to mention also, the Washington Capitals logo with "Capitals" spelled out in center ice is the better one and the one most recently used.

For you Pens fans, here's a custom ROM that's my NHL 16 deadline ROM, but with the retro jerseys the Pens will be wearing next season (both white and black are in retro style/color).
Thanks naples39! Btw, I saw that you're a Flyers fan if I'm not mistaken. Well my first hockey jersey I bought was a Flyers one when I was 10 years old at a local store here in Pit. I wanted a jersey so bad, and the store only had Flyers and Canucks left (this was in days before the internet), so I bought the Flyers one.

Just downloaded your Deadline ROMs and just wanted to say they are amazing! I really enjoy all of your ROMs, naples39. Toning down the speed burst really makes it even more wonderful to play. Aside from the 2017 update, do you plan on doing anymore ROMs? Do you have any from any individual years in the 2000s aside from the past couple years? (I saw there were pre-lockout and post-lockout ROMs you created, which were also great).

I'm already doing some work on a NHL17 opening day ROM and already changed the Pens jersey colors for that version along with all the other updates. I like those retro colors much better too! I could send you guys a custom ROM if you guys really can't wait ~3 months for the new ROM, although it would technically be inaccurate for 16 so the ugly colors stay in the 'official' ROM.
Changing uniform design is pretty simple, but the uniform uses the same palette as the center ice logo. Thus when you change the jersey colors you have to re-import that center ice logo to match the revised palette. It's a 3 minute task.
Awesome! Would love to check out the custom ROM you mentioned if it's no trouble. Also, I'm kinda new modding and such, but downloaded NOSE and used that to edit previous ROMs a bit. I was just wondering if it's difficult to edit each team's organ music? The Pens default one seems to be the St. Louis Blues song and I just wanted to change that back to the original one from the original NHL '94 game, as that one is the one still in use. I downloaded a hex editor, so will try to figure that out.

Haha sorry! I got the modders mixed up and my first post was supposed to be for the modder in this thread (naples39). I realized this later, and posted in the correct thread.

You're correct. It is a bug in the original (and thus any subsequent mods). A couple times a year, my friend and I would play as teammates, and sometimes totally forget that when we won the 1st playoff game, it would switch to head-to-head. So we would just start over, and cycle thru the team that we thought would advance, and just keep playing that way for each round.
It's too bad, because it is a cool mode instead of always competing against each other.
