    why complain about the 5-8 rule now instead of 2½ weeks ago when it was announced ? It wasn't against anyone then as all positions were still open.

    I am not on the forum on a daily basis to monitor rule changes for a league during the season. The fact that there was a major rule change like that without PM's sent is crazy. Any major rule change should be done before the start of a season or atleast have some kind of vote. All that can be seen is that the guys seeded 1 and 2 made a rule change that gives them easier opponents. If you guys didn't like that then change the rule for GDL 11.

    Thanks Plabax for getting the site ready and starting the season! Here's some info for you all:

    • 56 Game Schedule (4 games against each team in your division, 2 against every other team in the league)
    • Top 8 teams from each conference will make the playoffs
    • DNPs will hurt your playoff chances and your Draft spot for GDL 11
    • The season will be 8 weeks long, which is about 7 games a week
      • Jul 14 - 7 GP
      • Jul 21 - 14 GP
      • Jul 28 - 21 GP
      • Aug 4 - 28 GP
      • Aug 11 - 35 GP
      • Aug 18 - 42 GP
      • Aug 25 - 49 GP
      • Sep 1 - 56 GP (season over)

    This schedule means we will finish the regular season around the beginning of September.

    I think you all know how to contact each other and play. If you're having trouble getting games in, please use the GDL website contact method to show you've made an effort. This will be used to evaluate final standings.

    If you fall too far behind and are unresponsive, you will be replaced. I really, really, really don't want to do this as this is a pretty good group of folks.

    Current waitlist is as below. These guys are all itching to get in and play (and they WILL play the entire season!)

    According to this post since I have sent messages to all the coaches I didn't play I should have 0 DNP, is this another phantom rule change too?

    So then do away with DNP points and have it so if you don't play 50 games you are not able to play in playoffs. You are missing the point like always, Freydey goes from missing the playoffs to a 6 seed, how is this fair to anyone he is ahead of (seeds 7 and 8).

    I guess I am not one for making up league rules during the season without some kind of vote. All I know is that Freydey whined his way into the playoffs while I drop a seed to a more unfavorable matchup to me because of winning % and not the points that were earned. If those guys slack than too bad, if kingraph has to face a top player in the first round, oh well. Although Freydey is obviously a much better player than me he didn't earn his way into the playoffs because he didn play enough games. There has to be some accountability here. There are 16 teams that makes the playoffs and if you can't make the top 16 you didn't deserve to be in the playoffs, no matter who you are.

    Personally I think Freydey is a great player and one of the reasons I enjoy 2 on 2 so much. I just don't think a league should have to bend over for any player.

    With a little less than 2 weeks left in the season (SEASON ENDS SEPT 1st!!!), here are the playoff scenarios.

    Points (after DNP) determine which 8 players will make the playoffs.

    Seeding: Seeds 1-4 do not change (determined by points, and top 2 seeds are division winners).

    Seeds 5-8 will be set by win percentage, to help eliminate any possible unfair matchups due to slacking/DNP.

    Once the playoffs start, there is no reseeding.

    While the top 4 seeds have home ice advantage, they can play as the away, if they choose to do so.

    FINAL STANDINGS

    I really am stunned by this.... How I read this is...

    Kingraph doesn't want to play freydey in the first round so he found a way to manipulate the standings for his benefit. Seeds 5-8 determined by win % and not points, that's insane. There is no way that everyone could be onboard with this... Come on. Had I known this ahead of time I wouldn't have played my last 10 games or so and just kept the high winning % I had.

    No league can have the final 4 playoff seeds determined by some factor after the season is over (win %) when every season in the past is points (points minus DNP).

    We had numerous problems with him over multiple Classic seasons. Here are a few big ones:

    Spring 2010: Houli chooses SJ in GENS-B and SNES-A. Then he abruptly quits the season before 2 weeks are up.

    Fall 2011: Picks VAN for GENS and BUF for SNES. During team switch time, he changes both to NYI. After team switch is over and the season is about to begin, he asks me if he could have MTL. I say no, since it is not fair to anyone else as the team switch time has passed. He calls me a bad admin and says he is not going to play the season. I told him I'll give him a week to change his mind. He then goes to play someone with the intent of playing league games, loses both games, and tells the coach its only exhib because he isn't playing in the league this season. This leads to banning.

    Spring 2012: Creates a new user name on nhl94online and on nhl94.com. Claims to be a new coach and needs a test game. Chooses OTT as his first team. We find out (there are ways...) and delete the account.

    There's the facts. I have no personal problem with Houli. I have played against him in Blitz and have never had a problem playing a game against him. I have no problem playing against him in another league, and it's up to the other league admins to let him play in their leagues. But he will not be playing in Classic again for a long time.

    Wow, after reading this, there is no logical reason to bring him back.....

    Although there are times when he gets so annoying that I have to block him I will give him credit for always being one of the guys who finishes his games. I wouldn't have any issues with him being allowed back knowing any B/S he causes would be an immediate boot from the league.
