  1. It's been a little over a week now since the season started, and while not a lot of games got played, the only concern I have is that two teams (TOR + VAN) haven't yet played a game. I was waiting to see how fast games were getting in before I set deadlines, so here they are:

All Coaches must have 10 games (40% of games) played by Feb. 8th (2 Weeks from today.)

Anybody who doesn't meet the deadline are subject to the following:

If you have less than 6 games played (20% of games), you will be replaced ASAP unless you get enough games played before I replace you.

Let's see how this goes guys, I feel i'm being a tad generous (3 weeks to play 6 games). Hopefully play picks up a bit.

  2. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me our friends over at NHL 2004, would get sued or threatened by Doucebag Electronics (EA).

Even tough they don't bother adding all the details those guys do (Not having stupid ugly generic goalie masks is a nifty touch)

NHL 2004 was made by EA....what are they gonna do, sue themselves?

  3. In GENS, essentially the weights are "reversed" or the opposite of what they're supposed to be.

What this means is that lighter players can knock down heavier players, instead of the other way around. This is what makes Jeremy Roenick such a beast: Because of his light weight, it's incredibly hard to check him.

Most leagues have this fixed in their ROMs (Thanks to some work by Smozoma), although some (Classic LG) have it intact.

  4. This is for GENS, but I assume the same applies to SNES.

People talk about ratings being 0-6 because that's how the game handles them, not 0-100.

    Here's how it breaks down:

    0 - 25-29

    1 - 29-38

    2- 38-47

    3- 47-62

    4 - 63-80

    5- 81-98

    6 - 99

Not sure how hot/cold streaks affect this.

  5. Conference Change

Rather than having 2 conferences, both conferences have now been lumped together as one, henceforth called the Smevan Conference.

    Schedule Change

You play every coach 4 times, 2 home/2 away.

    Results

Log games in the Results subforum.

    Misc.

Houli has changed his team from Edmonton to Anaheim.

Good Luck to all coaches, ROM is at the bottom of this post.

  6. Home Team is first

    TOR 3 PIT 2

    TOR 2 PIT 4

    PIT 3 TOR 6

    PIT 4 TOR 2

NOTE: A closed topic indicated that the games have already been logged.

  7. I vote for the star!

I abhor the circle, it makes it look like the player is floating on a hoverboard.

...Ah crap, now I will never be able to unsee it. GG.

I change my vote to the star, which makes it the winner (5-0 for votes). Thanks guys.

  8. List of Players (Sorted so drafted players are at top of list) *Last updated at end of Round 5

You must draft 6 Forwards, 4 Defensemen, and 2 Goalies.

Italics - Deadline for pick (If you miss the deadline you are skipped and the draft continues as if you had picked, but you can make your pick at any time.

    Round 12

    1 - Winnipeg Jets - Tim Chevelade

    2 - Vancouver Canucks - Kirk McLean

    3 - Montreal Canadiens - Joe Nieuwendyk

    4 - Philadelphia Flyers - Mike Richter

    5 - Boston Bruins - Ron Hextall

    6 - Edmonton Oilers - Brian Leetch

    7 - Pittsburgh Penguins - John Blue

8 - Toronto Maple Leafs - Mike Vernon

  9. With the regular season merely days away (The ROM will be out almost immediately after the draft is finished), there are a few things I want to tell you guys about.

    1. The "check boost" has been halved.

What this means is that, in keeping with the spirit of slower gameplay, you can no longer catch Pavel Bure with Marty McSorely by simply mashing the check button. The boost that you get is now half of what it is originally. I've played a few games with this and I feel it's fairly perfect and also makes checking a bit more difficult.

    2. For the first season, games will simply be logged on the forum.

I aim to convert this league into a stats league for the second season, however for the inaugural season results will simply be posted on the forum in a Sub-Forum to be set up shortly.

    3. Coach voting.

Throughout this entire season, I will be making many different polls in which only the coaches may vote. This will be used to improve the League for the second season. The polls will range from making you guys happy (Trading + Mid-season Trade Deadline) to those that will make you throw eggs at me (OFFSIDES D:)

    4. All games can be played once the season starts/Schedule stuff.

There will not be any "games released every week" or anything like that, you can finish your whole season in a day if you really want to. There will be a deadline set for the regular season (It'll be around a month, this will be a short season), and any games not finished (which I doubt) will be resolved like so: Whichever coach has more games played is awarded to Forfeit Win(2 pts) while the other coach gets a Forfeit Loss (0 pts). If both coaches have the same number of GP, then both coaches are awarded a point. This system will only be used for this season (Everyone makes the playoffs anyways.)

    5. Coach Feedback

Last but not least, I want to hear from you guys. As you're playing your games, anything you can think of that could improve the gameplay, feel free to let me know about it. If it's a legit idea, I will put a poll up.

Thats all I got for you guys, let's get this draft finished up and start playing.
