All spots are filled, Draft order has been randomized and is as follows:
1st: Toronto
2nd: Pittsburgh
3rd: Edmonton
4th: Boston
5th: Philadelphia
6th: Montreal
7th: Vancouver
8th: Winnipeg
Remember, the draft IS snaking (The order reverse every round.)
I don't have the forum up just yet, hopefully Evan see my PM soon.
In the meantime, I don't see why we can't get this show on the road. Keep in mind that Shot Power/Accuracy, Pass Accuracy, and Speed for all skaters is reduced by 2. Goalie stats remain the same. If the attribute is already at 0, it stays at 0. Also remember The Weight-Bug is FIXED, so don't automatically assume JR will lead you to glory.
For now, there's no deadlines for drafting, just go when you see it's your turn. Let's begin the first round, either post in this topic to make a pick, or hit me up on AIM.
You must draft 6 Forwards, 4 Defensemen, and 2 Goalies.

2 Spots to go, and i'll try and get this draft rolling ASAP.

I think, for the first season, i'll sit this one out and just try not to run it into the ground.

Smoz has a good point. Everybody makes playoffs for this season now.

Info
After toying with the idea for awhile and testing it with a few random people around the community, I've decided to give this thing a shot. The first season will be largely a test, therefore it will be short (20 games). The idea is that the first season will be to gauge reactions to the gameplay so that, if needed, tweaks can be made.
Also, I plan to add different features in future seasons to keep the league fresh, and of course the league will be hugely expanded for the second season.
Season Info

Clearly you're missing out on the spirit of Beer League.
Grab yourself a cold one and getting scored on from 180 feet doesn't feel so bad.
-
Jrodimus gets booted off the playoffs due to conferences.
Shenanigans?
I cringed when I saw he only needed one more win to be in playoffs (Would have beat Carse in the tiebreaker because of season series). Especially on top of having one game left .

Very well run league, submitting scores is easy and everything is nicely organized, well done.

For the record, in hopes that it'll give me that extra competitive edge, i've switched from Molson Canadian to Kokanee as my game-drink.

couldnt agree more.
beer league is painfully slow, the 0'd rating make it so boring. id be interested in a equalized ratings league but only if there were all at 4 or 5 for every player and 6 for goalies. maybe off sides would be cool.
I'd just like to say again that I am NOT trying to recreate Beer LG; I agree, it was very slow (although I enjoyed it). The purpose of this league would be to slow it down, but of course it won't be as slow as beer LG. I'm gonna mess around a lot with this in the next little while to find a good balance, so the game is slower but not painfully slower.
Also the ratings wouldn't be equalized, they'd be equally lowered for every player, say -1 to speed for everyone for example.

I've been toying around with this idea ever since I came back and played in Metz's Beer League. For those of you that don't know, Beer League has all the player attributes (speed, shotpower, etc.) set to 0. What I really liked about this is that it slowed the game down a lot and made for some really interesting games, an example being taking a shot from the point (keeping it low, of course) would almost always result in a rebound (because of low goalie stats), which in turn resulted in some garbage goals on rebounds.
Now, what i'm proposing is to start a new league taking this concept and expanding on it a bit. The main changes would be:
Weight-Bug Fix - One of the best advancements in GENS play was this, and i'd fully intend to have it implemented so goons have their place.
Reduced Player Attributes - Every player in 94 would have their attributes reduced by the same amount. By doing this, the best players (Roenick, Bure, etc.) are still the best players; the pace of the game is slowed down. This does also include Goalies, making things like rebounds more likely. There a couple of attributes i'm not sure should be reduced, such as Agility, but this would be figured out later.
Besides these, there a couple other things I may or may not implement depending on how it turns out, such as:
Reduced Check Speed - I'm on the fence about this, but I think in order to even out the slowed down gameplay, the speed of a check would have to be reduced, ensuring that Bure can't just be caught by any player mashing the check button.
Line Changes/Longer Periods - Would only be implemented if there was a majority of the coaches wanting it.
I just want to gauge people's interest in this before I work on perfecting the idea. Again, this would be a slower, less "arcadey" game of 94.

Alright, our last 5 games of the season are agaisnt eachother, and I'll be on AIM pretty much all day, just hit me up when you see me.

Favorite way to score in Stanley Cup Hockey: Lob/Dump from center dot. 100% success rate, goalie comes out of his net (for some reason), puck goes over top of him and in.
-
Twice now my Leafers have been called for high sticking, all because a player on the opposing team decided to toss up his head when a stick got within a foot of him.
Lately i've been seeing a lot of calls like that, where the Ref will make a call based on a player's reaction rather than what they actually see.

I'm available all day Tomorrow, and all day Sunday.
Friday and Saturday I work so i will only be available nights.

For the record, the main thing is I want to get something started that gives something for leaguers something to do outside league play, but something that is pretty light in terms of games. I'll keep talking to Metz and see what happens.

What is it?
Classic 94 Championship is not a "league", and you don't have to be very active to take part in it; think of it as a side distraction to league play. It is a tournament of sorts, similar to boxing, that takes 2 weeks to complete and then restarts. All series follow a "one-game-knockout" format. We will use the classic NHL 94 ROM, and coaches play with any team they want (excluding all-stars). The number of games played in the regular season is exactly 40. Not 40 games per player, but just 40 games in total.
How Does THAT work?
Again, this isn't a "league". There aren't a lot of games to be played and it should be thought of as just a thing to play on the side. This is how it works:
There are 14 days in a season.
-The Check: At the end of every 2nd day of the season (Days 2,4,6,8 and 10) a check is made to see if all players in the Top 4 have played 2 games. If anyone hasn't, that coach is swapped with the last coach to play him
-The standings are updated every night.
-Days 10-12 (Final Four): During this time, coaches in the Top 4 are randomly matched up against each other in a one-game event. The two winners then play eachother, with the winner of that game advancing to the Championship.]
-Days 13-14 (Championship): During this time, the winner of the playoffs plays the Champion in a one-game event. The winner is crowned the Champion.
There are three positions you can be in: The Basement, The Top 4, and The Champion.
The Basement
-This is the starting/lowest position; You start in here when you join, you go here if you lose.
-Every coach in this position has a limit of one game every day, and this game is to played against a coach in the Top 4.
The Top 4
-Coach's in this position do not challenge anyone to games; they just defend challenges from coach's in the basement. Note: Top 4 Coach always gets home-ice advantage
-There is no ranking in the Top 4 (No difference from 1st to 4th), so it doesn't matter who you challenge from here.
-A coach who is challenged in this position and loses swaps positions with the Basement coach who challenged him. Ex) A is in the Top 4, B is in the Basement. B challenges A and wins. B is now in the Top 4, while A is in the basement.
-A coach in this position must play 2 games every Check. If he fails to do so, he swaps positions with the last Basement player to play him.
-The Top 4 advances to the playoffs on the 10th day
The Champion
-The Coach in this position only plays 1 game during Days 13-14. This is the championship game. The winner is the Champion.
-If a Coach successfully defends his belt, he may not use the same team he used until either:
a)He loses and is no longer the champion.
b)He manages to win with every team.
-Champion always gets home ice advantage.
Logging Games
-There will be a topic, and you simply post the score of the game. The only games played are ones against the Top 4, and there will only be 8 games for every 2 days.
-Note that if you play a game and get into the Top 4, you or your opponent can not play again until the Standings are updated.
-The Standings will be updated every night.
Season 1 and Subsequent Seasons
-There will be no starting champion in the first season, instead, whoever wins the playoffs will be crowned the inaugural champion.
-At the start of every Subsequent Season, the starting Top 4 will be the coaches that played the most games during the previous season (excluding Playoffs/Championship).
-For the first season, the starting Top 4 will be hand picked, with availability and previous experience being the main factors.
Recap
Hopefully that isn't too confusing. The purpose of the Classic 94 Championship is to provide coaches with something to do on the side when league play is slow. If you're bored, all you have to do is check the topic to see who's in the top 4, and challenge them. If you're in the Top 4 you're guaranteed 2 games every 2 days, and if you become Champion you only have to play once every two weeks.
Anyone can join, and with idealy there will be a large enough Basement that the Top 4 will always have somebody to challenge them.
This requires very little updating on my part so I will be active in keeping everything up to date.
FAQ
If someone in the Top 4 has played 2 games already, does he still have to answer challenges?
-No, once you get your 2 games done you can wait until the check is done.
Why are coaches in the basement only allowed 1 game a day?
-This is to prevent one guy from playing all the Top 4 so nobody else can. This ensures that at least 4 people get a whack at the Top 4 every 2 days.

They do, should have been more specific; Snaking = Reversed order every round. ( 1st. 1 2 3 4, 2nd. 4 3 2 1, 3rd. 1 2 3 4, etc.)
EDIT: Smoz has taken it upon himself to update a sheet of all the players, which will be added shortly. Shower Smoz with praise posthaste.
