  1. I've edited most of the stuff that there is to edit in this game (Centre Ice logos, Jerseys, made a 3rd jersey switcher, Menu logos & backgrounds, etc)... I'll post more when about it I have time, right now I'm at work.

That would be nice if you can post those things here.

PS: I was the one who made the 98 Nagano pack way back when.

    Nice job!

  2. I just tried gfxpak on command line. First I found my old rink in pcx-format and I imported it in NHL95. I manage to change the rink and load that palette with it, but it get little bit messy (picture below). Later I exported original rink to png-file, but when I opened it, ice color was green :D Otherwise importing/exporting rink works but something is wrong with palettes...

  3. What do you do to load a palette file? I know there is a way around it, because back when nhl95.com was around, some guy made a rink that had a skated on appearance, and had ads on the ice and boards and stuff. I've edited the in-game logos and the EA desk screen and stuff, so I know it's possible, and if we can do this, the possibilities really are endless. If you look in the /hockey folder, there are rink.pal, rinkpal.qfs files so maybe that has something to do with it? Man, we should really try to get this going.

    This is from GFXPAK-utility file:

Q: How to view NHL'95 RINK.QFS palette correctly?

A: select RINKPAL.QFS, save !pal (F-key) to current directory with name

RINK.PAL (or anything that ends to .PAL). Press SHIFT+P to load palette

file(s). Select RINK.QFS and press 'P' until correct palette is in use.

Other images without palettes can also be viewed with correct palette

    this way.

I tried that, after saving and pressing SHIFT+P, NHLinfo asks "Directory containing palette files". If I type palette.pal or c:\hockey\palette.pal, it still says "No palette files found". Saved palette file is in c:\hockey directory.

I know too that this is possible, because I have modified rink by myself in 90's. Back then I was using older DOS-version of NHLinfo. Maybe I will install DOS and try to find that old version somewhere B)

  4. when opening the rink it won't display it properly, do any of you NHL 94 graphic editing geniuses have any idea what it might take to fix that?

Same thing happens to me when I open rink in NHLinfo. I think the problem is that we need load proper palette-file but, when I am trying to do that NHLinfo doesn't find palette from hockey-directory.

  5. -The referee. It's cool to have a referee on the ice all the time, much more realistic, as he can get in the way of the play (like real hockey) and the puck can deflect off of him, for example, if you try a clearing attempt and he is in the way. He always goes to get the puck after stoppages of play, including going to the scorer's table as mentioned above. On goals, he is there too- right on the goal line, signaling the puck is in the net. Pretty cool.

Try to tackle the referee, and see what happens if you succeed :)

  6. Can you also print the statistics/standings? It seems to have that option but nothing printed for me when I tried to do that. Is this something that can actually be done?

Do any of the NHL95 PC players pring their league statistics?

Go to statistics where you want to make that print. Print-> Output Current Data ->Give filename (for example: players) ->File appears in hockey-directory (named players.out). Now if you want actually print it to paper, just open it to some text-editor (for example notepad) ja print it from there.

I noticed that NHL95 does print only that first page of statistics, if you want to print out all statistics you can use Toni Wilen's NHLinfo.

  7. That's what I was doing...are your standings and player stats updated with the completion of each game? I had played about 5 league games and my standings and player stats for the league were all still zeros, even though I was half-way completed with the calendar in the first month of the season. :)

After you have loaded your season, select in Sports Central:

File-> League Manager-> Merge and Update Team Databases.

After that you should see your season stats in statistics.

  8. =P

im not the only one that plays 93, so dont start that...

93 is half the size of 94, i dont think you can do it

and i already know your a jerk, and i dont play 94, so do what ya gotta do...

Heh, we got very bitter person here.

  9. Again, the rest of the graphics in the game ARE easily editable with the EA Graphics Editor, which can be downloaded here: http://www.nba-live.com/eagraph/index.php, and though I never was skilled enough with editing to do anything with it, it leaves it pretty open ended to do what you want with it. NHLinfo lets you edit all the team/player info and ratings and stuff.

I got problems with that editor in editing NHL95, for example if I open picture of rink, it shows ice color red... I tried to load right palette to it, but it says Error:Unkown palette file type. Anyone manage to edit NHL95PC graphics with this tool?

  10. Hi mates,

I just played NHL95 2 days ago on my laptop.

Dosbox does the trick. I made it work by mounting my NHL95.iso(image of original cd) image to a virual drive on my XP, which I then mounted in dosbox as a cd drive. Then I mounted my d:\games folder as a drive in dosbox. After that I just installed the game in dosbox from cd(mounted), and played it. Sounds, graphics and gameplay are as smooth as playing on our dedicated NHL95 computer(486).

I had a bit problems of game and sounds slowing down, but then I increased the dosbox cycles to 10000 or so. Works well... except that my laptop screen won't strecth to 640x400 etc. resolution smoothly. Had to play on a windowed mode...

Didn't test joystick support yet... gotta do it when time.

    Cheers,

    Ouzo

    P.s.

If you guys want the best and original graphic addons for rink and jerseys we are hosting them with my friend here:

    http://www.jlunnas.com/nhl95/95adds.zip

    http://www.jlunnas.com/nhl95/95rink.zip

    http://www.jlunnas.com/nhl95/95jersey.zip

Disclaimer: By the way, we did those addons back in 95, when everything was beautiful B)

Hi, are you guys going to make new rosters for NHL95 PC-version? I have run Manager-league for 4 seasons by NHL95 PC-version. (Yep, we just make changes to lines and sell players etc. Gameplay is computer vs. computer) Here is link to our league-forum (Finnish only). Please inform if you are going to do roster updates or if you have old rosters stored somewhere.

    Happy gaming,

    Kiba
