  1. NEWARK, NJ --- It's a riotous scene at the Prudential Center, as the Devils fans are finally given a reason to celebrate after New Jersey's 7-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers to end their GDL losing streak at 37 games. When the final horn sounded, the 16,080 fans in attendance rushed the ice, tearing down the goal nets and sirens. One fan was seen grabbing one of the goal sirens and running out of the arena.

Cam Neely came through for New Jersey at last, with 5 goals and an assist to bring his goal tally to 29. Zarley Zalapski chipped in with a goal and 3 assists. New Jersey was aided by 5 Flyers penalties, as the Flyers went in with the proper gameplan, to try and drop the Devils on their rears. "We wanted this one for two reasons. To cash a winner's check for once, and to shut coach Delgado up. Now we can play with some confidence" Cam Neely told reporters afterwards.

Unfortunately, in all the jubilation, 5 deaths were reported after the riot. Apparently, James Patrick got too celebratory, and threw his skates into the air repeatedly, with the blades hitting fans in the head, killing them instantly. Patrick is wanted for murder, and has reportedly fled the country.

  2. NEWARK, NJ --- The hapless New Jersey Devils continue to prove that they're the most inept squad in GDL history with their latest debacle, a 11-0 loss to the St. Louis Blues in front of a crowd of more than 14,000 at the Prudential Center. The lone bright spot was the gutsy play of backup Arturs Irbe, who came in during garbage time and made several nice saves. He showed the effort of a champion, but we can't really say the same for the rest of the team. We can say this though: Here's the Devils Mid-Season report card.

    Offense: F-

Reason: Need we say more? They are averaging a league-worst 1.96 goals per game. They cannot score on the breakaway, going just 1 for 42 on breakaway situations. Their passing has consistently been horrendous, as they average a passing percentage of 44.97%, good for 22nd out of 24 teams. They also take a 3rd-worst 804 body checks, as their offense has suffered due to the fact that their offensive players cannot stay on their feet. Leading the way for the Devils on offense has been Cam Neely, who has seen his draft stock plummet. Even in this horrible season, Neely has managed to score 24 goals as the team center, as well as 8 assists. He's tied with Sergei Fedorov (14 G, 18 A) for the team lead in points with 32. Not even Neely's solid efforts can hide the fact that the Devils average a 3rd-worst 9.86 shots per game. If you don't shoot, you can't win...but even that is awful. New Jersey prides itself on taking shots that matter...but if they cannot find the shots, then saying that they don't take bad shots is moot.

    Defense: F-

Reason: Despite the improvement in their approach to defense, the Devils still give up a ton of goals, a 2nd-worst 6.18 GAA. New Jersey also takes a lot of penalties, about 3 per game. At 78 penalty minutes, they are 8th in that area. James Patrick and Zarley Zalapski have not been able to contribute anything of note to the defensive side, as they are constantly taking bad angles to the puck-carrier, and are too late to make the stop, leaving the goalies hung out to dry.

    Goaltending: C

Reason: Felix Potvin and Arturs Irbe have single-handedly kept the Devils in games that they have not deserved to stay in. When Potvin has gotten an early pull, Irbe has come in and done some very solid mopup duty. Potvin has recently voiced his displeasure about getting pulled, but how can he justify that displeasure when he is constantly putting the Devils in holes that they cannot get out of? Nonetheless, this is still a very reasonable tandem when one of them is on their A-game.

    Coaching: F

Reason: You have to give coach Tom Delgado credit for not walking away during this mess. He has said he wants to leave, but he has not pulled the trigger, and apparently does not plan to until season's end. However, despite this, Delgado still harbors about 90% of the blame for this team's struggles. "I'm coaching my rear end off to get that elusive W, but nothing I'm preaching seems to be working. I just don't get it." Delgado told reporters after their 11-0 loss tonight to St. Louis. How long can he possibly tolerate such awful play?

Outlook: Things look VERY grim indeed. The only seemingly winable games on the road to 0-56 appear to be against underachievers Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Other than that, there may be 56 new reasons to cry if you're a New Jersey Devils fan. This outlook is rather bleak. One can only hope they break through to get that first win. More than that, let's just hope they don't throw in the towel.

Tom Delgado Looks for Pity After Latest Debacle

  3. I edited my post...apparently I'm in the wrong (as always). I have no apologies to offer, just a regret that it has come to this kind of childish BS.

That is all. Thank god this season's almost over. I can't wait to get away from some of you people :). Now someone do the right thing and close this.

EDIT: Actually, I do have an apology to offer. Not to one person, but to GDL in general for my ridiculous behavior in this thread. This is the kind of behavior that should not be tolerated by ANYONE. If you guys really want me out though...just tell me. I regret ever opening my goddamn mouth, as usual.

  4. VANCOUVER, CANADA --- The countdown inches closer...

31 losses stand between the New Jersey Devils and total embarassment. The latest beatings came to the Canucks, both by scores of 6-0. What was notable in game 1 of that home and home was that the Devils were only able to get 2 shots off against Vancouver's rock solid defense, and that meant an easy night for Bill Ranford. "These guys are glorified minor leaguers" Ranford told reporters after making two saves.

Off to Vancouver for the other side of the home and home, and once again, the Devils dug themselves a hole early and forgot to bring their shovels, en route to another 6-0 drubbing. At least this time, they got 10 shots off. New Jersey reclaims their spot as the most inept offense in GDL history, with a 1.97 GFA this season. Nobody knows for sure when, or even if, the bleeding will stop...but everyone knows this: If New Jersey goes 0-56, head coach Tom Delgado will walk away from the Devils, GDL, and hockey in general, forever. "No sense in going on when all you're gonna do is embarass yourself, right?" Delgado said before quickly running to his car...which was no longer in the parking lot because apparently Felix Potvin stole it to make a quick getaway to avoid getting yelled at.

SIDE NOTE - Coach Delgado has lost 34 straight GDL games, dating back to last season before he resigned. He is now on pace to create a brand new record for futility with 65 straight losses.

Hokkee refuses to accept the victory due to choppyness. I refuse to replay since it was not choppy for me and I still found a way to lose. Just accept the win :o

That's 33 straight losses if you combine GDL and this ;)

  6. NEWARK, NJ --- KGMan returned to New Jersey tonight to a hero's welcome, getting a standing ovation from a sold out crowd after in Season 2, he took over for coach Tom Delgado and led the Devils to the GDL finals. He promptly repaid his former team with a 7-3 beating.

Winnipeg came out flying from the start, and never let up. A disgusted Felix Potvin was pulled midway into the 2nd period. Afterwards, coach Tom Delgado called a closed-door meeting and reportedly blasted his players for quitting on him yet again. "He doesn't respect us. I don't know why he even came back." Kevin Dahl told of Delgado's tirade. "He's gotta realize that we're trying to win a game for him. He can't expect us to over-extend ourselves." Brian Bellows said. "I feel bad for coach. We're not doing enough to win, and I wanna win a game for him." Cam Neely remarked when talking about coach Delgado.

Delgado did speak to reporters very briefly though, and he was not lost for words. "Gee, what do I have to do, kidnap these players' wives? This losing streak is ridiculous, and if you count GDL Season 2 before I resigned, it's 31 straight losses, and I'm really getting mad at these guys for playing like sh*t! Now out of my way." Delgado roared before going to his car, only to find it covered in eggs by disgrunted Devils fans.

  7. NEWARK, NJ --- The road to win #1 is very hard, and the Devils have encountered more than a few bumps in the road.

The latest road bumps include 5 straight one-goal losses against some of the league's elite teams. Said Coach Delgado - "We're doing everything right, we're just not getting lucky. I really think we could have won all 5 of those games. I think the feeling is that we're such a Mickey Mouse organization that we can't get out of own way, but recently we've been able to break their defenses. It's probably only a matter of time until we get some good fortune".

The New Jersey losing streak is now at 19 games, but their play as of late should raise some alarms to those who bet that the Devils would find a way to lose every one of their games.

  8. NEW YORK, NY --- After the Rangers' shocking 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, coach Tom Delgado was not lost for words.

"This performance is UNACCEPTABLE" Delgado stated. "These players owe our fans their money back for having to watch this decrepid show of hockey. Messier and Tikkanen blatantly decided to show me up by passing to the OTHER TEAM. YOUR GUYS ARE IN BLUE, WHITE, AND RED, NOT BLACK. GET SOME F***ING GLASSES. Gartner, oh...DON'T GET ME STARTED. USE YOUR SPEED, GET OPEN, AND PUT THE PUCK IN THE NET, NOT IN ROW Z. Defense? WHAT DEFENSE?!? You call what I saw out there defense?!? These idiots better get their act together in game 2, otherwise HEADS WILL ROLL. BET ON IT" Delgado continued before storming out of the conference room.
