  1. Not happy with one of your starting forwards? Is your defence leaking? Here is the answer! FLA Looking to upgrade a winger.

    On offer sheet: Nieuwendyk & Numminen or Wesley for forward + your next pick or a defenceman.

    Are you interested in shuffling your team even more? In that case I am happy to tell you that Blue is available for grasps as well.

    Get back in AIM to see what you've got to offer.

  2. We played 10+ exis with Uncle Seth today and the new kaillera gives an improvement on the weird FPS lag between some players. This still occured some games and they were like bottom fps 10-13 for me all of those games, but some games were totally smooth in fps 60 category. With the old kaillera it would've been a drop down to 10-25 area all of the games with some jumps to fps 60.

    I'm fairly confident now as well, that the latency feels better as well, your keyboard presses happen more instant indicating more what you see on your screen, rather than trying to estimate the hit a bit like with the old kaillera with b-checks on higher latency games. Some welcomed improvements to the network engine for P2P.

  3. Had some spare time on my hand and while researching my upcoming draft, I went through the players that have won the title. We had a similar one in NHL95 Manager league and while it will not tell that much where the players are controlled by humans, it's still a fun statistics and eventually some players might start to stand out, I was surprised with 3 titles with Duchesne for example. Moog also with 3 titles, while it's most likely only due to a draft position of stronger players and a random occurance _so far_. I did not list backup goalies and only separated the scratches on offence. The game has also evolved since most of these have been won, but at least it's for fun.

    Okok, I went through the final appearances of coaches in GDL history as well.

    Just want to know early so I can plan the draft a bit and try different combinations out. :)

  6. I believe I was the "underdog" who put Frey on the ropes in that tournament, I wasn't shocked taking a short series from Frey and I'm sure he wasn't surprised either. The style of play and experience of a coach is indicative of how they will match up against their opponents.

    For example, I've played Freydey on and off now for 6-7 years and matchup well against most of the time. I may not be nearly as skilled, but I have 6 years of experience playing this coach and know his tricks (watch out for the net crashers). On the other hand, I've always never matched up well against Kingraph or Tomkabs who play different styles and have much less experience playing against.

    There are many skilled coaches in these leagues, each having a unique style to the way they play the game. It's definitely not an easy task to build a team, and out play 10-20 opponents. While you may have lost the series, you have 5 more games against Zalex to learn from the next time you play him.

    I did not mean only the upper bracket, but lower bracket as well, as a whole. But thank you very much for the clarification, experience playing against certain opponents and knowing their traits can help the underdog against a technically better opponent indeed.

  7. Tight race on the hot/cold option. It is the only one that really matters to me so I want to clarify it to people yet again.

    A player is either hot/cold on all attributes - shown in edit lines. = Already a modified option that has been in use for 3 or 4 seasons. In default version you do not know the real values. So for puritists this option has already been modified, but it is closer to the original than the other option. The skills will vary as below each game and will be shown as in edit lines. This option will be better for casual gaming and provide more variety, will maybe help see more underdog wins. In a sense it is more realistic as well as player performances do vary irl as well.

    6 = 99

    5 = 81-98
    4 = 63-80
    3 = 45-63
    2 = 34-52

    1 = 25-43
    0 = 25

    Static - always the same = No variety in player skills, you know what you get for every game when drafting a player. This is the option for competitive mind. Think about having your #1 pick cold for 5 games out of 7 in playoffs, or the other way around when the opponent is hot.

    6 = 99

    5 = 90

    4 = 72

    3 = 54

    2 = 43

    1 = 34
    0 = 25

    Both have their ups. See what is more important to you and go with that. Just wanted to clarify this out for people that are not aware what these options mean.

  8. Hmmm.... My video game obsession history... Chronological order...

    1. Super Mario Bros. (I remember having call down the street at ~8 years old to someone's parent to teach me how to get through the final maze level! There was a time when I could finish this in one life)

    HAha, this happened to us as well. Practised a bit and then "let's go brag and play it on public stores". There used to be plenty of kids playing and waiting for turns then. We were around 8 as well. So silly, haha.

    Duke Nukem 3D dukematch (Still the best deathmatch shooter in my opinion... wacky user-made levels, jet packs, pipe bombs, trip mines, shrink ray, freeze gun... still laugh about the time I threw a pipe bomb at someone, he froze me before I could detonate it, picked up my pipe bomb, and killed me with it)

    This was great indeed, was never that good with it though, I didn't use mouse at the time, but that had to change later.

    Doom 2 deathmatch was something we used to play shitloads on LAN as well. Oh, those were the days. 1 Finnish mark (around 0,20$ at the time) per each death. Hah. =)
