  2. 2on2_Season_3_v.zipGame 1: BUF 1 @ LA 6

well this game was pretty tight at 2-1 most of the game. But some quick goals near the end of the 3rd clinched it.

    Game 2: LA 11 @ BUF 3

The kings chemistry began to click early on in this one carrying over from last game. Sabres opened scoring with a very strange goal that was banked off the boards/ back of goalie/ post and in. LA poured it on in the 3rd period with 6 goals.

    so whos next

----oops move this to league scores whoever has the powwa

+ both save states are attached as zip file

No need to gloat, now. Haha :D

  3. HOW SHOULD WE BE LOGGING GAMES?

DO YOU WANT US TO SAVE STATE THEM FOR NOW AND SEND THEM TO YOU?

Jesus, whst's the deal man? You're very unresponsive these days.

If the pinned topic at the top of this forum is any indication:

    1. atleast one person on each team must download the new emulator [both dont need it]

    download here: http://www.uploading.com/files/P4728XPY/gensnetplay.zip.html

    includes the emulator+ 2on2 rom

    2. after each game a save state file must be created by pressing F5 in netplay.. usually the winning team does it but it doesnt matter.

    3. Log into the site and upload the save state file.

Obviously the site isn't up yet so I assume we'd either keep them saved and upload them later. But maybe this will change given the state of the site...

  4. Hey guys and girls,

I had started work on a NHL 75 rom a while back but hadn't gotten very far and have since put the project on hold since school has started...

What can I do to try to help?

  5. Top 2 days in voting will be designated as season 3's league night.

All votes that do not have a post to represent them will be discounted in order to prevent non-league members from influencing the result.

    I voted for Monday night.

    Sunday!

  6. Most importantly Jesus, I think the key to the survival of any good lg is that schedules and expectations with deadlines are set before the season starts.

EA76 and I just chatted about this for a little bit - I definitely agree with him on this point. Obviously there will be leeway in when the games are played, but getting too lax with the scheduling could cause the league to crumble. I think I speak for EA76, and maybe alot of other 2on2-ers when I say that as long as any flexibility given with scheduling isn't taken advantage of, the league will be a success.

Maybe something like bi-monthly deadlines and schedules based around "league nights" would be efficient? Maybe weekly check-ups are needed? Who knows...

  7. Far as the league goes:

The final build for season 3 is here. Skoolyard and Gr8199 enter the fray with 07 San Jose, and 2ndandBowery join forces with Icestorm using the 98 Sabres.

Season can start this week, however the site isn't ready yet..But the scores can be uploaded any time.

I'm interested in hearing suggestions from you guys on how deadlines and "league night" should be set up.

I've done some pondering, and this is what I think:

6 teams is one fifth of the NHL's 30 teams, so if we made the number of games proportionate to that, we'd be looking to play something in the neighborhood of 16.4 games. Having each team play each time at home once brings us to 12 games, which seems a little short. If we split the league into two Conferences, though, and each team played every team in the league twice (once at home, once away) and then played each team in their division another 2 times (once at home, once away), I believe that brings the game count up to 18, which seems like a fair number to me. It's not too daunting, but not brief to the point of being pointless. If each team played two games a week, the league would be ready for playoffs in less than 2-and-a-half months, so the season would fit the fast-paced action that 2on2 provides. Having each team play conference teams more often will allow for some mini-rivalries to develop, and would also make the Championship interesting as the teams would have only met twice prior.

    Am I over-analyzing this?

The divisions could be as simple as California (Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose) vs. The World (Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Vancouver).

Yeah... I'm definitely thinking about this too much.

Well - that's my two cents!

  8. Hey,

I admit I'm no good with editing the game. I was just thinking that it would be cool to see an ECHL rom version of 94. Not sure if anyone has done this or is doing this, it was just a thought that I wanted to share if someone who is good at editing the game thought it was a cool idea as well.

    -Vinnie

I used to live in Greenville, SC when I was young (well, I still am young, so younger). I still remember getting a really nice Grrrowl jersey for my 8th birthday...

In fact, here's a little something I did when I was teaching myself the very beginnings of NHL94 hacking:

    http://nhl94.com/forum/index.php?showtopic...amp;#entry12029

Would you want to try to do a current rom or a past rom? Maybe we can unite and make something happen. Trust me, I'm no expert (all I can really do at the moment are simple graphical hacks), but I'm learning...

  9. Could anyone share with me the various formulas and systems you have used to decide player ratings and team ratings when creating games based on real NHL seasons? I'm thinking of finally starting a massive undertaking and I think this might be one of the final pieces of the puzzle, so please tell me as many of these rating systems as you can think of!

    Thanks so much!

  10. NHL '96 for PC was the first hockey game I ever had. After finding this forum and playing NHL '94 for the past couple of weeks, I thought it might be kind of cool to re-visit my first ever hockey game. Sure, I could play the Genesis or SNES version, but I really want to re-live the NHL '96 PC experience. Does anyone have the files to install the PC version?

  11. But then you have to deal with the wikipedia authorities if they decide that your articles aren't of enough importance, if they think the article is too sloppily written, etc. By having someone already in the NHL '94 community create a NHL '94 Editing Wiki solely for that purpose, we can make sure that as much usefull content as possible is available and we wouldn't have to duke it out with any non-'Chel people who think it's a waste of wikipedia space. Plus we could customize it to make it look really really cool.

    That's my 2 cents.

    Rock'n'Roll,

    --Andy

  12. Well we could start up an NHL 94 hacking page on Wikipedia. The tutorials on the site could go up there and we can just keep adding stuff from there but the Wikipedia people might delete it because its not really considered something that would be in a mainstream encyclopedia. I welcome someone to go ahead and start it though, but a word of advice I have is to do it in politically correct terms (i.e. - use the word "editing" instead of "hacking").

I believe it's possible to build your own websites on Wiki technology - Wikipedia just happens to be the most prominant so we all assume that it's the only one. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki looks like the place to go to start building a Wiki. I do think that someone would have to host it, though. I'll be more than happy to help maintain a Wiki if we get one.

A wiki would be awesome, not just because it allows for almost anyone to edit and add their tips and tricks for editing, but it would make cross indexing the information alot easier. For example, each team could have it's own page listing where to find each of the various graphics associate with the team (menu banner, startup logo, center ice logo, pause menu banner), but then at the same time, each graphic could have it's own page with a list of where that various graphic is located for each team (like a page all about center ice logos that lists the hex codes for all center ice logs). That way you could browse the wiki by team or graphic. Then you could also have more of the interface type edits (number of teams in the menu, default settings, pallettes, rosters, ratings, etc) easily organized, too!

    Rock'n'Roll,
