Yo, people have been asking how to run NHL96 on XP as well, the steps are exactly the same as with NHL95, but with a one line difference, the cd needs to be mounted with the line: mount d f:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl At least this was the only difference I needed to make it work. I have also managed to install NHL95 for Windows7, so I would believe there would be no difference to make it work for NHL96 on Windows 7 as well. Here we go: FIRST RUN: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN XP: -download and install dosbox -make an iso of your original nhl96 cd -mount nhl96 image in XP with Aclohol 120%…

I had this game back in the day, and I definitely used that cheat for the bonus teams... I remember one of the teams was "The Bus Drivers" with a yellow school bus as their logo. I thought it was hilarious. Fast-forward to a few years ago and I noticed there's no footage of this on YT, so I decided to record & upload footage of it myself. The only problem was, I couldn't get it to work, no matter how many times I tried. I scoured the internet and made note of the fact that there's a few different variants of the cheat out there: I don't remember how I originally learned about it, unfortunately. But most cheats I knew of in the 90's came from Nintendo Power, then …

I am trying to mod player portraits for NHL 96, but there is a massive issue that I need to solve: No matter what I do with the palettes, the new pictures always look soulless and nothing like the intended pictures. I have not only attached screenshots of what GIMP and Photoshop do, but also the original pictures of Andy Moog and Darcy Wakaluk, and the new pictures of Maikls Andersons and Jack Lymrick, two characters from an alternate universe of mine. The latter pictures are what I'm trying to add to the game.

Hey, all, awesome site you have here. I am a big NHL 94 enthusiast and I play it on zbattle.net all the time using the SNES emulator ZSNES. My favorite PC hockey game is NHL 96. I used to have WIN ME and although it had several problems, it allowed NHL 96 to install. Now I have XP Professional 32 and 64-bit on different comps. I tried install from the CD and of course got an error message. Is there anyway you know to install them? I'm a comp sci student and I've yet to get into anything in-depth so you'll forgive me if this is a simple question. I love your NHL 94 editor, though, and I look forward to using it. I'm a huge Sens fan and I hope you all look forward t…

So I've embarked on a project to map out and hack every SEGA Genesis NHL game [92-98] and have run into a problem that I can't figure out. Similar to NHL 95, the Team Ratings in NHL 96 are obviously... somewhere... in the code, but I can't seem to locate it. [or 95's for that matter] '96 also has the Even-Strength, Power-Play, Penalty Kill, Goaltending as well as Overall ranking in the team select screen, but given that something like EARE doesn't work with any game other than '94, how I may edit these has eluded me. This is basically the only thing I have left to figure out [other than some of the menu background colour palette references seem a little wonky, but…

This probably isn't kosher and I'm about to be banned, but I signed up just to tell you that the podcast I co-host, Super Nintendo Exploration Squad, did a podcast about NHL '96! We play random SNES games, and this one just happened to come up. We aren't NHL experts but we did our best to analyze this like we would any other game, plus we discovered some weird easter eggs that I don't think anyone else has documented. I figured if anyone might be interested, it would be fans of the retro NHL series. http://shoutengine.com/SuperNintendoExplorationSquad/episode-25-nhl-96-59982 It's also on iTunes etc. You can find out more about the podcast in general at http://w…

Anyone know anywhere online, or have themselves, a breakdown of team and player stats for the Genesis version of NHL 96? Figured I'd ask before diving into typing it up myself.

The NFTGL has been a live played Tecmo Super Bowl III (snes) league since 2006. In April, 2018 we will be running our first live played (live-streamed) NHL 96 event. We'll be live streaming at www.twitch.tv/nftgl and after the weekend we'll be posting videos to our youtube channel as well. Most of us played a bunch of NHL back in the day, but haven't started playing it again until recently. So if that kind of thing interests you, follow us on facebook, youtube and twitch for updates.

This is kind of a strange one, but I like it. I enjoy season mode, I enjoy smaller leagues (rivalries seem better). I'm a bit of a prospect nut, and I fondly remember the Whalers, Nordiques, and the North Stars. When I found this 12 team rom, I decided to make a sort of version of the pre-camp prospect tournaments they hold (like the youngstars in penticton, or traverse city). The rosters are basically under 25 versions of the teams i included. It's a mix of good established young NHLers and the best CHL, NCAA, and European prospects. As an example, here is the Canucks lineup. Goldobin - Horvat - Boeser Dahlen - Petterson - Virtanen Gadjovi…

This game had some sick tunes for the PC version. Jeff Van Dyck offered some really heavy / industrial mixed tunes for the menu, I used these later on in some newer NHL games as well. Twas such a treat just hanging around the league menus and letting these songs play in the background. It was also the third EA NHL Hockey game for PC and the first that got away from the engine that was used in NHL94 as well. Sick intro! Well, this is truly embarrassing for me. How did I not notice that, even after having played the game for the past matter of months? As far as I am aware, NHL '96 does not have any presence of the Eastern and Western All~Star teams, at least on consoles (if the PC version also lacks them, then please do mention it). I had just noticed this within the past few minutes while I was about to do some General Gameplay of both titles; how I was unaware of the lack of the All~Star teams is well beyond myself though. However, there was an All~Star game that season, if my memory serves correctly, so the lack of them makes no sense to me. There must have been a specific for the…

Hey guys - was wondering what you guys thought about player ratings in NHL 96. I think they are the most accurate in all the EA NHL Series (Sega) and have begun to use them as the basis for rating my 90s hockey roms. Interesting to note that NYR GM Neil Smith & PR Exec. John Rosasco did the player ratings.

Hi, i'm Rockywolf. I need some help with my copy of NHL Hockey 96 for the DOS. I use it with DOSBOX, but there's one problem. There's no sound. I've tried fixing it with the sound options in the game, but it still won't work. I am missing a setup.exe for the game. Can someone tell me where I can get it, or can someone upload their own so I can have it?

Im pretty sick right now and I think it would make this next week lying around a lot easier if someone can help me. The only way I can seem to get the installation to run is by copying the files to my c drive from the disc, an then installing it from there, but once I get through the install options to where it actually starts copying files, it does not work. How do I copy an image? I heard that works as opposed to just copying the files. Please elt me know how so I can make an image to use, and hopefully it willnot have the same file location error or whatever the heck is going on. I don't know, I am tired of trying to get this to work I have pnemonia and I am just sick …
