Very interested!
I could fly to Chicago.
The Blackhawks play the "NorthStars" (sic) on the 23rd.
What are my chances of getting tickets? And how much?
Any Chicago guys wanna go and give me ride? Brutus? EA?
AngryJay?
I've never made a Blackhawks game, bucket list for me. Not sure I'm the best resource for such things. We do have a very entertaining local team that has a home stand that weekend called the Green Bay Gamblers.

I can't attend. It's on a Saturday, and I have to work, and can't really miss too many Saturday's a year on my end.
Best of luck to you buds who make it and great to see another tourney.
Is there a trend to do these events on a different day than Saturday? It seems to be the universally available day for potential travelers.

Angryjay93 is coming, and will be riding from Milwaukee. I'd suggest a meetup and rental car pool.
I'd really like to know if anyone can bring a SNES. We are trying to get some local game stores to each chip in for a setup, but that's a long shot. I only have 2 at this point. I want 10 total if possible. A retron 2, or retro bit option that uses cartridges would be acceptable, as long as the controllers are OEM, or Cirka brand.

1st Place Angryjay93 -$150

4th Place - Tim U - notably defeated Angryjay in a pickup game the night prior, and the only person to do so, won himself a $25 gift card to the venue. He also won a $25 gift card to Press Start Games in Menasha for his participation in the PP Goal challenge.
Here is the bracket.

Here are the results of group play. Nick W elected to focus on helping with admin duties, and getting the broadcast ready for us. Alex elected to forfeit the last few of his games and not participate in the bracket. He had a rough outing.

I have a multitap or whatever it's called for Genesis. Moe man and I are also in possession of multiple retro pie setups.
For the most part, there is literally no waiting to play unless your next opponent took much time picking a line and is holding up the next game. We had something like 13 Genesis consoles in play last time.

Double post for the win!
Well winter sucks, so let's make this happen. I'm in the process of trying to get the venue confirmed. Moe Man and I are in the process of discussing some format changes to group play since it seemed to blow by so fast last tournament. The game play rules would remain unchanged at this point.

I would possibly/probably come.
The 25th works better for me, but both are possibilities.
I Love the growth of Live Events.

I see many responses so far, which is extremely encouraging. What about the SNES factor? Any of you able to provide a two controller + game copy setup for use? If so just 1, or more? I think if we add SNES this event will really grow, but as we don't take any revenue from this, we need the community's help to pull that off. We are already broke paying for all the Genesis hardware ;).

Just heard from defending champ Angryjay93 that the 18th is not going to work for him or Mikey. I think they are going on a lovers cruise or something.

Guys,
I've been given two dates in March that particularly work with my schedule as of right now. Those dates are March 18th and 25th. There are those that have expressed interest in making the journey this time. Please reply with your availability if you are in fact serious. I'd like to get the date locked down ASAP before it's no longer available. I'm sincerely hoping that we can get some more traveling talent this time around, especially from the states.
Also, I would consider the addition of a SNES bracket, but would need considerable help from the community in the way of equipment in order to do so. At this point I only have one SNES and a clone system, not enough to support the number of stations we've had in play for Genesis. If you would be willing to supply a setup, would you? We knocked $5 per borrowed console off up to two setups to anyone that was able to bring a setup last time. We have enough TVs to go around.

I am hoping you have another event in September, that (once again) lines up with a Packers home game? Definitely makes it a bigger attraction to do the tourney and take in a game, too!
We are at the mercy of our venue's availability it seems. My main guy who hooked me up at the last place isn't there anymore. I was hoping to have something lined up for February, but I can't get them return communication timely.
I'm also concerned with hosting too close to the Toronto tournament this year, whichever month that falls on. If they do November then September would be fine.

I come here to get plugged into the community of a game I love. I love the AJ line building information, and keeping tabs on the community tournaments. It's a great way to learn how to be better at the game, and to get more details on tournaments, and the finer details of the history of this game. I've but scratched the surface so far.

I'm shocked and humbled to be mentioned such a prestigious group.
Angryjay93 is just a stellar dude all around. I let him stay in my house, and nobody got raped or stabbed, so he's got that going for him. Couch is always open for ya buddy.
I honestly had a lot more fun playing Street Fighter because we were more evenly matched. I look forward to further swapping of Tecmo Super Bowl and NHL 94 lessons with you.
How's February looking for you? We are lining up the next date, hope to have it figured out soon.
Congrats again!

Might be time to get a passport.

I feel bad because I have the same brand of equipment used here, and have had 0 issues, and your equipment purchases were based on my recommendations. I'm guessing the revisions must be different or something internally.
It it makes you feel any better, watching the games was not hard on the eyes. It's easy to follow along on your uploads. That finals game was a well played defensive battle.

Been trying to build interest in the tournament scene via our "Mullets on Ice" show every Tuesday on Twitch. We play in the evening between intermissions of real NHL hockey games. We'd love to see some more people tune in, even if just from their phone. Twitch viewers tend to flock to populated rooms. From there we can promote online play and local tournament participation. The player base is out there, we just have to attract them in somehow. Moe Man and I are doing our part the best way we know how. Give us a hand and hang out on twitch tonight, around 7PM.
Tune in tonight www.twitch.tv/trojan1979

Looked like a very fun time. It was nice following the action on the stream most of the day.
On the note of your next tournament, we are aiming to do another WI one in February at some point. We have also had some talk on adding nes hockey games, or possibly TSB.
Still working out details, but this is probably happening for us. Hopefully our tournaments aren't too close to each other.
Great job guys!
