I'm making this thread for feedback about the Tourney Maybe there should be a King of 94 / Live Tournaments forum section? The venue was awesome, Mikey did an amazing job procuring a location, sponsors / cool loot, film crew, advertising / media spots, and probably a ton of background stuff I would never even think of, making us all feel like stars for a day (swanky VIP section? CHECK!). Halifax's organization and management was top-notch, giving us a great format, consulting with lots of guys about format (I think chaos, raph, and myself especially?), keeping things moving when they could have gone out of control with 128 people trying to play at the same time, and …

Is anybody else looking for transport to King X? My car is too old to drive myself. I'm in Pittsburgh, looking to split gas money for a round-trip ride. Barring that I could get a bus somewhere to get a ride from there. Post here.

Let's use a fresh thread to post thanks, feedback, suggestions, etc specific to Kof94IV. I'm at work now but I'll be back later to post my detailed recap.

Will be creating a custom ROM with equalized ratings, containing all of the attendees for both consoles. Plan is to have at least 2 consoles going, so, 8 players being able to play at once, minimum, to help speed up the tournament. undecided on the # of games each team should play to qualify for the playoffs, but I feel like the championship should be first-to-4, best-of-7. I will be providing the awards for all 4 coaches. @corbettkb suggested having the SNES tournament on Genesis day and the Genesis tournament on the SNES day so it doesn't interfere with the KO94 bracket play. Which is a great idea and hopefully we can have more guys stay for both…

The date was Saturday September 12, 2015. I was still reeling from the pain of losing 2-1 to AJ a few games earlier, after making the mistake of picking Anaheim and giving him Florida. I had clawed my way back to him again after 3 hard fought wins against 3 skilled online players of whose names I shall withhold. I didn't think I'd get another crack at him. A revenge opportunity in the same day, perfect! But why was I even at this point? 2 losses?? This was not how it was supposed to go down. It was all going according to plan until I met kgman earlier, and was shocked to get bested 6-4. And then the next game was my previously mentioned ANH-FLA game with AJ. T…

Here are the segments I did with Fred on Q107 rock station in Toronto. These were edited after the fact and he re-did some of his questions. I noticed that he said I was the founder of the tournament, which is incorrect. Anyways...here's a listen to each one (One aired around 3pm, and the other around 5pm.) Hi Guys, As announced last night on our social media, as well as our live tv broadcast on KGBmanTV, King of 94 III will be in Vancouver October 2018! As always, we wanted to give lots of lead time. Mikey is really excited about it and, of course, so am I. I thought I'd just take a bit of time to clear up a couple items and if you have any questions, fire away! Venue: So at this time we have a place we're working on but until it's 100% confirmed then I'll leave disclosing this for now. Date: We haven't picked a date yet. There's some factors that play into this (availability of the venue and Canucks home games.) The NHL releases their schedule in June. I'm h…

What are some ways to get some of the people that come out to tourneys -- like Ko94 IV -- to join the online community? Any and all ideas are welcome in this thread. Ko94 IV is in Toronto, and we have months to prepare. How do we get some live guys to play online?

Ko94 IV is in Toronto. Just like #1 was. This means: There will be a ton of local people coming Lots of no shows This was the case with the first one. Because many people are casuals -- joining because the event happens to be in their home town -- it is easy to not be bothered the day of the event, and to decide not to go. Edit: I wanted to insert these stats here, from the 1st King of 94 in Toronto: - how many forum guys, vs non forum - how many no shows But after scouring the old threads can't find them, even though I know I have seen them. Bottom line: what can we do about this, and how can we make sure that the impact is minimal, and…

Hello all, I have to say it's been a battle to say the least finding a place. With Vegas, we find a location, and have solid interaction with the venue. Vancouver, one email to the canadian brewhouse and they're on board and are happy to have us there. New york has been a different beast altogether. I've contacted about 30 places so far...most don't even acknowledge or return an email or call. I don't get it. Is this how business works there? It makes no sense to me. I finally found a venue, guy seems to be on board. I ask for a specific day and he agrees only to realize that I picked the wrong day. Since that time(about 3 weeks ago I've asked to confi…

For the next King of 94, We’ll be moving towards a tiered system. Coin flip. 1. Losing player chooses tier and is visitor. 2. Winning player chooses team from that tier or a team from a tier below and is home. 3. Losing player chooses a team from that tier or a team from a tier below not already chosen. This will give players more options to pick the team they want. There is still some strategy involved if you are trying to restrict a player using his favourite team by picking a lower tier. It removes having to track which match ups you previously picked which was too hard to track. How I came up with a tiered system below. I used team selec…
