smozoma Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) Game 1: 3-2 Detroit http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=515 Fedorov stuffs a rebound around a sprawling Ranford with 54 seconds left for the win. The refs called Tinordi (DAL) on a perfectly legal hit with half a minute left, ruining thoughts of tying it up. Game 2: 7-4 Dallas http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=516 Courtnall and Gagner score 5 points each in the only blowout of the series. Vanbiesbrk lets in 7 goals on 13 shots. Series tied 1-1 Game 3: 4-3 Detroit http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=517 Probert replaces Ciccarelli and scores a goal. Game 4: 5-4 Dallas http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=518 Yzerman scores 4, but Dallas's forward line combines for 5. Ranford shuts the door in the 3rd making 6 saves, and Courtnall wins is on a PP goal. Series tied 2-2 Game 5: 3-2 Dallas http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=519 Dallas scores two garbage goals, and Tinordi makes a miraculous last-second puck poke-check to preserve the win. Dallas allowed only 1 shot in the last 2 periods. Game 6: 4-3 OT Detroit http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=520 The teams are locked at 3-3 from half-way through the 2nd period and take it to overtime (after Modano misses a bad-angle onetimer shot by a hair with 3 seconds left!) Ciccarelli, benched in games 3 and 4, scores the winner at 1:11 of OT to take it to game 7 Series tied 3-3 Game 7: http://www.blitz94.com/boxscore.asp?gameid=521 The game starts with Courtnall laying out Ciccarelli with one of the most vicious open-ice hits I've ever, injuring him for the period. Detroit manages to score late in the period without him, though, going up 1-0. Down 2-0 going into the 3rd, Dallas rebounds and scores an early goal. Vanbiesbrk plays his best game of the series, though, stopping 4 of 5 shots in the 3rd. A recovered Ciccarelli makes it 3-1 with 1:49 remaining and adds an empty netter to put it away. Final: 4-1 Detroit Detroit wins series 4-3 ggs, very tight series. It looked like Dallas had it after taking game 5, but FlamingPavelBure pulled out the stops and came back to win it. The Conn Smythe Trophy goes to Yzerman, 37-12-49 in 15 games. Courtnall went 30-8-38 in 17. Yzerman was pointless in games 6 and 7 of final, though, but still won by 11 points. http://www.blitz94.com/playerstats.asp?ord...s=true&lg=1 Edited December 18, 2008 by smozoma Quote
