Team veterans Mats Sundin (8 seasons) and Ray Bourque (3 seasons) have waited a long time for this. It's finally here! Holy smokes, these first two were great games! I guess the story coming into the finals is that MTL's Yzerman is tearing it up (28G-17A-45Pts in 12GP), but Hasek is stinking it up with a 3.85 GAA and .531 save percentage. PHI's Jaromir Jagr (24-9-33 in 12GP) and Tommy Soderstrom (3.58 GAA, .636 sv%) will have to collectively outperform them. Does anyone want to do voice commentary for the last few playoff games? You just need to record an mp3/wma/whatever of your voiceover, and I'll do the rest. The way it would work is: You need to have a microphone and learn how to record some audio on your computer (you can use a free program like audacity) Download the KREC replay files for the games (see below) You play back the KREC replay in Gens (using the p2p kaillera thingie, it's easy) While the replay is running, you record your voice commentary (use 44100Hz for the best clarity) and save it to MP3/WMV/whatever at 128kbps or higher. After upsetting #1 seed Hartford a highly confident Anaheim team came into Pittsburgh wanting another upset. Was that the case....... Game 1 : The teams combined scoring 7 goals in the first period and we knew that this would be a high scoring series. Pittsburgh was able to rally for 6 straight goals as Yzerman and Modano came through when needed. Mark Recchi kept his team close with 4 goals but it wasn't enough. Final Score : PIT 8 - ANA 6 Game 2 : Pittsburgh was looking to take both home games and Yzerman and Modano enforced that by scoring 5 goals in this nail biter. The long-awaited series finally is here......... Game 1 : PIT 7-2 Steve Yzerman shows no slowdowns from his 101 goal season as he starts the 1st period with a hat trick. PIT outshoots TOR 20-4 as this game was never really in doubt. Game 2 : PIT 6-4 TOR came out strong after Game 1 and led this game 3-2 part way through the 2nd period but PIT just had too much firepower as Yzerman puts up 4 goals and Cujo makes some key late saves as things shift to TOR for games 3 and 4 Game 3 : PIT 6-3 Feeling like a broken record, Yzerman once again dominated this game with 5 goals as the PIT offense is too much for TOR. The Devils stormed into Edmonton, hungry to hold on to their momentum after their play-in round mastery, and it seemed like this might be another cakewalk as Mario Lemieux scored 58 seconds into game one. He scored again 12 seconds later, and people all over Edmonton were starting to feel tightness in their throats. These feelings were short lived, however, as Geoff Courtnall would open the scoring for his team with 11 seconds to go in the first. The first ever Blitz finals came in with a lot of hype as the two top coaches this season brought in their teams ready for a epic match up. A showdown as Detroit took 3 of 4 from Buffalo during the regular season and the first ever Blitz Finals were about to begin and Buffalo and Detroit were ready for a war. Game 1 3-1 Buffalo In the opening game of the series there was a feeling out process with Mogilny coming out of his playoff funk to light the lamp twice and Fuhr shutting the door on any Detroit opportunity early. The series between the Anaheim Mighty Ducks against the St. Louis Blues have just gotten started in this night for hockey! In game one, the Blues came out to play, but the Ducks struck first as Chris Kontos made a job shot from his team's goal to the Blues as Ron Hextall mishandled the shot and went in for the score. The Blues did not panic, however, and Rod Brind'Amour struck back for St. Louis to tie the score. Mark Recchi joined in the fun and make a smooth deke to outsmart Hextall and the Ducks are up 2-1. Game 1 12-2 Washington In a brutal display of force, the Washington Capitals scored 8 goals in the first period, all but one of these belonged to Cam Neely, he finished the night with 10 goals and 1 assist. Tikkanen was the feeder in this one with 6 passes, along with 2 goals, Ranford also did a good job of slamming the door, with an 85 save %. Both goalies of Winnipeg goaled in an awful way, as Tom Draper and Cujo combined for 40 save %, the Sandman and Paulcopter were the only scores for the Jets.
