  1. Well between the Montréal riots and Pittsburgh, Washington still won't diminish as a hockey market - Ovechkin may well still put the city on the map.

    I didn't see the game - I had to work - but the East semifinals are indeed for the purists, are they not? Even with no Ovechkin.

    I think Ovechkin-Crosby's gotta happen someday, and while it's not this year, the Eastern Conference got that much more important with their superstars - and think of the Southeast Conference - everyone's gotta be rooting for the Caps now!

  2. O Ok Hows This:

    WIN = 10 points

    DRAW = 6 points

    LOSS = 3 points

    If you win 4-0 or lose 2-4: +2 points

    If you win 4-1 or lose 1-4: +1 point

    If you win 4-2 or lose 0-4: +0 points

    why not just best of 5 game series? that way no one ties, we all get experience, yadda yadda yadda.

    enjoy your second round by the way, you earned it, even though I'm quite devastated right now. :(

  3. The reason why I wanted a points system for series play is so that there is less likelihood for a tiebreaker to be necessary...if it was a 3/1 split, I would be going through some excess data, that's for sure, in order to decide who is higher up than who. With a points system, I can take the series records as a legitimate tiebreaker, then game records, etc.

    Why not just use the position from the first round as a tiebreaker and KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid)? Also, I'm assuming there will be some sort of playoffs after this second "round" of league action?

  4. Statto and I had a series earlier where we played two games 1-0. One goal came 20 seconds into a game. The next goal came after 3:20 of overtime in the following game, making for 5 scoreless periods in a row, plus two where the goals came far from the goalless spell. This was VERY odd...but to be fair I think we were both playing super-defensively. However, it's interesting to note, especially when considering how overtime works with this ROM in leagues.

    You were a pixel away from scoring in the 3rd period of that first game, too - Vernon with the big save! :lol:

  5. Well, my big issue is that there's no clear or natural way to do the point for playing incentive - the best way to do it came with the points system that we're doing (IMO), or alternately having every game be worth 5 points.

    However, if we were going to do series play, then series victories would be the number 1 criteria, and most series losses would be the first tiebreaker...effectively making wins 1 and losses 0.01, not a whole lot of incentive.

    I'll consider a points system for series play while I'm driving home...I've done this in the past and I can do it again.

    How about you win a series, you get a win; you lose a series, you get a loss. Series are best of 3 as we play enough already :)

    As far as the standings go, to encourage participation, the first sort is wins, and the second sort is games played, so 7-10 is better than 7-0 in the final standings (to reward the person who has played more games with a better seed).

    No overtime wins/losses; ties broken by a shootout (?)

    What'yall think

  6. I've never changed the team banners colors.. Mack did a NHL '94 hack back in 2003 where he changed the banners though:

    He mentioned somewhere (recently) that he had used a sprite editor or something like that to edit those.

    As for editing the jerseys, I use the only currently available (that I know of?) NHL '94 editor (made by "JG Games"). We should have Evan upload it on the download section. I've began writing down the jersey offset data, but never got it done. Unfortunately you cannot edit player cards on SNES, graphics are compressed and can't be viewed in the tile editors. That's a real bummer.

    Cool to see that there's finally someone else exploring SNES NHL '94! :) Keep up the good work!

    The team banner colors weren't that hard to figure out at all, but I'm pulling my hair out over the uniforms. Is there any way to uncompress the graphics?

  7. get in touch with xstioph. the fact that you've put in the effort thus far...he may be willing to share share info.....and his notes are well organized and highly detailed. plus he's just a great person to deal with. he helped me out a lot when i took on the editing side of things.

    Will do. Does he still play?

    I got the Coyotes away jersey but cannot figure out the home jerseys for the life of me.

  8. Hello all,

    I was wondering if there's anyone out there who has hex edited NHL94 team and bar colors, and if there are bytes which determine the number of letters in the [ QUEBEC ] bar (for instance) on the main screen. I've been able to change Hartford and Winnipeg to Carolina and Phoenix, but Colorado in place of Quebec (and changing one of the allstar teams to AllStars as opposed to All Stars) throws everything afterward off. All I've done successfully so far is change the team and arena names; I've figured out player statistics and such; and I might replace the All Star teams with Minnesota and Nashville (Columbus and Atlanta... sigh... they're not "real" franchises yet).

    I know there are palette editors and such, will have to take a look at those.

  9. haha wow... I just watched the playoff predictions on TSN... and all four hosts said san jose over pittsburgh in the finals.

    Maggies picks looked pretty good, no real upsets were picked, except for philly over washington.

    I picked the Ducks to surprise repeat. Flames are going to take down the "Stanley Cup Champions" in round one. Heard it here first. :P
