  1. Thanks buds!

I love playing with you guys. Congrats to everyone who came out on a great season.

AJ - dude was on a mission. Sometime between my win in game 1 and the start of game 3, he found another five or six gears. Didn't make any mistakes. I haven't lost as badly as I did in game 3 in a long time, and game 4 wasn't much better. Lebron James style domination, without the fairytale ending.

I told him after I wished we'd been recording the games. Now that I think of it, I'm glad we weren't, so nobody can find out how to beat me.

Seriously, amazing series and you played great. I know it's a tough pill to swallow. Game 7 OT loss - been there done that. This time I came out on top.

If it's boxing, AJ wins by unanimous decision. OK, maybe a split decision. :)

But it's not boxing, so the Cup is coming home to Missouri!

  2. Thanks for the kind words and I know you'll be back next time with something to prove. With a better team in your hands I think you'll be a really tough out - in the end Winnipeg is just a little too small compared to St. Louis and that was the difference.

Congrats on a hard fought series bud! We'll have exis soon.

Koke/angryjay: I will be available Sunday onwards so should be able to get this done early next week. Good luck in your semi!

  3. I had to adapt for sure. He plays too good defensively and is aggressive with the manual goalie. You also have to get lucky to beat Bourque 1 on 1.

Other than one period in game 4 it wasn't opening up for me, so games 5 and 6 I really tried to clamp down.

It might have been a different series though if Zombo (!) hadn't saved me from going back to Boston down 0-2.

  4. Hey bud,

I wanted to set this up because I can't play tonight or tomorrow. From Sunday I am either free or I will make time, but I know they want to move things along pretty quickly so I figure we should discuss times.

How about Sunday or Monday evening? How early can you get online? I can stay up a bit later if need be, but I'd ideally not be up too much past midnight eastern. Let me know!

  5. It would be nice to have a no tolerance policy for slackers, and maybe you can do it in Gens, but there aren't enough active SNES players to be able to just ban people who don't get their games in.

More communication would be great. Maybe you make everyone give out their phone number at the start of the league. Maybe everyone gets in a WhatsApp group (I know for me, AIM on mobile isn't a great solution).

I lean more in that direction than just booting people. We need more activity, not less, but I don't know how to engage or re-engage the people we do have.

  6. Jersey and Delaware are for PHI. I'm colorblind and even I can see that!

QUE is one of the most fun teams to play with in Classic. They aren't the best (Defense is sub-par, though Duchesne is serviceable), but they have a bunch of above-average forwards that you can mix and match with depending on your play style. Have fun with them!

Yeah it's a fun team. I like offense by committee so their forwards suit me. Nolan and Kamensky are basically the same player - take your pick. One of them will be on. Bench drops off a bit after that but Ricci is serviceable too.

On D I favour bringing in Gusarov to steady the ship.

  7. My goalies are Irbe and McLean, not exactly trash but mid-60s rating. I used to love Irbe as a kid though!

I don't know if it's just something I don't understand well enough but I've never seen enough benefit in having an elite goalie. So I think if I had prioritized that over locking down a top dman or winger it wouldn't have helped me - at least the way I play the game. Agreed no reason to spend on a backup goalie. I did swap out Irbe in the 8-7 loss because I wanted to try to mix things up. Didn't work.

Bob, yeah, Leclair is another late bloomer for our league, and I did use him in most of the regular season. He is better than his numbers suggest but has a bad case of boot-puck-itis in about every third game or so... not good.

Thanks hali and chows (I'm calling you that now haha). You guys are the real super buds here.
