  1. Lots of HOF'ers on those two teams. All 3 games were insanely intense. The games were dirty on both sides. I never knew if Tkachuk got Lindros back for that slash on the back of his neck but that was the sort of player Lindros was. Lindros was extremely skilled and huge. He could have played the game right and had a very long career (maybe).

I hated Lindros not only because of how dirty he was but he was on both sides of the spectrum. He took dives all the time. There's a classic Lindros dive in game 1 of this series. Right as the whistle blows Chelios is moving is stick to the other side of his body and the blade barely and I'm talking barely touches Lindros. He pauses for a second and falls to the ice like a sack of potatoes. It's just classic Lindros.

Anyway, I've said it before, for whatever reason karma usually catches up to hockey players. Stevens' hit on Lindros basically ended his career. Little ironic they were team-mates for Canada.

But all 3 games are iconic. Just a hell of a series.

    Game 1 highlights:

& game 1 OT goal was on a off-sides play but Canada definitely deserved the win

    & here's game 2 highlights:

  2. the old canada cup format was awesome indeed. '87 was an awesome tourney.

To me the greatest hockey playoff or series will always be the 1996 World Cup

Canada vs USA with following teams:

    Def:

    Rob Blake

    Paul Coffey

    Eric Desjardins

    Adam Foote

    Ed Jovanovski

    Scott Niedermayer

    Scott Stevens

    Sylvain Cote

With Cote and Jovanovski being the odd men out

    Forwards:

    Gretzky

    Yzerman

    Fleury

    Shanahan

    Messier

    Lindros

    Graves

    Damphousse

    Brind'Amour

    Sakic

    Lindon

    Primeau

    Verbeek

    Claude Lemieux

With mostly Primeau and Verbeek odd men out

    Goalies were

Joseph, Brodeur, and Ranford with CuJo being the #1 goalie

    VS team USA

    Def:

    Leetch

    Gary Suter

    Matt Schneider

    Housley

    Kevin Hatcher

    Derian Hatcher

    Chelios

    Shawn Chambers

Housley and Chambers not playing (think Housley got hurt but can't remember)

    Forwards:

    Modano

    Tkachuk

    D. Weight

    A. Deadmarsh

    Guerin

    Brian Rolston

With McEachern & Rolston sitting mostly

    Goalies:

Mike Richter (series MVP) Guy Hebert and Jim Carey

I have this 3 game series recorded and it's still fun to watch almost 20 years later

This series had it all and I mean all.

From Lindros cross checking Tkachuk in the back of the neck to Hull getting boo'd by Montreal fans but still crushing the fans' hearts by tying game 3, 2-2 with 3:18 left in the 3rd.

The entire series was end to end action and phenomenal saves by both Cujo & Richter.

has a lot of the highlights.

I still get chills watching Amonte scoring in game 3 to go up 3-2. That series really was USA's coming out party in the world of Hockey.

I don't know which was more fun, seeing the bench of USA going bonkers after going up 3-2 or seeing Lindros in utter shock and disbelief. (only because I hated Lindros with an extreme passion) :)

I reccommend any fan of hockey to watch this series if possible. It's mean, dirty, and chocked full of extreme hits, skill and speed.

  3. So to date Playtex has quit 3 leagues at least correct? Classic, GDL & Blitz..

There's no way this is just a Raph vs Playtex issue. Playtex actually likes to drive new players away from the community by beating them 15-1 and then harassing them about it. He's bragged to me about it before on AIM. I'm sure if he could reply to this (ahh look at my sad face) he would come up with some crazy argument why the world is against him etc.. and this is just the internet so nothing that you say counts.... look at me look at me look at me I need more attention bs

    Good riddance

  4. You're right I goofed.

Let's say Chas and me have Det Chi and Mon

    You have Chi Det Mon

    Same draft order

    1 Chaos

    2 me

    3 King

    so Chaos gets Det

I get skipped and really don't have a 1st round pick

You get Chi even though I'm ahead of you in the draft and Chi is my 2nd choice

That's what I've always thought was goofy

It's really unfair and can be taken advantage of in a way.

By waiting till the last day of the draft you can put your top 5 in an order so that you are pretty much going to get the team you want.

  5. Let's not forget another big mistake trade by Doug Armstrong: David Perron for Magnus Paajarvi.

Paajarvi didn't even play in the series. Think Perron might've helped on the 2/29 PP?

The Perron move was about two things. Freeing up some payroll and Perron being a diva & not fitting with Hitchcock. I would rather have Perron than Paajarvi but it is what it is.

I was at Games 1 & 2. Going into the series I thought Chi would win in 5 or 6 especially the way the Blues faltered down the stretch.

The turning point was game 2 & the Backes fiasco. I was actually in that corner about 10 rows off the ice so had a first hand look at the Seabrooke hit.

The series hinged on us losing Backes & Chi having star player power. There is no superstar player on the Blues. You could make a case for 5 on Chicago if you include Keith.

It will be interesting to see if anything takes place this year with Backes & Keith or Seabrooke.

I've watched hockey now for 34 years, ever since age 5. Somehow, Someway it seems like Karma plays itself out on the ice. Lindros is a prime example.

One thing about Backes is he has a reputation around the league for being a dirty player. He's really not. Maybe the goofiest thing he did was go after Mckinnon from Col but that was more to show Col there was going to be some sort of payback for taking runs at our guys like Shattenkirk. Backes I think is hated cause he checks and checks and checks some more. Every team would love to have Backes in their lineup.

  6. Only thing I would change for sure is the draft. If the draft order is as follows.

    1. Chaos

    2. Sicarius

    3. Kingraph

We all have the same teams picked as our favorites Det Chi & then Mon

    Chaos would get Det

    I would get skipped

    And King would get Chi

That has never made sense to me. In the above scenario why not just give me Chi since they're my #2 choice. Instead I would drop to the bottom of the draft.

  7. I stand by my statement. Take away all glitches and Plabax is no better than I. He & I have proved it. He loves telling everyone he's the best ever at a game that's 20 years old. He told me he could beat me every game we played without doing the pass shot. So we started playing exhis. They were all close games with both of us winning even amount of games. Finally though when I started beating him he acted his age and did a rage quit.

Then weeks later he was still mad that I proved to him his game relies on glitches. He started pinging me on AIM saying if I could beat him he'd quit NHL 94 forever. We played, I won, he rage quit again and is still here trolling every chance he gets. He probably practices this game about 4 hours a day in hopes of discovering more glitches. Which he probably has discovered and simply hasn't told anyone.

If Smoz has the fix for the weight bug then cheers..

& I don't care if Plabax is 8... 10.. 12 or 65... he's a nuisance, he gets off on pissing people off or running them out of this community by using his glitches... which makes him more than a nuisance, he's a scum bag person, never mind what type of player of any game he is

So he can F%$# off & if anyone doesn't like it... they can go suck an egg

  8. There really should be a way to fix the whole c/b check issue. I thought the whole point of Blitz was to fix the original weight bug checking. As it is now heavies and lights can check. It's like a free for all check fest.

Don't get too upset hokkee, take away the glitches and what is Plabax's skill level? Oh that's right http://nhl94online.com/html/coachpage.php?lg=10&sublg=GENS-C&team_ID=405 17-19...

You should see how mad Plabax gets when he loses and is using all the glitches, oh that's right again.. we see that every time he rage quits a league....

  9. I agree to a point.

It goes with any game though. People look for the shortcuts and they always abuse them. Most gamers don't have integrity. I don't pass shot nor will I learn it because it's a glitch. It does cheapen the game. I haven't seen people yet using the c/b check but I'm sure people will if given the opportunity.

I played a game vs Uncle Seth where he was given a penalty shot on a check basically from the side and he dumped the shot. That's integrity.

Other than that I'll take greater satisfaction winning against people who must exploit every glitch.
