Update the link on the main nhl94.com page for macks hacks
-
Ok, a list of every hockey game for whatever system, wow, that would be a big list. But I think it's a good idea, saying a hockey game sux from the get go is hardly fair but I like to try the new ones when they come out. We should make a ongoing list on this board of all the games, you don't have to provide a URL just list what platforms the game is available on.
Here is another list on wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_video_games
If your a member you can update the list. Be the best way to do it as they have a good start.

I'm speechless.

We need to find clips or screen shots of this stuff in the movies.

I don't believe that the SNES version is the best but in all honesty, I play it on the Sega CD which if you say is not different enough then the Genny version then you are sadly mistaken.
I don't play the SNES version because it doesn't play as smoothly as the CD version, the framerate is a big factor and the Genny controller makes a better controller even if the Snes has a seperate button for manual goalie activation that doesn't really sell me.
If all you have is the SNES version then by all means play it, but if you want to play with most people here you will find that they prefer the Genny version or the CD version more.

We need a help file on how to make a ISO/MP3 disc for playing NHL 94 CD version without the need for the CD.
We need to add some of this info to the nhl 94 site: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/genstut.htm At least the info we don't have already. Should also list the software you need to do it.

I'm gonna make a guess and say that that rom hack runs on the GBA?

Believe it or not, the majority of the players here don't like the Snes version as much as the Sega CD or Genesis versions. I have the snes version but I don't like it because it plays so slow and badly compared to the CD version due to the framerate cut. They had to cut the framerate by %50 percent just to make the game playable on the snes because of hardware issues. I have the game mag ad somewhere to prove this but if you have played the game as much as most of us here have, you will prefer the Genny versions over the SNES.
I love the options and the graphics on the SNES, and the fact that you can exit the game should have been added to the CD version. Also, the seperate goalie control button is nice. Overall, hats off to you guys who play ANY version of 94, I for one would rather have an argument over what version on 94 is better then have people come on and say 'NHL 2006 is da bomb!' Ya, someone hand me some napalm so I can pour it over that guy....

Yes, that is the only way I will actually go out and buy any new hockey game, simply if it plays like NHL 94. I have not bought a new hockey game for years because the ones I have played even the NHL 2k series have been better then the new EA crapshows, but we diehard fans need to get a hockey game that worthy of our $.
But, this I have said many many times, and you will hear it many more until the game companys give me absolute power over what they create for a hockey game.

These slang terms could be put in some kinda ongoing list on the main page, just for fun.

Nah it was some boring loser US senator that started the whole WINNERS DON'T DO DRUGS thing. It is very apparent that people like that never play video games so they talk out of their asses.
My friend has the ad for that in some old EGM mag among other NHL 94 ads that I want to scan and get on this site ASAP.

Well, when i first saw that arcade cabnet with nhl 94 in it I thought of a million smart clever things I was gonna ask and say but THAT THING IS FRIKIN COOL!!!!
-
That broadcast is cool, I love the fact that they went into detail about the game. I Like the fact that you mentioned me on the interview, thanks man!

It's very possible, you prolly already know of the NHL 97 game available here:
-
DONT GET THE 4WAY PLAY if you can help it, only works with 3 button controllers, or at least, you can't plug in four 6 button controllers, I know because I own one. Get the Sega Mutitap as it plugs in better then the 4way.
-
I like the emulation only to the point where its a good way to try out games you don't own. Other then that, controllers in your PC or not, the console just feels better and is easier to just plug in the game and play.

The NOSE editor has no compatibility with the Sega CD version as yet. As for other games like rage in the cage, that is a lot different then a hockey game layout. I can imagine that this editor would have to have a lot of stuff done to it to edit a wrestling game.
-
No, none currently available, sorry. The Nose editor doesn't edit the CD version, or at least, not yet.

95 sometimes gets more recognition simply because on the SNES you could create teams and other stuff people take for granted on a new hockey game. I for one hate NHL 95 because it is where I think the EA hockey games and others to follow started to go downhill. You may not find very many people here who like NHL 95.
-
It will play Turbo Graphix games as well. I think while that is a good idea, they will be charging you for the downloads. I think the only way it's really worth it is if you can play the old school games online.
Thing with Nintendo is that they do come out with a few good titles, quality games through and through but there is always a lack of them. Also, they are very scammy when it comes to add-on’s and such, have to pay big bucks for every little thing.
I would recommend that everyone here not be disappointed by Nintendo and get a PS2 or wait for the PS3. The Nintendo Rev will probably retail for about $180 US to tempt people to buy it, please do yourself a favor and save up for the PS3 or keep playing your PS2 if you have one. Trust me, I have a GC and I wish to god I'd had bought a PS2.

I know a 45 year old who still plugs in the old NES and plays Super Mario 3...

-
Well, if u talking old hockey games, ya, played them all, good newer one is NHL Hitz Pro, just have to tweak the game settings.
Also, try the NHL 2k series, better then the crappy excuses for hockey games done by EA after 1994.

The 'cheap goal' as I call it, could be called a flaw in the game, also, there is that split second right before someone scores that you are not able to grab manual goalie. Just means that you should grab the manual goalie most of the time. I think it's a cheap goal when you play against the computer. If you playing against a person, they just gonna have to try and stop it.
