I figured this would be useful to others. It's a tab delimited text file (for some reason, I couldn't upload an excel file). You should be able to open it in excel properly though. It has all of the players and ratings from NOSE for NHLPA '93. - I switched the A-F ratings to 10-15 - I put the "Long Island" players in as if they were "New York Islanders". NHLPA93Rosters.txt

GDL Sports - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada --- kgman has issued a self-imposed 1 game suspension on his own player, Bob Bassen, after an alleged cheap shot in tonight's 6-2 victory over the New York Rangers. Immediately following the opening faceoff, Bassen leveled Mats Sundin, causing Sundin to be injured for the entire game only two (:02) seconds into the action. After the contest, kgman met with the GDLPA and a decision was made to enforce the suspension. It is unclear who the suspension will be served against as of yet, but when reached for comment kgman had this to say of the situation: "The Winnipeg Jets support player safety and will try to crack down on these types of plays. The GDLPA decision is final and the "Bassen Rule" shall now be enforced. Bob will donate his 1 day salary to the Mats Sundin Feed-a-Swede Foundation and will attend anger management class". I have spoken to Houly about this. (You can read the AIM conversation in the attached Word document) He agrees to not trash talk Pearate anymore and be civil. If he trash talks again and there is proof, Houly subjects himself to repercussions not limited to removal from the league. If Pearate agrees to play the four games on GENS (which in one of his above posts he already did), then Houly has no issue playing the games. To make it fair, I flipped a coin best 2 out of 3 to see which coach would host first. Pearate - HEADS Houly - TAILS Flip #1 - HEADS (1-0 Pearate) Flip #2 - TAILS (1-1 Tie) Flip #3 - TAILS (2-1 Houly) Houly hosts the first 2 games. kgman has tried everything thought of possible, but for some reason we have not figured out a way for him to host a game on Hamachi. The only solution that has been conceived so far is this: swos has been VERY helpful to create ROMs for each possible matchup. Yes, 23 different ROMs that allow kgman to be the home team in another players host. The game is set up as a "New Playoff" game, so the look will be a little different on your menu screen. The only thing that needs to be adjusted, is set the Players from "One" to "Two - Head to Head". Leave everything else alone. Also, since it is treated like a playoff game, if there is a tie after the 5:00 mark of Overtime, you guys can stop the game and upload a save state from there for the tie game. Season: - 56 Game Schedule (4 games against each divisional rival, 2 against every other team in the league) - Top 8 teams from each conference will make the playoffs. - DNPs will hurt your playoff chances and your Draft spot for GDL X. Schedule: - Created using Round Robin Format, then added in appropriate amount of games using either "x2" or "x4". You will play half the games as the Home Team and half as the Away Team obviously. - The schedule is 8 weeks long. That would end the regular season the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (USA). If the playoffs start the week after Thanksgiving with one week per round, GDL 9 will finish the week before Christmas. So there should be no excuse to play the games. Website: - Database should be fully functional (again some things i.e. Standings, take one home game and one away game to be played for full functionality). Playing Games: Yes, the schedule is set, but please don't limit yourself to playing just those games. You don't have to wait. The main thing is get all 56 played. I know people are busy in real life, but this averages out to about 6-8 games per week (give or take). Let's be the league that plays 100% of the games. Contacting Other Coaches: - If you are having issues getting a hold of someone, please document it using the message system swos has implemented on the website. Please also let me know, that way if I see someone on AIM or on the forums, I can talk to them about it. - You are required to play your opponents during the scheduled week, at the very least. Make an effort trying to settle game times with your opponent using the GDL site's contact method. This is the only place that will be evaluated if the games are not played at the end of the season and DNP penalties are given. If you didn't make the effort to get the games played using the site's contact method within the week your games were scheduled and games are not played, you will get DNP penalties. Replacement of Coaches: I don't even want to have to go here. We do have two coaches on the waiting list (three if I start my rigorous training now). Don't lag behind on games or cause issues that can and will result in yourself being removed from the league. I've spoken to each one of you guys, and so far I haven't had any issues with anyone yet, but I know there are reputations with certain guys. This is a new season, and a clean slate, do the right thing. *** Sportsmanship *** Guys, this one should be a No-Brainer! We are all here for the fun, the competition, and for the love of NHL '94. Treat each other with respect and humility. Everyone is going to lose and sometimes lose big. It sucks, it hurts, and it pisses you off. I know I'm that way. Don't b***h out and desync early, always say "GG" or "Good Game" and move on to the next one. The same goes with winning... be as gracious in victory as you are in defeat. The issues have been cleared up. Start uploading, I would like to have everyone play a couple games for preseason to make sure all the player stats are right. We can get the season started soon, I don't want to drag this on and guys start disappearing.

Go ahead and try to upload games to the site. Be forewarned, there are bugs currently in the system that swos and I are working out. - Standings not putting in Home teams stats, might clear up after 1 home and 1 away game played - Player stats for home team not showing up - Penalty Summary, not putting in correct player. - Scoring Summary, not putting in correct players, or amount of goals. - Team Stats page (working on adding one) But give it a shot and post if you find out any more issues. Hey everyone, I don't want you guys to start thinking that there is going to be a long wait until the start of the season. Things are going on behind the scenes. We still have 5 coaches that need to turn in their lines. Once that is done, the player rosters will be uploaded to the GDL site. The schedule has been made and uploaded to the GDL site already. 56 Game schedule, (4 games against the other 5 coaches in your division, 2 games against everyone else in the league) I will release a "PreSeason" ROM for use after all lines are done, and you guys can use that to attempt to upload games to the GDL site to make sure everything is working correctly. After that, a Final ROM release, the schedule will be released and you will be off and running.

I usually only change the duplicate numbers by 1 or 2. If there is a better known player with a dupe, then they keep their number and I change the nobody. This keeps it fair and helps opponents not have to try to figure how who number #96 is whipping their ass. The requests so far haven't been crazy (minus hokkee changing his whole lineup; Recchi is 8, Messier 11, Hawerchuk 10, Kasparaitis is now 12)

We all know that trading has been a huge issue in this and previous seasons. There hasn't been an accurate way to dissect trades except for personal opinion and that just causes heated debates. I have been talking with Smozoma about his formula { [1000 / (10 + DraftPosition)] = Rough Value of Player } and I want to use that, but also incorporate other important rankings with it. The current one we have been discussing is this: (1000 / (10 + ((Rank[ADP] + Rank[AAR] + DraftPosition)/3))) = Draft Value of Player ADP = Average Draft Position of Player (includes all drafts) AAR = Adjusted Attribute Rating (It takes the actual attributes of the player and multiplies them individually by the multipliers kingraph came up with in his wonderful study. [except weight would be multiplied by a negative] Draft Position = Is the Overall position they were drafted in the current season. I'm still working on coding it to see how the stats turn out. But would there be anything else that you the players would feel needs to be incorporated in a formula like this??

Thanks guys, I'm glad that you all are appreciating the time and effort. It really has been my pleasure to help bring back what I have always believed to be the best league in NHL '94. I also want to thank all of you. I thought it would have been a lot tougher to get 24 coaches to come back after a year hiatus and get you to make picks efficiently (even with all of hokkee(pimp)'s trades). You have all been very accessible and easy to deal with. I've had a ton of fun getting this started, and I'm sure it will continue once the games start. After the trade deadline tonight, I'll finish up the roster moves on the draft site. So probably tomorrow, take a look at your team roster on the draft site to make sure it is correct. Then, I'll start working on the lines and then as far as the game ROM goes it will be done. I will be working with swos to get a 56 game schedule created and getting the GDL website ready. There will be a preseason to make sure everyone can upload games and that everything is working correctly and then the season will be a go. We are very close.
