that sounds like way too much work. I'm sticking to what I know and barely have time for as it is. plus, NHL logos would be all over them as we don't know how to be rid of them all yet on the SNES side of things. this is probably more possible as a Genesis concept, as they can change the logos and the number of teams and more that SNES folks have yet to accomplish.

yes, it's very possible; add them back! it's not that hard, but I have no interest in taking the time to do it, certainly not for the main version. one of the things I'm looking for somebody to do is variations. 2-on-2, icons back, whatever. it would be fairly easy to do: open mine and the original next to each other in TileLayerPro and you are most of the way there. I've even given diagrams of where these things are and how to make sure you are doing it right. I'm not go to do it as any sort of priority because I love it without the huge clown shoes. the icons are there, they are just small. they are, however, larger than they were in other seasons of this ROM series.

http://forum.nhl94.com/index.php?/topic/13150-snes-nhl94-rom-mapping-project is the best collection of our collective knowledge. if you are at all good at hacking, maybe you can help me figure out the roster expansion stuff. it's in there, somewhat, but I can't get my brain around it. thanks for chiming in, either way.

it doesn't look like what Hokkee wants us to believe from where I'm sitting. lots of newcomers, folks trying new things, leagues starting up, exhibitions going all of the time, ROMs being made, plans being set... only Hokkee bitches about being scored on. you don't like guaranteed-goal plays? switch to SNES for good, as there is no attempt that a competent manual goalie can't save. I was hoping sobriety was going to make you whine less.

so, I have a sad little story to tell. I realized that my avatar's dude was underrated. his 83 was based on a late-season +3, but he ended the year with +20, so he should be a superstar in this thing. so I was recalculating the team I use the most and used the full season of statistics to recreate overall ratings. I also used even-strength time on ice instead of just time on ice. only fair if I'm using +/- as my key factor, right? duh. so, I should redo the whole league. my girlfriend won't like that. I'll just make her help again.
anyway, I may be delaying this thing a while. it'll still get done, as usual, but it could be more than a month away. sorry, but it'll be for the better.

if you would give a full breakdown of those dudes' stats/ratings, that'd be sweet. do either of the skaters make one of the default lines? did they retire or go the AHL or something? MORE, MORE!

well, the Islanders have a player on the Genesis that didn't make the SNES roster, so you can start there. I am saddened to learn that you don't know everything.

so, the time has come. if anybody is at all inclined to assist, it would need to be nowish. I expect to have an update ready in about a month. it would be nice to have it be better instead of just newer.

you loved it.
there are plenty of decent-to-good players listed, but to me none would beat Brind'Amour except Murphy.
besides the obvious answer of "everybody," who is a weight fail victim?

can The Bud Who Knows All post the full data of players that appear in less than all major versions of this game and/or feature different data than on other versions?
like:
Bud Buddy is in each version except the Sega CD one. he's on the wrong roster in the Genesis version. he had a 65 pass/shoot bias rating on the Genesis.

I went with CHI and their very nice substitute player. then I was going back through thinking there were "...a few other decent choices in there that will end up with some vo- who the fu- have I ever played with NYI's #17? I'm thinking not." then I went and checked the roster list and he's one a few 47-rated forwards that would end up on the right wing when I pick NYI and slot in the worst players at each position, left to right. totally forgettable, which might mean he's certainly not good, but probably not so terrible that he stands out as so. then I looked up his career stats and wondered how I missed him, being a Bruin in the 1993-1994 season and looking to be a scorer who can pass. the thing is, his +/- was atrocious. in the 1991-1992 season, he put up 26 points in 63 games, but somehow managed to end up being a -36. wow. so, then I go to load him up and check his stats and he isn't even in the game.
so, now I have to start a new thread.

there was a post about this on my blogger page, so I'm replying here. I don't know how to make a patch and I figure if you have the ROM itself you can probably make your own patch, right? anybody is free to make a patch of my ROMs if they know how, but I'm not worried about figuring it out.

I like the game at both speeds, but I find myself drawn to the faster one more often.

hey, man, I'm still very much interested in this and would be willing to play some test games with you if you can help my old offline-SNES-playing ass get set all the way up. I have a Mac and some controllers, so I'd need the sandwich between that filled in as a newcomer in his late thirties might.
