Hello, I used to play NHL ‘94 on the Genesis and later I got NHL Hockey on DOS for my PC. The DOS version was so insane both graphically and sound wise. The graphics were so crisp etc. I loved how it had one-timers, but it also had fighting and blood. If I understand correctly, the major drawback to the DOS is that there is no manual goalie option. Is this correct? Does the DOS version support 4 players? Also, I see that there is also NHL 95 for DOS, but it keeps the older style gameplay. Is fighting still included? Does it support manual goalies or 4 player+ games? Sorry if this is a repost…

I'd been meaning to do this for a while and just point out some differences between the SNES and SEGA rosters. I referenced the NHL'94 roster link which is based on the Sega version. https://nhl94.com/html/teamprofile.php?team=ANA I'd perhaps request that @Evan look at providing an update to reflect both consoles from my notes below . It's been noted that in Sega the expansion players appear twice in the game. Once on their original team and again on the team that drafted them. The duplicated players situation doesn't occur in SNES. I've always thought that ALL players on the Florida and Anaheim expansion teams were duplicated but have found this not to be …

OK, I'm pretty much just going to open up more of a SNES vs GENS flame war with this, but I really do want to talk about it. I've been playing SNES for the last few months since GENS has been in a bit of a lull with GDL and Blitz both between seasons, and I've really liked a bunch of the features that Genesis doesn't have. The Y-goalie control itself is a great argument as to why SNES is better, but then you add in a choose side screen before the game, the abort game option which is nice, and the fact ZSNES is way better than GENS in so many ways. I also really like that it's definitely got a different feel in gameplay (lots due to the lack of a weight bug) but it's stil…

Hello all, I would think this question has come up enough times over the years. Can someone please point out an FAQ or guide to running NHL 94 on Sega CD? I am jammed up on a few things? What bin does it run off? Where do the bios files go? I'm trying to run it on the MD.EMU app from the Google store on my tablet. While I have had no problems emulating other cartridge based genesis games or PSX games, I'm hung up on this. Any help would be appreciated.

To be fair, the SNES version was released later, so that could help explain some of the things. First up, Emulator differences ZSNES advantages: Rarely desyncs (one player sees one thing, other guy sees something else on his screen) Note: houli sees this as a disadvantage because he can't cry about it games don't usually get choppy the way GENS often does you can load savestates if you do disconnect/desync GENS advantages Server is an option if you have issues with firewalls You can copy/paste the IP address so you don't need to manually put it in like ZSNES playing 2on2 with 4 guys is totally badass (not sure if ZSNES supports 4 way play, but either way it isn…

This looks really interesting, for only $39.99 http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/sega-reg-genesis-classic-game-console/1041692592 It supposedly has an SD card input so you can use a PC and save a bin to the SD card. FROM an AMAZON review: "The console itself only offers MONO SOUND, but the game slot is big enough to accept ALL North American, European and Japanese games, so this unit is REGION FREE. The unit also has and SD slot, which means you can take a 2GB or 4GB SD Card and put all the Genesis/MegaDrive games you want and play them. Definatlly a nice feature, but you'll need to convert them to the .bin format, and put them in a folder marked "games" or …

can The Bud Who Knows All post the full data of players that appear in less than all major versions of this game and/or feature different data than on other versions? like: Bud Buddy is in each version except the Sega CD one. he's on the wrong roster in the Genesis version. he had a 65 pass/shoot bias rating on the Genesis. Bud Buddy BOS 94 196 5 5 6 4 8 5 R 5 6 5 5 5 8

OK 94 buds here's the deal: This forum was created with the purpose to bring together the NHL 94 community. That means the NHL94 (GENS) and NHL 94 (SNES) community. The truth is that these two games aren't that different. They're both called NHL 94 for a reason, and that reason is that they're the best damn classic NHL game around. I've played with guys who only played Genesis 94 and then tried SNES, and guys going from SNES to trying Genesis. Neither version is perfect, and the purpose of both these sub-forums is to objectively look at them and hopefully learn that we aren't that different. Since I'm BoKnows (based on Bo Jackson if you didn't catch that) and he was the…

in the SNES version it is possible to put the puck through the back or top of the netting (usually at the seams it seems) and have the game count a goal. it is fairly rare but it's rarely fair. do y'all see similar goal solidity failures?

When it comes to the penalty shots, there are two fairly major bugs in the SNES version. (Can't wait to see how trudatman spins them into features!) Anyways, here they are: 1. When a player is hit or hooked on a breakaway and earns a penalty shot, but then takes a penalty himself (most commonly for brushing up against the goalie and getting an interference penalty, which is WAY too touchy and common in the SNES version) then that player who earned the penalty shot is sent to the box. Another player comes out to take the penalty shot. Then, as soon as the new player is ready to take the penalty shot, the puck zips over to the right side of the screen, like the puck is a m…

I know bok has mentioned this before...and i actually love that there's a lot of hitting the posts in SNES. It's excitement and frustration wrapped up in a nice little ball. Fank did a nice compilation in his recent video of snes puck dynasty league. KAMENSKY!!!!!!

using my old SNES Scrubs ROM with players rated 25 in all aspects, some guys would get hot (for the whole game) to the point where their speeds were seemingly not tied to their ratings. it seemed to happen somewhat to one of the defensemen and most often and noticeably to the right winger, but I didn't find a pattern in when this happened and I couldn't tie it to hot/cold nor "playing (extremely) well," as stated in the introduction. the right wing would get speed and acceleration like he was rated 65 or 85 instead of 25. does this happen in the Genesis version? does anybody have a reasonable explanation for the phenomenon?

There have been countless topics made on this subject, but believe it or not most SNES players may have heard of the weight bug but don't really get it. (I just played Schwartz the other day, perfect example of a long time SNES vet who was surprised by the extreme effect the weight bug has.) This might be the single biggest thing that you need to know when going from SNES to GENS if you want to be successful. To sum it up in one sentence: The skinny guys can hit like Super Man and the big guys fall over like feeble old men. For example, if Theo Fluery brushes up against Eric Lindros you can expect Eric to go down like he was shot, and knowing Lindy he'll be out 4-6 weeks …

In the Genesis version, you can score a goal by slamming the goalie into the net, affectionately named "The Cheese Ram". I tried to upload a video, but for some reason YouTube isn't taking it... so watch this example @ the 29s mark in Freydey's legendary GA Tribute video: You see that the goalie has the puck, and you can slam into him pushing him backwards and putting the puck over the line, while the goalie still has it, but it's a goal. I've never seen this in SNES, does anybody else know if SNES has the cheese ram?
