As of Wed Feb 15 the season officially begins! You have 2 weeks to get all 18 games in. Milestone 1: Wed Feb 22 (at least 9 games in by end of day) Milestone 2: Wed Mar 1 (all 18 games by end of day) At Milestone 2, Mar 1, the season is over. So, you need to get in 9 games per week, which is pretty steep. That said, according to the results page, everyone has at least 2 games played, so we are in pretty good shape. I have seen (some of) hokkee's posts to that effect. I think those are all good ideas. (I am not sure if you cherry picked.) But some of his "message" may have been lost in some very erratic, possibly drunken/high (or manic) posts he left, too. (Not to belittle a battle with the bottle, or mental issues.) The thing is, it is like herding cats trying to get change around here. It is slow, or doesn't happen at all. That is just the institutional culture here. Unfortunately. I think the best approach is exactly what you are doing: Make your own league, with your own rules, and enforce it as you see fit. I like your small, tight, quick Plablegs league, and I like your strict enforcement of the checkpoints. (I recognize it is a personal preference, and people have differing viewpoints.) You have taken action, and that may affect real change. That is the right approach. Lamenting on what could have been is a waste of time.

This is needed. We need to know what exactly we are talking about here, if we are going to judge it?

Special thanks to Atomic for putting the new funcitonality in place. The main P&P League page -- http://nhl94rocks.com/tourney.php?tId=1 -- does a lot. It is where you upload games. It is also where you see the current Standings, based on total wins. To see the score for each team, click the grey "+" button and it will expand things. This page was hobbled together quickly, so it is a work-in-progress. There is no limit on who can upload games, and what games they upload. If Coach uploads the same gamesave that I did, both will appear and be part of the Standings. So beware! (Though it is easy to delete games with the grey "X" button beside each game.) More to come...

Here is how to submit gamesaves: go to http://nhl94rocks.com/ and login choose "LEAGUE" from main navigation, to get to the "Princes and Paupers League" page from dropdown, select HOME and AWAY and upload a gamesave Boom! We need to see the scores, but I am encouraged he spit with FPB. (Especially cuz FPB said he wouldn't be available for a week, so I thank him for the special effort.) Coach is turning out to be the Tex of this tourney; gertting half his games in before others even start! Regarding scores, Chaos seems busy, so Atomic and I (mostly him) are hobbling together a page on nhl94rocks.com that will allow gamesaves, and at least show the scores, the standings and game info. We are *hoping* to have that up today, so hold on to those gamesaves!

The OT is 60 minutes long, so if you manage to tie a game, I will be very surprised!

Let's have some predictions. Because OT has been stretched to an hour, there will be no ties. I am hoping to go 12-6. But if these A guys can still dominate -- which I do not expect, and will be really impressed by -- I could go well below .500. On the B side, Atomic with CHI scares me (he just swept me in a 7 game series last night), and as people have stated, J&J has been on a tear lately. He is scoring pass shots through traffic now at will, and has definitely been winning most of our exis. I predict J&J or Atomic win it all. I predict Ice and Raph are able to win at least half their games. I think Ice's pass shots will still translate well, and Raph will be served by his CB checking and great goalie control, making him hard to score on. ------- Sounds like Brutus says an A will take it all (or at least some As will still dominate). Smoz makes only one prediction: he will finish last! Plabax says "B guys should win". As well, my main prediction is a B takes it all. Make me eat my words, guys!

First, I don't know about playing Raph ahead of time. We gotta take this guy down by giving him no warm ups! He will learn and adapt like a super-computer -- we need the element of surprise. Please, no more exis with Raph! But seriously, I look forward to seeing what he is doing, and the other A guys are doing, too. I know just what you mean by (usually) being in Survival mode. Let's slow things down and.... learn. One of the real motivators behind this for me is seeing what kind of fundamental, core skills the pros exhibit. Without much in the way of roster talent, these guys will have to beat us with solid positioning and strategy. Right? Especially defensively. I am going to try my damndest, but I hope I do get beaten soundly because I am going to be recording the games, and think there will be a ton to learn here.

Well I don't mind if the two Champs did such, but I don't want to officially sanction it at this point. The A guys are good sports to even participate in this Frankenstein league, and I don't want to "go to the well" too many times. The mandate going in was "small, light" filler league.

League News: The offical ROM is "NHL94PnP.bin", and is attached League set to officially begin Wed Feb 15; soft launch begins now We are still figuring out how to process the gamesaves to keep track of stats For the ROM, I just renamed the ROM Coach and then Smoz created. (Thanks a lot, you two!) SInce the draft is complete and ROM made, people can play official games if they like right now, to get a head start. Just be sure to keep your gamesaves. Once the season officially starts on Feb 15, the season is 2 weeks. Milestones are having 9 games by 1 week in, then last 9 games by second week. Nine games is a fair bit with some guys in Plablegs playoffs, hence the immediate soft start which adds an extra week. Good Luck to all, and thanks for participating!! Question: What happens when you take 5 of the best coaches and put them in a league with 5 solid B level guys? But the kicker is, the A guys are saddled with the worst teams on the ROM, and the B guys get the best teams? I ask because this experiment is about to unfold, in a mini league I call "Princes vs Paupers". Now is the time to speculate, because halfway through, we will know the answer. Right now it is pure conjecture. Can CB Master Raph STILL dominate when he plays what many consider to be the worst team on the ROM, the ANH Mighty Ducks? Or will he fail to win a single game? Will the A guys saddled with crap teams still be able to generate high scores, or will they be stuck trying to win clinging to 3 or even 2 goals, and playing sound defense? (Not 3 and 2 goal *leads*, I mean clinging to 2 or 3 goals scored total!) And will this league be fun, or will it be tedious after 3 games, with all vowing "never again!"? (The schedule is 18 games, no playoffs.) I salute the following A guys for even agreeing to this bizarre experiment: 1. Smozoma (SJ) 2. Depch (OTT) 3. FPB (FLA) 4. Raph (ANH) 5. Icestorm (TB) The B guys, who I do not salute, because I just know we are all doing this hoping we can get payback on the vicious drubbings we have taken at the hands of these pros, are: 1.
