PIT-DAL battle for 8th

Pretty good series played between jrodimus31 and myself. We're both in 8th/9th.

Dallas's offense goes on a rampage, scoring a season-high 7 goals. Things were close until I put Steve Thomas on, sparking 4 straight goals (1 goal and 3 first-assists for Thomas).

Essensa has a .286 save percentage. Bruhuhuhuuutal.

This looks more like a Dallas game. Brutally outshot 17-11, but having a 1-1 tie going into OT. Dallas wins the opening OT faceoff, but Nieuwendyk goes BALLISTIC, takes out Steve Smith whose corralled the puck near Roy, and pots the goal, just 7 seconds in.

Essensa lets in a disgusting goal from almost the blueline in the first minute, but then shuts things down with a number of impressive blocker saves. Nieuwendyk scores 2 from Jagr, for a close victory.

Dallas's game the whole way, a shutout for Roy, and probably a record number of shots for Dallas. jrod hit the post on a beauty pass-shot. 18 minutes of penalties.

Every series has 'the crazy game' and this was it.

Kerry Huffman gets a breakaway and puts away an incredible pass-shot deke (a-la swos).

Essensa blasts a rocket pass past Roy.

Hogue scores one, off-the-post-off-the-face-and-in

Overall, PIT gets 5.5 points and DAL gets 4.5 points, leaving PIT with a 0.403 pts% to end the season, and DAL with 0.400 with 19 games left. DAL needs 8 wins in their last 19 games to make the playoffs. The current Power Ratings for the two teams suggest that DAL can pull it off (.417 vs .410), but I think I got lucky in some of my earlier games. Anyway, should be interesting to see who gets in!
