    I'm a bit torn here. Personally I hate anything that brings more "chance" and randomness to the game. We've all had many games were the AI goes insanely aggressive and you find yourself short handed for the entire game.

    I'd vote to have no penalties but at the same time I'm diggin' the additional stats it creates. I voted 2 mins.

    Donch - Gotta say thanks for steppin up to the plate to ensure this league continues to run. My hat goes off to you. If there is anything you need from me let me know. I'm sure others out there as well are willing to help out too!

    Draft

    - Hybrid Draft

    - First 3 Rounds will be NON-SNAKING, Rounds 4-12 will be SNAKING.

    This way the advantage of a good draft pick helps but doesn't dominate the draft.

    I'm not sure if I follow how a non-snaking draft would stop the advantage of a good draft pick. I would think a snaking draft would ensure the most level playing field with teams. To me, this is what makes the Draft league so special. Balance.

    My suggestion: Have a snaking draft, but let the people with the top picks choose where they want to be in the snake.

    BTW, are there ever pick up games? I don't feel like I have the time to be in a league and just wanna have some fun every so often.

    Yeah, there are definitely pick up games. Just add some of the players on AIM and hit them up for pick up games. Just look at the league page (nhl94online.com) for some active players AIM names.

    Hi all, I'm thrilled to have found a site like this, I spent most of my waking hours playing NHL 94 and beyond back then, looking forward to getting back into the game!

    I only have one thing left to do, and thats buy a joystick for my laptop, I'm on Windows XP home, any suggestions for a decent computer joystick?

    Do I need any special hardware for this?

    Just hit the local Best Buy (or other electronics store) and get a hands on feel for a good control pad.

    Another option is USB adapters for your favorite console controllers. http://www.retrousb.com/

    Although I'm not in the 2on2 League I gotta say this is a great idea. If League night is a success and takes off I'm hoping it evolves or has a spin off Tournament Night! (1on1 of course :) )

    Weekly ad-hoc tourneys! I know they make programs to make some ad-hoc brackets. How sweet would that be?

    Whoa. Is there a stat tracking program out there to keep those player stats? I despise playing against the CPU, but a season mode might make it interesting.

    But in regards to your post, yeah Ottawa does suck some serious donkey balls. Hats off to Gens B's coach Trevor for taking em. Insanity!

    My Opinion: Ottawa should be banned from league play unless a true dominant 94 god appears. We've got lots of great talent out there, but I'm sorry no ones good enough to use Ottawa and make a run for the cup in league play.

    When I get some time I'll be all over testing this. P2P is where its at. (at least in theory)

    It still amazes me that there is such little interest. I'd actually test it tonight but I just cracked my laptop screen a few hours ago :P

    No one gains anything from it (unless you're insecure and need to win 14-3 to feel good about yourself. Or you want to scare the guy off so he never plays you again).

    I guess I'm insecure...

    In the end it really is about just having fun. Call me a selfish prick but I want to have fun too. And not giving 100% ain't fun at all. And no f'ing way I'm taking ottawa. That sure aint fun when every pass hits the back of your skates. If I see a shot, should I not take it? Not taking a good shot opportunity sure doesn't sound like fun either. If someone plays half a$$ against me cause he's up a few, that ain't fun, its more insulting.

    I have delivered and received many beatings. To those who I may have beaten and insulted or offended, I offer my sincerest apologies. To those who have kicked my ass, I thank you, congratulate you, respect and learn from you.

  23. GDL Season 3 Rules Discussion

    Does anyone know for sure that season 3 will even happen? Has anyone talked to Dmitry? Considering he hasnt had the time kick all your asses for not finishing up yet, who's to say that he has time to even setup season 3?

    I'm still up in the air about returning to GDL, or doing the 20 gamer. If GDL isnt going to happen, that definately is going to make my choice a lot easier.

    As far as recommendations for Season 3: All I can say is DEADLINES, DEADLINES, DEADLINES. Make em, and stick to em!
