  1. I've edited most of the stuff that there is to edit in this game (Centre Ice logos, Jerseys, made a 3rd jersey switcher, Menu logos & backgrounds, etc)... I'll post more when about it I have time, right now I'm at work.

PS: I was the one who made the 98 Nagano pack way back when.

Also, to the person that says the game has no speed, its possible DOSBOX isn't configured properly either. The game does have a slightly slower pace overall, but the intensity of the game does pick up at times and guys like Bure still fly around the ice. I think the biggest thing is that the AI is much better in the PC version than in the Genesis ones. I can win every game at will on the Genesis, but on PC sometimes the AI will just put up a wall and you won't be able to get anything by them.

The biggest things though are the inability to play this game online and the lack of 30 teams. Perhaps one day they'll add netplay to DOSBOX though.

Have to concur abut the defensive AI. They really batten the hatches, at times it can be hard to penetrate into the offensive zone (w/offsides enabled).

On the other hand the AI doesn't muster much of an offence. Rarely will the CPU put one past me ..When they do, it's usually off a deflection from a skater infront of my net, when I'm passing the puck with the goalie.

  2. I am able to play the updated '94 rom (by Swos) with a friend online, but every time we try to play a '97 rom the game freezes. Why is this?

Most of the EA Sports games don't work through Kaillera. Including the NHL series after '94. You could try using Kega, or an snes emulator, as most of the later NHL games are nearly identical on both consoles.

  3. Genesis you have to lightly tap the pass button.

    Easy on the pass.

Or the pass will be inconsistent. That's puss.

    Tap Tap Puss.

So the Super Nintendo's frames per second are not as great as Genesis. Really? dry.gif

    Not!

    Whatever!

    Could it be fixed Evan?

    Super Nintendo is choppy NO!

    Genesis is sloppy!

But respect that it's still 94!!!

I was with you all the way untill you said, "Genesis you have to lightly."

As gr81 said: Their are more ways to score on Genesis. Back hand floaters. Picking the far corner with a slap shot from the circle. Sharp angle dekes.

On Snes you're marooned to two options. 1 timer or deke.

The experiment states quite clearly and you can read it for yourself. It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal. You lose. Good day sir!

In case you missed that I'll translate in your idiom: "Whil3 I may b3 playing with pow3r. T3h Genesis gme has more more more!!!"

  4. If you wanted to actually play the games... i would be willing to offer my services to fill in...

however, since i have already filled in for edmonton... it would be up to the commish to allow me to join another team...

i just want to help make the 2on2 league successful... <_<

    addison,

When MJ spoke to me over the weekend I offered him an extension and he declined.

While Donch could fill the voild left by MJ at this point the season has gotten far too long in the tooth and it's best to put an end to this asap (hopefully this weekend).

Your welcome to come back for season 3 if you like.

  5. I loved this game as much as '94, and I didn't know if anyone had gone ahead and found the offsets to extract stats like with '94.

I figured I would play a game of '93 and see what I could find.

I have found the Team Stats, the Scoring Summary, and the Penalty Summary.

Tonight, I'm going to work on the penalties (see if they are any different), and find the Player Stats, the Team Select (Identification), and Crowd Meter.

When I find everything, I'll definitely post them up here (if someone hasn't already, sorry if this is a repost)

and hopefully I'll be able to make a version of my program for '93 support...or someone with database knowledge can use them for leagues with FIGHTING <_<

Good to see '93's getting some love.

'93 is the foundation on which '94 was built. But because it doesn't have one timers or goalie control it get's treated like a bastard child. Even without the improvements in '94 it's still a great game by it's own merit.

If you want to play some more '93 some time I'm allways game.

  6. IF you you can seed the NHL'94 record keeper to Hort22 can you please send it to me. I cant seam to get to the site for version 2. I love what you have come up with. Back in 1994 i Played the whole season OF the Philadelphia Flyers and wrote down alll the stats by hand so if i can get this it would be much apreceated.

From a Philly native much respect! '94 used to serve as my crystal ball by doing demo games for whoever the Flyers would play on the eve of a matchup. Tocchets insiders had nothing on me.

    Record keeper looks great Donch!

  7. thats what the manual said as well but it still wont work...unless i am doing something wrong...also if that is erased will all the player cards get erased...like when the CPU goalie had 62 saves against me?

    or just the user records?

    Both I think.

Turn user records on in the menu, then during a game go to record holders at an intermission (or when you pause it). Press A + C to erase the records.

  8. Deadline has come and gone.

When I saw MJ a few days ago I told him you guys were looking for him and gave him a link to this thread. I'll give monkeyjuice untill Tuesday the 20th to reply or LA advances into the finals by way of FF.

  9. Moog looks like Hannibal Lecter in his player pic. Like he's ready to gnaw on a brotha.

Adam (Quaker) Oates was one of the premier playmakers in the game, and one of the best passers ever. Had he remained in St. Louis Hull would have had at least a few more 60 goal seasons (none of which he had once Oates departed). He was a allaround class act, unselfish player. I allways like playing with Oates in '94.

  10. That's what I was doing...are your standings and player stats updated with the completion of each game? I had played about 5 league games and my standings and player stats for the league were all still zeros, even though I was half-way completed with the calendar in the first month of the season. :)

After a game did you return to the calendar and then go back to Sports Central? I don't think it saves unless you do.

The supreme nasal powers of Brid'Amour, Leclair, Recchi, and the Legion of Doom have been restored in Philly. I'm gonna take them to the cup. With the offsides on haha.

  11. Thanks wboy for breaking it down (as usual). I wasn't sure how to mount the virtual cd drive. Fortunately dosbox detected my gamepad instantly as it did with NHL Hockey.

To my suprise 95 is nearly identical to NHL Hockey aurally and visually with the exception of a few enhancements, like the ice and intro screen. The token reporters they have during intermissions look like they belong in the loafer section of a Sears catalog.

How about those killer tunes? Makes me want to release my inner mullet.

The game play feels like a hybrid of the Snes and Genny versions. Most of the ways to score are present but the goalies won't bite on cross creases and slappers aren't as potent.

If EA managed to get manual goalies into the pc version and transplant the gameplay intact from Genny it might have a chance to dethroned the console versions of '94.

Although I wonder how to get it as sharp as this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykFmjLdsTU0...ted&search=

xp makes dosbox's emulation a little slow causing some grainy play. Use Ctrl + F12 to speed up the cpu until it's smooth enough (usually around 10500). If you go a little to far, Ctrl + F11 will bring it down.

I have one more question before I royally make everyone want to kill me...for anyone playing the game and doing a season, do your season statistics save? Is there some trick to getting them to save?

I started a season and played like 5 games on my team's calendar but everytime I would check the standings for my leagues they wouldn't be updated- nor would the individual stats for the players. The weird thing is during the games, when I would score goals, the game would keep track of the player's goals on the season. For example, in my 5th league game scoring summary for a goal would look like:

Calgary goal scored by Theoren Fleury (5th of the season)(Nieuwendyk, Titov) 4:32

But when I am at the menu for my league, after my team in the season has already played 5 games on the calendar, all the standings are still 0-0-0-0-0-0. All the individual player stats are 0-0-0-0-0-0.

Anyone shed some light? Then I will retreat into the darkness, I promise!! :)

They are saved automaticlly. When you want to load the season again go to file > open > select the season > then select the next league game.

  12. The matchup between PITT and EDM was completed 2 weeks ago. PITT won 4 games to none. I want to thank DaDonch44 and Logan for filling in as interim head coaches.

I haven't decided what to do about the showdown between CHI and LA. But I will before this coming Sunday (Feb/18).

Measures will be taken next season to ensure that this dosen't happen again. In all likely hood the league will also return to it's tried and true 4 team format.

  13. Love the zamboni!

Who has to clean up all the debris when the glass is shattered? Who has to pick up all the hats after a hat-trick? And who never misses a game? Guy gets no respect.

Would have made it to the pros had it not been for his knee. Now you can find him boiling frozen hot dogs on a portable propane pilot after hours in the janitors office; living off concessions and left over fan-giveaways.

  14. i just bought nhl07 and have spent two days on it and nhl94 still rules !!! they just try to do too much to the game with too many stupid add ons and cheap easy cross front goals and slow manual goalies and trying to manuver and stick handling sucks they should have kept the stick handling on right analog stick like nhl05.they are so stupid they should keep it simple like nhl94 and maybe improve other things like graphics and stuff it just makes me sick to my stomach how badly they make hockey nowadays good thing they have this site (nhl05 was about the best since 94)

    Amen.

They've made the controler schemes wayyy to elaborate. I get discombobulated instantly trying to play with two sticks just to control the player. It's also frustrating to try and adapt to the newer games when there are certain moves and plays in '94 that you know will light the lamp every time, but are ineffective in the new games. Makes the goals more random, but it takes away from the strategy imo.

EA has to pull as many rabits out of the hat as they can otherwise people will think that they are staginating and just releasing the same game every year (which is basically the case).

I wish they would just take the game engine from '94 and slap polys on it. Or release the NHL games with a '94 mode thats unlockable or something.

  15. I apologize if this has been done and I just haven't found it yet, but has anyone imported the 92 rosters and player attributes for use in 94? If not then it's something I'd take up eventually. I'd like to have the North Stars back, the Christmas Devils jerseys, and Oates and Stevens back on the Blues. Playing 92 is great, but it would be better with one-timers, goalie control, being able to edit lines during the game and having the actual player names.

The Ducks and Panthers weren't established untill '93, so you would have to find a way to fill those vacancies. Mabye the Efferdent All Stars with captain Chris Chelios to replace the Ducks. And Shanahan captaining the Centrum Silver-Manes filling in for Florida.

The '95 rosters to '94 would be a cool idea. Most of the player cards from '95 are already present .
