Wboy brought this topic to my attention, here it goes. Which game do you prefer, NES94, GEN94, or SEGACD94? what are the gameplay differences? what are the resolution differences? Which has the best gameplay?

Hi Evan. I followed all the suggestions above, I redownloade the nhl94iso as specified, configured the bios and the game still does not play on the emulator. When I load the game, the sega cd screen comes on, followed by a screen with sonic and some sega music, then the emulator screen goes blank. Are the data files on the website missing something?

Evan, is there anything that I need to do (put in a code to edit the sega cd version to play it?) i loaded the sega cd version and i got sonic, then the game itself never loaded nhl94.

No they don't play better. They play the same. The overall rating is just an indication of a teams strength based on the 5 best players overall ratings for each team.

EVAN!!, Hey Evan thanks for the tips on how to find the players names in the hex program. I was wondering if you could help me with one more thing. When I try to play the sega cd iso file on the gens emulator to test what changes I ahve made, I get an error message that says (configure directories/options/file/menu....) do you know what this means? thanks

Do you think Hasek can score because of his stats in the areas in hex we were supposed to leave at zero? this would be an interesting find, cause then we could create goalies with better or worse passing ability other then offensive awareness.

Oh, how is the online playability different from the sega genesis? is it faster, slower, better, worse?

I am in university right now and broke, is there an online league that we can play for a minimal or zero entry fee, for braggining rights? I am very interested in joining an online league, and I think wopap would too. If there is any info please post it, or send me a message. thanks soccer1

I have only played the SNES version once, I am a genesis supporter. What is it about the SNES that everyone loves? Do you like the powerbar for shooting?

Evan, my cousin wopap and I are duying to play our games on any sega, how much is the totek? what does it do, does it only burn 1 game per purchase? because if it is resonable i would buy some. We eant to play the greats team verison rom i made of nhl94 on the sega version. thanks

Pittsburg is a major dissapointment in the game, Barasso is decent, but they are too slow, no one can hit and they all get knocked down too easily. Now, just because they lost to the NEW YORK ISLANDERS, it doesn't mean they were a bad team. I question the creators of this game, because Pittsburgh was the former two time cup champions, and Lemiuex was in his prime. That was my biggest dissapointment in NHL 94. I also thought Macinnis was way off, he and Hull had deadly shots which they scored on regularily during the 1994 season, in the game both are useless because of no shot accuracy.

Scoring wins chapionships, if you can't score you cannot win. Defense suppliments scoring to provide more goals for then against. Of course teams that can't defend lose, but teams that can't score lose just as often. Good goaltending and good offense/ checking wins in 94, or speed which creates better hitters because of momentum. But Boston as good as their defense is, has a terrible goalie, and no offense beacuse Neely gets too easily knocked down. Now Toronto can score because of Gilmour, so they are a good team, but they also have a good goalie. Therefore, good team ='s good quick scoring forward, + good goaltender. Speed and checking are also important. Offense is most important, because if Gilmour couldn't score or pass/stickhanlde Toronto would suck! they would never score.

defense isn't as important in video games if you cant score, in fact defensive teams need to score to win, wothout goals they'd only tie and not be champions. So although I agree with good defenses help win, a good offense, like the buffalo sabers can give you a goal at any time. that is what can make champions. And every player in 94 that we felt got knocked down to easy, by hex editing them, we increase their ability to score. We all recognize that Lemiuex was the greatest player in hockey during the 1994 campaign after fighting cancer. In the game he is rated high but not effective. If we improve him on the hex program we are improving him to be more offensive, which is what wins games. No one uses pitts because they are slow and can't score. so i thik scoring is the key even before defense.

oh man, so i played wopap on the weekend and used Vancouver and lost 7-6 and had two goals go through mcleans legs from the wing and centre from two shots in the third period, in a 5 min game. Mcclean is terrible, i hate chevalde but Mcclean is so bad I'd rather put rasico in net. So unless a version with a better mcclean is out van is out of the question.

Hey kgman, sounds like a deal, as soon as we can get some more players for the tourney, lets say 8, we can get together after April 22 and have an NHL day. May the best man win. I am sure i'll be pushed to the brink with competition such as wopap and yourself kgman. We need some more supporters in the Tornoto area though!!

Because C button clicked is wrist shot (valuable in close), C button held is slap shot (equally as important) so A is the only button that makes sense. B is for pass, and held or clicked decides on the accuracy of the pass.

Nthing wrong with 95 joe, I personally didn't hate it, I find the slower pace of 94 better for playability, and I like the higher offense.

Hey, kgman, I am going to woop your @## with wopap in that tourney. IF it is the gensis version. The playability is better I find. Hey, where is everyone else in Toronto, we could set up a Sunday 94 hockey day in Canada. 5$ entry fee. And make the game longer, a 7 game series would take forever. The trash talking begins, who will be left standing in the end!

Hey thanks for the reply. I am almost certain, from playing 94 that I think rebounds are a direct result of puck control rating. I think this is the reason Potvin and Fuhr are better rebound controllers then Belfour. I could be worng though. Thanks for the tip on one timers. For manual goalies, it might be a good idea to slow down the speed of all the goalies, i.e. Roy. Belfour, so for Manual control they are easier to get from post to post and make stops. Just a comment. Actually, It would be great if there was no automatic control, i find it changes the game.
