  1. As a kid, I had my faithful size small, white Oilers jersey my mom bought for me when we were in West Edmonton Mall the day of

. I wore it to the game and was ecstatic when my team won 3-2 to go up 3-1 in the series. I wore it the rest of their '92 playoff run & (the lean) years after. I sadly outgrew it and think my mom donated it to Value Village :( I had a friend in high school who had a job and would buy hockey jerseys for street hockey. I was jealous of his growing collection; getting a job in the small town would've been tough, being I lived a half hour out of the town and didn't have a car until halfway through Grade 12. But I think that's where the idea for my collection came from, I've always been interested in new logos, jerseys, goalie masks, ect., and even now catch up on the new/rumored designs on icethetics.com.

The first jersey I bought was the navy Oilers jersey in 2003, next was the black Team Canada alternate in 2004, and then from 2005 to now is the time frame I've added to my growing collection. Women have shoes and dresses, some buds have hat collections, I have a jersey collection. Thanks to eBay & Olympian Sports here in Saskatoon for contributing to most of my list. Enjoy fellow 94ers.

  2. As an Oiler fan, I won't miss Hemsky or Khabibulin if they are traded. Both have underachieved & are injury prone and clearly have been passed on the depth chart with the talented, new kids. I don't know if Dubnyk is ready to be a #1 yet but if EDM can score another young talented, affordable goalie (Harding, Bernier, Schneider, ect.), both would be pushing the other to play harder & improve.

As for Smyth & Gagner, I don't see either moving but it could still happen if the offer is right. Smytty has a no-trade clause and has publicly said he's not waiving it, even to be a rental. There was talk of sending him to the Rangers for a playoff run and have him resign back with the Oilers in the offseason as a UFA. As for Gagner, even before his 8 point game & 14 pts in 4 game run a few weeks ago, I was not a fan of trading the 22 year old center. He's coming into his prime years & playing with the new kids, he will find consistency as the Oilers #1/#2 center for years to come.

As for others on the block: I can see Nash going to the Leafs for possibly Schenn, Grabovski, and a high draft pick. The Flyers are in the mix too. I guess we'll see what shakes down February 27th.

  3. As a forward for my ball hockey team, I'm a solid 2nd line winger.

    Jersey # - 84

    Position - F (usually a LW)

    Handedness - Left

    Weight - 156. Ya, I'm a small dude.

Speed - 4. Got some wheels, just not the leg span.

Agility - 5. Good balance staying on my feet, moving, adapting, and pivoting.

Off.Awareness - 5. Always looking for offense and seeing the play.

Def.Awareness - 4. Keep my player in check up high, and smart on the PK.

Shot Power - 3. Not much for power, I stick to wristers/dekes.

Checking - 3. Get bumped around sure, but never backing down & holding my ground.

Fighting - 0. Banned in the league.

Stick Handling - 4. A couple good and creative moves to get by & score.

Shooting Accuracy - 4. Just put it on net!

Endurance - 4. Good shape, usually tired but not exhausted.

Roughness Pass/Shot Bias - 3. Pretty even bias, I'll look for a pass first but will shoot on a chance.

Passing - 4. More assist then goals, pretty good at feeding an open man.

Aggressiveness - 2. Taken a few penalties for battles and retaliating.

    Overall - 82

I'm also the back-up goaltender for my team when the #1 can't make it to our games.

Also a regular floor & street hockey goalie.

    Jersey # - 00

    Position - G

    Handedness - Left

    Weight - 156. I'm 5'7, so I don't take up a lot of net like a Pekka Rinne.

Speed - 4. Solid in moving around the crease.

Agility - 5. Style of Hasek & Thomas in net; I make some desperate/crazy saves lol.

Off.Awareness - 5. I love playing the puck out of crease & passing it up.

Def.Awareness - 4. Rare mental lapses, anticipating the play and shot.

Puck Control - 4. Experienced handing the puck, can get me in trouble sometimes though.

    Glove Hand - Lefty.

Stick Right - 4. Right-handed stick in net, good on low, right shots.

Stick Left - 3. Average on low shots on my glove side, not my favored leg.

Glove Right - 4. Blocker is alright, can get beat on angles.

Glove Left - 5. Quick glove for hockey & from playing baseball, which helped.

    Overall - 74

  4. I played NHL '93/'94 on Super Nintendo & '96 on the Genesis religiously as a kid. I was in college for graphic design in 2004/05 and a classmate told me about playing classic games on emulators. First game that popped in my mind to try was the EA NHL series. I must've done a Google search and came across this excellent site, which was just getting started at the time.

Scary to think I joined in the Spring of 2005 & only came back now. A couple weeks ago, somehow came across a ROM website and started playing old-school games again. I remembered this site when I started to play NHL '94 and holy sh*t! I've missed out on quite a bit in the past 7 years. I've been addicted to playing custom ROMs and (learning to) hacking '94 & '96 since returning. I promise myself never such a sabbatical again!

  5. I keep getting an "I/O Error 103" when I try to load any of the NHL roms (.bin) files I have. I'm also editing a NHL '96 Genesis ROM and need help finding the correct palettes for some of the graphics. I've done the home/away uniforms & ice logo thanks to the guide posted in this forum, but how do I find a specific palette and it's size for another section I'd like to edit? Is there somewhere in one of the game/graphics editors (NOSE, EARE, Hex Addict, Tile Molester, Tile Layer Pro) that tells you the decimal value of the palette you need?

I.E. I'm editing Chicago's main menu select team graphic with an offset of 00153162. The codec is 4bpp linear, & importing a palette I have set to is 9bpp BGR Genesis format, and Byte Order is Motorola. I've been stuck for a few days, newly addicted to hacking a game I enjoy, but after picking up everything on the go I have met my match. Any help is greatly appreciated, and a huge thank you for the posted directions in editing the game. I wouldn't have come this far without your guys help.

  6. So I just downloaded an SNES Emulator off SNES 9x and NHL '94 ROM off ROM Nation and while I'm having a blast playing with the old-school gameplay, teams, and players, I was curious if anyone had taken it upon themself to create an updated version of NHL '94 set in the 2004/2005 NHL season (lockout not with standing).

I ask this after I read Evan's 'Game Editing' article, and knew I didn't have a shot at trying to customize NHL '94.

If anyone is currently/wants to work on this suggested project (if a ROM isn't currently availiable) and get this in motion, I'm more then willing to help out. I know I could create the rosters, with each player's detailed stats on an attribute, set the team bi-color banner, and grab images of the team's logo's and respective players. It's just the technical game editing that holds me back from taking it further.

EA is really sitting on a goldmine, as mentioned previously...
