the OT is set to 60 bc of continues OT in the playoffs. it is a playoff edition rom.
as for how to change it to default, probably could use the NOSE program. but im not sure!!
edit - tried to open this bin file in NOSE, said its not a supported file. huh?
it opened in ERARE though.. weird!!
if someone can open it in NOSE, can you then make the OT default and then post that bin for us?

this bin has been working for my buddy and i online with no issues at all!!

After further deliberation: download whatever rom you want to patch. Rename it to [rom]patched.bin. Patch it. Then send it to your opponent.
you can name it whatever you want prior to patching it.. i named the one we use "NHL 94(Playoff Edition 2011).bin" just played about 8 games with the other guy who got the file from me, plays perfect.
just once you patch the file, you cant rename it..

i renamed an NHL94 bin file to what i wanted, then i patched it after that. works perfect now!! just cant rename after you patch it..

well, after having issues last night with the 2011 file.. not synced up with the other guy online, we got it to work..
now today, that same file, wouldnt work... trying something else here in a few mins!!

gens 2.14 works perfect as well.. no issues at all with saves!!

figured out what the issue was..
i rename my rom files.. so the rom names didnt match up, so im guessing that was the problem. weird thing is it at least loaded and we could get in a game earlier this afternoon.
bc we downloaded the above, didnt change anything and it worked!! lol
now, i changed the rom name, he didnt.. loaded up, whoever wasnt the host, got a black screen. renamed it to something that was the same again, and it worked!!
weird!! lol..
all good now though.. thanks for helping out!!

KUPuck (vinnie) and I have been using the playoff update of jesus' rom and it works fine online for us.
can you post that file you use so we can see if it works for us?

you know whats funny, we tried that rom, and that rom only.. we will try some other ones like the 91 rom etc later on!! hopefully its just an issue with that file and that file only. bc with the normal 94 rom it worked.
i mean, the 2011 playoff one did work, but somehow gets out of sync during play. it doesnt drop us, we can still pause it, but when we go back in the game im ahead 30 secs or vise versa lol..

hey guys, dont mean to hijack your thread, but since you guys are using a custom rom file for the league i figured id ask my question here..
my buddy and i just got netplay etc up and running. we can play the original un edited NHL 94 rom file perfect. but when we play say the updated 2011 playoff edition version we get a delay so to speak in game. where im 30 seconds ahead of him etc.
can someone explain why that happens? what causes it to happen etc?
any info would be great!!

help please..
my buddy and i got everything set up right (or so we think), we can get in the games, select teams etc.. but when we get in the game, we lose each other. meaning, its like im playing a game vs the cpu and the same for him.. 15 to 45 seconds of game clock behind or a head of each other.
can someone help us out here? let us know what we doing wrong? we have same versions of gens, same netplay etc.. whats the issue?

edit - we can play the original NHL94.bin without a problem. its when we play an edited version say the new 2011 Playoff Edition, where we get the delays in the game.
how do we fix that? or can we only play certain files online?

hey guys, was playing a playoff mode game and thought, could they add the "Stanley Cup Playoffs" logo at center ice, along with the team logo still?
can that be done? or would it take up to much space etc? just curious..

as a Pens fan, only downside, the vegas gold dont show up very well on the Uni's, but oh well, no big deal..

ahh ok, that makes sense now that i think about it. bc thats where the "user records" used to be.
i was gonna set that up for myself and a few buddies, gonna hook this up to the TV and have some old school matchups. ill turn it on and see what it does lol.. if it crashes on us, then i will turn it back off.

how would i go about that though?
like just get any NHL 94 rom, make sure the OT is set to 5 mins, then patch it?
or i would need to dig into his files and somehow change the OT before i patched it onto a nhl 94 rom?
