  1. Call me Mr. Vegas.

B standings currently are. with (my predictions)

    1. Wookie (1)

    2. Me (9)

    3. Egg (3)

    4. Iceguy (4)

    5. Kupuck (2)

    6. Mcarthur (6)

    7. ProBob (8)

    8. Robbie (9)

    9. Pearate (5)

So I at least placed 4 in the top 5 that made it there. By some stroke of pure luck by the NHL94 craziness I sneaked into the top 5. Total mystery and still in disbelief. But I think this calls for free beer to paid to me by all betters. Since beer does not travel well in binary please donate with visa, mastercard, or paypall.

  2. I think people are misinterpreting what this list is actually about. It's about the quality the fans get for the money they spend.

Keeping that in mind, it makes perfect sense that Phoenix would be the best and Toronto would be the worst....

Phoenix made it to the conference finals this year with the lowest ticket prices, parking, and concesions. Toronto missed the playoffs (once again) with the highest prices in all three categories.

And just for the record, Columbus did make the playoffs more recently than Toronto, in addition to the major difference in prices.

I get all that but I was making fun of how high their rating is for the Blues winning it all in our lifetime. We're cursed dude.

  3. Hey, guys! I just checked ESPN.com and I found this list on which ones are the most popular teams based on a number of elements you'll see in the link? You'll never guess which NHL team ranks the highest on the list. Go on, guess!

    ....................................................................

Give up? It's the Phoenix Coyotes on 6th, followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning on 7th!

    http://espn.go.com/s...on/teamrankings

Then the St. Louis Blues!!!!!!!!!! haha

These people obviously aren't gamblers because they have the TTR (Championships already won or expected in the lifetime of current fans) at 75!!!!!

After 45 years and 0 cups everyone knows that the St. Louis Blues are cursed and will always be cursed.

Name another franchise that has exercised as many piss poor decisions as the St. Louis Blues. Here are a few examples.

    1. Through 45 years the Blues have not drafted a player in the first round 19 times. 19 times. 19 times. Letting that sink in,,, 19 times. Including 1990 through 1995. 6 years in a row without a 1st round draft pick.

    2. They're the only professional sports franchise of the 4 major sports (NHL NBA NFL MLB) to voluntarily not participate in a draft. Did you get that? They said thanks, but no thanks we're skipping the 1983 draft. They did so because the ownership of the Blues tried moving them out of St. Louis to Saskatoon and the NHL blocked it. So to get back at the NHL the owners said, we're not drafting so there. (brilliant) Some notable names from that draft include (Yzerman, Lafontaine, Barrasso, MacLean, R.Courtnall, Neely, Gagner, Hasek, Probert, Bradley, K.Stevens, Tocchet, & Fetisov just to name a few)

    3. Scott Stevens. One of my all time favorite players. The Blues paid the Capitals 5 first round draft picks as compensation for signing Stevens because he was a RFA. Stevens played 1 year wearing the Blue note. 1 year. After that year the Blues signed Brendan Shanahan from Jersey. Shanahan was a RFA so for compensation Jersey wanted and got Stevens. You would think someone in St. Louis would have figured out this isn't exactly smart business but no it continues. After the 1993-94 season the Blues offered Stevens a contract. Five days later Jersey matched the deal and thus Stevens stayed in Jersey. But, Jersey found out that St.Louis had talked to Stevens before Free Agency had started. The league investigated for 5 years and concluded St. Louis had talked to Stevens before the start of FA. So guess what, Jersey was awarded 1.5million cash and 2 first round draft picks. So we the fans of St. Louis got to see Stevens play for 1 year at a cost of 7 1st round draft picks and a 1.5 mil cash payout. That level of stupidity will never again be matched.

    4. Through all of the above stated facts the St. Louis Blues managed to make the playoffs 25 years straight. Starting from 79-80 and going through the 03-04 seasons. With 0 appearances in the finals. So they managed to raise the bar every year on disappointment level dished out to the fans for 25 straight yrs ;-)

    5. The Blues are the last team (Thanks LA) from the original expansion 6 teams to never have won a cup.

So when your team is down and you're feeling bad,, just remember,,, it could be worse.

I will say that the Blues organization now does seem to get it from top to bottom. From connecting with the fans to trying to build within the draft. But,, we're cursed.

  4. The owners are rich guys, so many are probably the type who whine whenever government interferes with their business to spread money around, but when they're on the losing side, suddenly they need a salary cap and revenue sharing!

As an American and a small business owner, I don't want the gov. to ever interfere with my decisions. I'd no longer be a free individual if my actions were dictated by the gov. I'm sure Obama dreams of a USA where the gov. controls everything from deciding who lives and dies with healthcare to crushing the successful citizens so they have to rely on the gov more.

According to information online 17 of the 30 NHL teams lost money in 2012. There were only 6 teams that made over 10 million profit.

The Blues just got the 8th owner in franchise history during this offseason. They've averaged a new ownership group every 5.6 years since 1967. It's been said that the franchise has never turned a profit. I really don't doubt that. It seems the reason that some of if not all of the Blues' owners undertook ownership for stature, prestige, and a tax write off.

Take the ownership group that just bought the Blues. They're all rich. They're all local to St. Louis and own some of the biggest companies here. This group of people didn't sign on the dotted line thinking this venture would make them riches. The new group isn't going to come in and spend money that isn't being generated. The Blues are 16.5 million under the cap as of now. They still have to sign a few people but I wouldn't think they'll spend more than 3 or 4 million more for this years team.

The last lockout burned me pretty good. Not only did they not play hockey but the Blues ownership was gutting the team because they were selling the team. It was a double whammy.

Like I said before, this lockout only hurts the NHL as a franchise/brand and the fans.

  5. Rule number 1. If any circumstance exists that can be f'd up, the NHL will succeed in f'ing it up.

The last lockout happened because the owners cried there wasn't enough money and salaries were being inflated to a point that would bankrupt the NHL. I believed them then. Looking back I have my doubts but I still think a salary cap was a good idea.

Here's the problems with the owners crying. You have owners like in Minnesota throwing an absurd amount of money at Ryan Suter. 13 Years 98 Million for Ryan Suter?? It's happening all over the NHL where owners are spending far far too much money on players that aren't worth the value they are getting. Suter is a very good D. I think he's a legitimate #2 D on any team. He's not Lidstrom. He's not Paul Coffey. He's not Bourque. He's not Leetch. He'll probably never get close to hall of fame standards.

You can't have owners cry poor and then at the same time spending like it's monopoly money. Jiri Hudler signed a 4 yr deal with the Flames for 4 million a year (overpriced/50 pts last yr). David Jones with the AVS got the same, 4 yrs 4mil/yr (overpriced 37 pts last yr). This type of overpayment is rampant in the NHL.

My Blues were as guilty as anyone else in multiple cases. I'll never figure out why Keith Tkachuk got the kind of money he did. He seems like a good guy and a player you would want on your team but his lifetime earnings are just under 74 Million dollars. That's 5th all time for NHL players. Ya I know he's a 500 goal scorer but half of those were slapshots from the point that bounced off him and went in the net.

The problem with locking the players out is the only people the NHL hurts are the fans and the NHL as a franchise. Every NHL player is a millionaire. Their dogs eat out of gold dishes. You're not locking out grocery workers. These guys can go play in Europe or Russia for a couple of months if they want. Or they can play golf for an extra couple of months. Locking them out does nothing to their pocket book.

Way to go NHL on yet another F'up. You always come through.

(almost forgot to add that the last time the players were locked out, Bettman was making 2.5 mil/yr,, he's at like 8.5 mil/yr now, I'm sure he considers himself among the poor)

  6. I'll put Right Handed Jeff Carter on the block.

    ( OVR 86) (WGT 7) (AGL 11) (SPD 12) (OFA 12) (DFA 9) (SHP 10) (CHK 8) (STH 11) (SHA 12) (END 10) (RGH 9) (PAS 10) (AGR 9)

Not sure interest level. Would possibly trade for 2nd season draft pick depending on rules etc..

  7. I'll be trying things this league that I've never done. I'll most likely be switching lines up by the period. Playing the A guys I'm going to have to do anything I can to score as many goals as possible.

Saying that, I can't wait to get my hands on this rom. I started this draft thinking I'd build an all heavy team. I detest B button checking (even though it has its place) and love plowing people over with the C button. It quickly became apparent that lots of others were grabbing heavies way way down the list. So I figured what the hell, let's see how fast I can get with some forwards.

    My starting 3 F's are

    LW: Jeff Carter

    C: Jordan Staal

    RW: Patrick Kane

    Staal the biggest with a 10wgt & 11chk along with 10agi & 10spd

    Carter a litle faster with 7wgt, 11agi, 12spd with only 8chk

Kane's a speedster with 5wgt 13agi 12spd & 5chk,, he won't be C button smashing unless against the boards, but the fastest of the starting 3.

The second set of 3 F's are hell bent on speed, it may turn out to be a flop for me but should be fun as hell to have them blazing up the ice,

    F4: Brian Gionta 4wgt 13agi 12spd

    F5: Tyler Ennis 2wgt 12agu 12sod

    F6: Michael Grabner 5wgt 11agu 13spd

    Should be interesting at least

  8. The all mighty BUD Halifax asked me about the lack of trading so far in this league and this is what I told him the reason would be. There is an extreme gradual decline from Crosby to #300 overall. I won't go on about the specific ratings of players and how EA obviously goofed with many players. I do wish though the rating was 0-100. The 0-15 rating or however high it goes is way too vanilla.

And Raph you are the all time King of stats.

  9. TRADE:

Bay City Rollers swap 5th and 6th round picks with the St. Louis Sith Bloods.

Sicarius gets the 6th pick this round (up currently), and I get the 16th pick.

For the 6th round, I choose 9th and Sicarius chooses 19th.

    Confirmed

    Sith Bloods take Sheldon Souray
