  1. I know it's always been an issue of having people complete their league games in a specified amount of time, especially meeting checkpoints. There's nothing specific that brought this up, I just know it was an issue when I first played here in 2007 and it appears to be an issue that continues today.

What are your thoughts about having league checkpoints that could be incentive based?

Classic for example, each coach is to complete 8 games per week.

1st person to log 8 games that week = 3 pts

    2nd = 2 pts

    3rd = 1 pt

Each week follows the same formula.

At the end of the season, the person with the highest number of pts receives 3 draft picks higher in the following Classic league, 2nd gets 2 draft picks higher, 3rd gets 1 draft pick higher.

I haven't thought through the numbers but just wanted to get some discussion going around what the community thinks about incentive based checkpoints.

If you think it's a bad idea, that's fine.

If not, share some feedback or even better, other ideas.

  2. Damn EA, you're digging way back here but I'm loving it.

Hell, who even knew there would be an AJ and an EA in GDLXIII? That's the King of '94 effect for you right there.

    I know, right?!

I wish I could find some more league data from back around this time.

But it's awesome to go back to read these old threads... back when we were so young and innocent. haha

  3. I don't know about the goalie thing, I did pretty well with moog and casey over the past 2 seasons. after fuhr, roy, belf... does it really matter in the long run? Not in my book but that's just my opinion.

Of course, I'm not going to be the guy to get stuck with Hrudey either. lol

Oh EA, if you only knew what GDLXIII AJ had in store for you back then. :(

    hahaha

  4. Zalex/Lupz, this is for you.

Thanks to all who have scheduled with me through this thread, it's been a tremendous help!

For the remaining week of 11/2:

Wed: 7-10 CST (send me msg on what time works)

    Thu: OUT

    Fri 11/06: OUT

Sat 11/07: Flexible as long as you schedule here ahead of time

Sun: Flexible as long as you schedule here ahead of time

  5. Prices on Gamestop "Retro Classics":

    Mutant League Hockey: $59.99

    Ghostbusters: $34.99

    Zombies Ate My Neighbors: $29.99

    Mutant League Football: $19.99

Can't find it now (sold out?) but I'm sure I saw NHL'94 for $4.99

Ohhh Jer, never use Gamestop as a pricing reference... and especially don't buy retro games from them. They've been notoriously bad in this space whether it's delivery of working product or even delivering the game you ordered. Their return process on retro games I've heard is a little sketchy as well.

If MLH is priced at $60, it's a loose cart and that's still about $10 over the market price these days.

  6. I should be able to find you Tuesday or Wednesday this week. I plan on coming on during those time frames at least one of those nights.

Thanks AJ. Please post an update later once you have a better idea of day and time that you can be on.

If you or anyone else doesn't schedule Tue or Wed, I most likely won't be on that night.

  7. ..but Zombies! So hot right now.

Agreed... unfortunately, due to the rise in zombie popularity, it's causing the prices to run up on these games as well.

While it would be fun to run out to pick up a game like MLH for 10-15 bucks to play here and there, you can't even do that... this game is trending at about $100 right now. I can't think it's anything besides the current zombie rage since honestly (even though it's a fun pick up), like smoz said, the game hasn't aged tremendously well.

  8. For the week of 11/22:

    Mon: Out

    Tue: 7-10 CST

    Wed: 7-10 CST

    Thu: OUT

Fri 11/06: Maybe... but it wouldn't be until after 7pm CST

Sat 11/07: Flexible as long as you schedule here ahead of time

Sun: Flexible as long as you schedule here ahead of time

All games will need to be scheduled on this thread for me moving forward. If I jump on AIM and no one is around during a time I scheduled here, I most likely will not stick around.

I provide plenty of flexibility and heads up on scheduling. I will do my best to accommodate those who have scheduling conflicts with these times but what I list here is all my current availability.

  9. I couldn't help but notice that too. And to think I used to wonder why my parents never bought us more video games as a kid. The PS1 era was the best; a lot of new games for $39.99 and the "Greatest Hits" being sold for $19.99.

While you could get a copy of NHL '94 for ~$4 today, Shining Force 2 still commands its original selling price (and then some) in the retro video game market.

Well, maybe a loose copy will be around $4.

Gens complete will run you $10 at the cheapest

SNES complete will start on the low end at $15.

Sega CD complete you can find the cheapest starting at $7.

Bought a Mega Drive CD version recently for $25

Super Famicom loose is about $10-15

I bought a PC version simply named NHL Hockey that was $15-$20 brand new

If anyone spots a regular Mega Drive version... let me know. The one that was on ebay recently was $25 + $25 shipping... yikes

  10. A big thanks to EA and angryjay for playing :)

Monday will be the final day to play.

We're going to jump on at 7CST this evening. Puts me in a pretty tight spot. If I jump in tonight and AJ isn't around, I win the series.

AJ said he agrees to that

...at least I think he said that.

Glad you chimed in Plabax, you ever going to respond to my IMs to get classic games in? I see you online, quit dodging me bro ha

  11. You can land 6 button controllers on eBay for all-in $15 easily. If you look diligently, you can get them for $10. Passively they're always available for $18.

Still really curious to know how those replacement rubber pads Jer_33 got turn out. Honestly, one controller and 2-3 sets of those pads should be enough for a lifetime.

Raph, you just stick to classic Gens 6-button right?

Have you used any of the USB Saturn 6-buttons yet?

Was thinking about making a change but wanted to make sure it was worth the coin.
