Where Should the Kof94 III Be?

OR... Smoz's basement of course. My apologies for overlooking the obvious. :-)

Where Should the Kof94 III Be?

Agreed. There have been 2 out west, we need to head east. I feel like there's a pretty good 94 presence out there. There's VC, Bo and the Pitt contingent + all the guys in/around NYC... and if the Fins can make it, that would be awesome

    NHL'94 World Rankings List!

Smoz, I think there must be something wrong, Plabax didn't make the list.... ohhhhh that's right. 1st rule of top rankings, you have to make it to take it. @Plabax hopefully you can make an appearance to one of these buddy! .......... @HABS don't think I forgot about you, you're not off the hook... get your ass to Vancouver!

Raph, I really hope that behind those crossouts are not things like "brainstorm Chipotle order" "Bathroom trip for #1" "Bathroom trip for #2 (REMINDER: make sure to flush this time; don't want call from HR... again)" "leave troll message on forums as Plabax" --> b/c we all know Plabax does not exist IRL and is simply an entity that was created by Raph so he could let the evil out once in awhile (b/c no one can really that nice all the time!) OK, on second thought, I do hope that's what's behind the red there. lol

My girlfriend, Jill. haha In fact, that was news to me this morning that @kingraph wouldn't be there! What is this world coming to??? I have to echo Coach here, there's still time!

Very gracious of you Coach to put me in at a 25-1 shot. Smoz has beat me at every Ko94 event and even at Fleury of Goals in GB... I would swap him and myself. Could even make a case that him and Tex should almost even odds. Not sure who else from GENS will be there but lets just remember Coach gave Raph a run for his money in GB... I want some Coach odds! Vegas needs to know!

I was playing against AJ and Brutus about a month ago in Chicago and we were talking about how we were hoping you would be there. Anything we can do to persuade you to make the trip? I'm telling you from my experience, hanging out with the guys you've played with online for years is priceless. After the first Ko94 in Toronto, I couldn't imagine myself missing another one. The double bonus is @halifax runs a mean tourney! I know work is tough right now but I can remember the 2015 Toronto tourney vividly to this day and everyone I finally got to meet in person... since then, I've worked a lot of 80 hour weeks and you know, I don't remember any of those. Whatever happens, I think you're one that everyone would love to see at one of these events!

    Vancouver KO94trey Hotel HQ's

Good news... confirmed I will definitely have the adjoining rooms and they have HDMI & Composite inputs on their tvs so I think we'll be all set. I might just bring the Framemeister so we can get a good image and minimal lag on one of the HDMI tvs. If we had 1 more CRT or monitor, we could have 4 going at all times... that would be pretty cool. @smozoma@angryjay93@CoachMac@corbettkb

Great idea, Coach! Let's get those CRTs going for sure. I'll call LaQ now... now that I have booked, I need to call back anyway to make sure my note about the adjoining rooms is crystal since they said that was no problem.

Just for gaming... this one's on EA. Although, I may request to switch with someone else who has a king. That way, Jill can get away when she wants to crash out and we can have 2 rooms going next to each other. Hopefully that makes sense.

OK, I just booked 2 rooms at that LaQuinta that have a connecting door. We have a dedicated gaming space... spread the word please!

damn, just saw this sweet house we could have rented for 12 ppl < 1 mile from venue but that's ok. I'll book at TheQuinta now... I'll check into the adjoining room.

    Vancouver KO94trey Hotel HQ's

I was just checking in to see where everyone was staying but it doesn't look like there's been much input here. Is this being discussed somewhere else. I would like to book my trip early next week. I like the big house idea... give us more flexibility for exis instead of cramming inside someone's room at TheQuinta. Probably would cost around the same once we have enough people as well. Man stink builds up fast in those small hotel rooms. More importantly, more room = more consoles = more exis = more fun = happy Smoz (let's be honest, I think we can all agree that's the end game here)

Where Should the Kof94 III Be?

That's pretty cool. I've never been to Vancouver but I've heard nothing but great things about that city. While this is a little bit of a hike, this will definitely be worth the trip. I already spoke to Hali and he pointed out something about dates that the group in the US may not be aware of. I was concerned it might be the first weekend of Oct (Columbus Day weekend for US), however, it's Thanksgiving weekend to our friends up north so that weekend is out. Hopefully that works for more buds. Can't wait to hear more details soon!
  17. I would like to play on a stream next time.

Where Should the Kof94 III Be?

For Ko94III, I agree with @annatar, it should definitely be hosted in a city where there's proven local interest. While I would really like to see it happen in Chicago, that turnout in Toronto was really impressive. So if it happens not to be in Canada, I think the closer we get to Canada, the better turnout we should expect which is why I also thought Minneapolis was a good choice.

Really enjoyed the premier in LV but just wanted to follow up on when we could expect an official release? Looking forward to it, Mikey!

Attendance Wishlist at the next Ko94?

So this conversation came up a couple times in Vegas over the weekend... of all the guys, who do you want to see at a Ko94 tournament? OK, so first off, I wish every guy that has posted on this site was at every tournament but obviously that's not going to happen. So I'm limiting my list to people that have not participated in a Ko94 tourney. My active years on this site were many moons ago so my list will be from the old school group. In no particular order and my list comprises of people that I had the strongest connection with: 1. @HABS -- my 2on2 partner, one of the OG members on this site and a hell of a competitor. 2. @clockwise -- an established innovator who I wish had 48 hours in a day so he could dedicate time to build towards materializing just some of the ideas that were floating around when it came to 94. He is also one of the guys that helped me get set up on this site and really one of the nicest guys I've come across on here 3. @hokkeefan -- the original bad boy of the forums. You know, say what you want about hokkee, he played a lot of games in a lot of leagues and he was always up for exis. I think he would be a pretty compelling character to meet in person. @backhandfloater -- I met BHF through the forums years ago (turned out we lived a couple blocks from one another in Chicago) and we've remained friends since then. He would have made this list but we all got to meet him up in Vegas and he stuck around to watch the premier of Pixelated Heroes. Although, next time, I hope he will be able to participate in the tourney! Some honorable mentions -- gr8199, Dmitri, DaDonche, Carse, matthurray, tickenest, swos, the finland contingent, wboy (who I know has done so much for the site but I don't think I ever even played 1 exi against him even at my most active) Who would you want to see that you haven't seen at the next Ko94?

Attendance Wishlist at the next Ko94?

Hey aqua, I'm little surprised as well. Thought there would be more of a response. I think I would have had Ice on my list but I was able to compete against him in Toronto. I used to play against him way back and he is a top competitor now. Also, Brutus was after my time but I got to hang out with him in Toronto as well and I have to say, he is as fun and great of a guy as you would expect him to be in person. A real asset to the community and I'm lucky enough to live around Chicago with him ... although we need to take more advantage playing in person together.

King of 94 Tournament - Feedback / Improvements

Agreed. I hope you can make it to one of these some time. I was actually on the phone with Mark Lesser a couple days ago and he asked me about younger guys playing the game. I brought you up (I called you Plabax but I'm not sure if that's what you go by today) and how you've not only had a huge impact with your ability to quickly learn the game but how you've helped to continually push the gameplay with newly developed tactics. He is always pleasantly surprised to hear about the devoted fan base to the game but it felt like he was even happier hearing that there are younger players who are playing this game as well.

King of 94 Tournament - Feedback / Improvements

Not sure if this is Kevin who I played 2v2 with in the lobby but if so, good to see you on here and great feedback. I really like the idea of forum representation providing demos to potentially new members. Great playing you in the tourney as well! Hopefully we can get some exis on here at some point soon.

GENS: 1. AJ is the big winner 2. Raph 3. EA

King of 94 Tournament - Feedback / Improvements

Great feedback by @CoachMac here, I think he nailed it. I would have like to see an actual printed out bracket at the tourney... maybe with sliding boards that fit into slots (could have been cool but that is a luxury wish list item and definitely not needed) The one thing I would like to add about wanting more of though is ... MORE GUYS FROM THE COMMUNITY. I'm not saying this because I'm disappointed, I'm saying this because, believe me, you don't want to miss out on these events. I can't begin to describe the energy of the live tourney. It's one thing to play each other online, it's a completely different experience to sit next to great guys like @corbettkb ; @jackandjose; @Evan to name a few and battle it out game after game. There is a respect for one another & genuine comradery that comes with playing in this NHL94 community, it's difficult to put into words. You will never see it displayed in greater fashion until you play at one of these tournaments with one another. So if you have to start putting money away right now to save up for the next one or as soon as you know when the next could be, start making plans... don't miss it. The two Ko94s that I've attended are experiences that I will never forget and it's the guys on this site that make them most memorable for me. I just want to say @halifax -- you are one of the coolest cucumbers around. For everyone else out there, you should have seen this guy. There was so much going on at any time and he was always calm and collect. He made time to answer any questions. If there was an issue (like not having enough CRTs; gathering groups to go over rules numerous times; bouncing between to the Downtown Grand staff, the commentators, all the GENS and SNES players just to name a few), he made decisions quickly to remedy any situation. I'm sure there were so many adjustments that needed to be made along the way and throughout the actual day but I never noticed a thing b/c the entire tournament was seamless in execution. Big thanks, Hali!
