  1. I would like to thank everyone for playing this year! It was an intense season and the battle for the #1 seed was brutal! With 6 games remaining on my schedule I stood at 25-9 needing to win my last 6 games in a row to capture the Presidents Trophy. 4 against Toronto and 2 in Montreal! I didn't think I had a shot but somehow I won all 6 and pulled it out! After somehow sweeping Toronto, the last 2 games were against prorob (Montreal) at the forum. After winning the first game and achieving my goal of a 30 win season, I set out to win The Presidents Trophy! It was an incredibly tight defensive game until the 3rd when I went up 1-0. Then, with just over a minute left, Steen scored to make it 2-0! But on the following faceoff Montreal won the draw, and scored on a 2 on 1 to make the game 2-1 with 1:06 left!

Montreal pulled the goalie and after a scramble in front, Steen gathered the puck in an scored the empty netter! 3-1 final!

So the season ends with Winnipeg winning the #1 seed, at 31 wins. Where's my Presidents Trophy?!?!?! :D

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE AND NOW ON TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!

  2. Hey everyone, currently I'm having a problem with the center ice logos in the game. for some reason whenever you change the home teams jersey's colors, the center ice logo changes as well. Maybe this is a noob question but I've never come across this before, I'll provide some examples with pictures. Someone please just take a look at the pictures and if you have any inquires please let me know. I just don't get it? the only possible thing is maybe the RBK sprites conflict with the center ice logos somehow? I really have no idea, so if anyone isn't too busy and would like to help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks everyone.

The center ice logo shares the same colors as the uniform colors.

  3. Caps own the Rangers in the playoffs, Holtby's for real. More scoring depth for the Caps too. Washington in 6.

Holtby shouldn't scare anyone. He is no Lundqvist, and this Rangers team is not the same as years past with guys like Richards, Kreider and Hagelin. Rangers dominated the first 2 games but made 2 mental blunders, plus an absurd penalty call on Richards with 7:00 to go handed the Caps game 2.

Rangers in 5 or 6. Washington won't beat NY this time around. Rangers defense is too good.

  4. Looking good! Maybe Slapshot67 will update all his roms with your graphical update :P It looks amazing, and I like the modified team logos, neat little touch. My only comment from looking at the screenshots is that the added lines for the faceoff circle look a little thick and sharp compared to the rest of the lines on the ice. Maybe add a little bit of blurring with the lighter red to take the edge off? Otherwise I'm stoked for this.

Good point about the lines in the faceoff circle. I didn't do those. When the helmet patch was applied to the rom, it automatically also applied a new bench, new trapezoid, and new lines at the faceoff circle. I adjusted the trapezoid AFTER applying the helmet patch and I will try to now also adjust the faceoff circle lines. Slapshot67 (who did the trapezoid I want to use) also re-did the faceoff circle lines. I will try to put them in and replace the blocky lines when I get the chance. Slapshot's lines are blurred and blend in better.

  5. Dynamo & Deathsblood are the obvious 1st choices there. After them i'll be happy to help out if you need me

Deathsblood finished the year 30 wins 10 losses. Right now I'm sitting on 29 wins and 9 losses, with 2 games remaining in B. I'd love to go to Gens A but also wanted to see if I could beat Deathsblood out for best record in the league. Aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhh I don't know what to do LOL! Either way is cool with me though.

Hey Halifax if you need me in Gens A I'd be happy to go. If you think someone else would be better though or if someone else asked first, that's great too. Either way is cool with me. I can finish in B or jump to A.

  6. Thanks! Was playing Clockwise's version last night and @ 8:30 this morning..SICK!

Any chance I could add white ice..is there a patch? This is all new to me so I am giddy with all the new features.

Cant wait to have a tourney before FLyers Devils tomm afternoon :D

Ahhh see this is exactly why I'm working on my own version of the update. So you can enjoy the updated rom and at the same time, easily edit ice colors, update players, etc.

There is a program called "NOSE" that allows you to do just that (updates). It's in the downloads section of this site. It allows you to easily change ice color, add new players, adjust player ratings etc. Unfortunately with the Clockwise patch you can't use it in NOSE. It is incompatible.

But the rom I'm working on will have similar player ratings to the Clockwise version, but with the added ability to open the game up in NOSE so you can easily edit things like ice color and players. Plus an updated trapezoid, updated screen logos etc.

But hey there is still a way to add white ice in "hex editor" but that's a little hard to explain. I will add white ice for you though if you'd like, and send you the rom. What's your email address? :)

  7. Newbie here...you guys are geniuses!

I am dying for this update. I got the 2010 version, but I dont want to play with those 2 dbags on the Flyers (Richards & Carter). Any idea when this will be released?! It looks incredible!

Hey man, welcome aboard!!! Just wanted to let you and everyone else know this project is still in the works. The first version I plan to release will have everything in it except for the player cards. That will come in later editions, but I will also continue to release future editions with generic player pictures as well for those who want to update the game themselves (in NOSE) without the hassle of also updating the player cards.

I am just waiting on slapshot67 to release his NHL12/13 update because I'd like to use that as a base for this graphically updated rom. I really love the way he does the ratings, the feel of the game is excellent.

Of course Clockwise as always does a tremendous job as well, it's just I can't open his rom in NOSE. That's a big reason I'm creating this rom. I wanted to create an updated rom everyone can easily update themselves in NOSE yet with all the trimmings of the clockwise version, with added new features (screen selection logos, updated trapezoid, etc).

Progress is going well though. Once slapshot releases his latest version, this rom will be off and running, and ready for full release!!! :D

  8. Here are my updates for 93 and 94, you can get them here

    Updates will follow, Enjoy

Hey man, hope everything is ok! I sent you an email. Looking forward to your latest updates, you do the best job as far as rating go. Any idea when you might be coming out with an update? Just curious. Thanks!

  9. Sens are very impressive so far in this series, NYR doesent seem like an elite team at all.

Well the Rangers are moving on to Round 2. Canucks, Bruins, and Penguins are 1 and done. Are they not elite teams? Canucks won the President's Trophy. Bruins were defending cup champs. And Pittsburgh won like 12 in a row near the end of the year. Anything can happen in the playoffs!!!

This is just how the Rangers play. They don't win games 6-1 like Pittsburgh. They win games 1-0 or 2-1. But they do WIN (for most part)! They find ways to win! They play a physical defensive game and rely on their goalie!

HOME ICE THROUGHOUT WITH VANCOUVER OUT OF THE PICTURE!!! WHOO HOO!!!

  10. You get 10,000 $ fine for saying"

“I had a hard time. I saw exactly what happened,” Quenneville said. “How four guys missed it tonight, it was hard. The refereeing tonight was a disgrace.”

and you get 2,500 $ for this

You think that's bad? Torterella got fined $50,000 for calling Crosby a "whiner" (which we all know the little b***h is). And now the Rangers are in danger of losing to the Sens in Round 1 in large part because our main speed weapon Hagelin got suspended THREE GAMES for an elbow to Alfredsson, who is made out of glass.

Yet Carkner, who basically ASSAULTED BOYLE with sucker punch after sucker punch while he was DOWN ON THE ICE and who has done this PREVIOUSLY gets 1 game??? Shanahan is a real JACKASS who doesn't have a f'n clue what he is doing.

  11. You can pass shot from a deke both forehand and backhand, coming in diagonal or straight down, shooting it diagonally or lined up to a corner, crease-cut, etc. There are more ways...I know 'cause I've been the victim of them all! :P

For example, here's swos scoring three backhand pass shots for a quick hat trick:

LOL ahh ok I see now. Instead of a straight shot, switch to backhand then pass (shoot). Pretty f'n sweet move I must say.

  12. Meh that tutorial just shows the same goal over and over.. there are many pass shots not just that one. I'd like to see swos do a tutorial.. he has always been the best pass shooter IMO although sebe seemed to master his one where ur charging straight down then suddenly pull it to the outside and pass it straight down and in

Yeh I never said it was the greatest video ever. Just a simple demo I did for fun. The pass shot where you charge straight down and shoot it straight in is actually a lot easier to pull off than the ones demonstrated in my video where you pass the puck in the net from far out and from the side, especially when you are closer to the boards. It takes perfect timing.

Charging the net straight down then doing the pass shot "straight in" really makes no sense unless a defenseman is bearing down on you and you dont have time to "fake left, go right" and just do a standard deke/shoot move. If you have a clear breakaway there are better options. The pass shot is most effective in the video I posted because it will catch the opponent off guard.

Other than that, I can't think of many other ways to score on a pass shot other than passing it in through the goalies 5 hole. So I'm not sure what "many other ways" means.

I was pretty well known around here back in 2006 for the pass shot. People used to IM me all the time asking "how to do it" but it's really not that easy to explain. I have never really played SWOS but I'll take your word for it that he's good at it. Maybe you weren't in the league yet in 2005/2006. I honestly don't remember, sorry.

  13. Pass shots are old, but it's just the better players who use them, since they are hard and are needed to beat the better players. cr0ssbar was doing them in 2005 or 2006 and i still haven't seen anyone use it as effectively from the faceoff dot as him

'weird angle slapshots trough the fivehole' I have not heard of, though!

Hey thanks for the compliment man. I used to be cr0ssbar for those who don't know, and I created this little video years ago:

It basically just gives an idea of the premise behind the pass shot. Basically, the way to master the pass shot is knowing when to release the puck on net. If you are closer to the boards, you have to release the shot earlier (when you are further away from the goalie). If you are just to the right or left of the goalie, you have to wait until you are in close to him to release the shot.

Kind of hard to explain, it just takes a lot of practice. I left this site for years but just came back this year. I still use the pass shot, but not as often as I used to. The reason is because when you play onlinem it makes it that much more difficult to pull off (due to lag) and if I miss, it usually leads to a turnover and a great scoring chance for my opponent.

I tried to perfect the shot in honor of Mark Messier, who's signature goal was the "wrong handed wrist shot".

I am now more onto my latest "goal scoring invention" which involves skating just past the blue line on the left or right side, and tapping the C button to release a quick shot on the goalie. The puck then bounces off the goalies head (causing him to go either far right or left of the net), while I simultaneously charge the net. I collect the rebound, and instantly shoot the puck to the opposite (empty) side of the net and score.

I am not sure what to call this goal.

  14. My link

The NHL has fined New York Rangers head coach John Tortorella $20,000 US for his comments following Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Tortorella was furious after the game, which included a knee-on-knee hit by Pens defenceman Brooks Orpik on New York forward Derek Stepan.

"It's a cheap, dirty hit," Tortorella said. "I wonder what would happen if we did it to their two whining stars over there. I wonder what would happen. So I'm anxious to see what happens with the league with this. Just not respect amongst players. None. It's sickening."

Orpik, who was assessed five-minute major penalty on the play, was not disciplined by the league.

"[The Penguins] whine about this stuff all of the time, and look what happens?" Tortorella said. "It's ridiculous. But they'll whine about something else over there, won't they?"

Tortorella also attacked Penguins' management, calling them "one of the most arrogant organizations in the league."

    :o

After having read this I understand why carse is arrogant.

When you have 3 teams calling the Penguins dirty (3 teams that hate each other, no less) guess what? You're a dirty team. The league is in bed with crybaby crosby and his daddy crybaby mario. We all know that.
