smozoma
Halak W-L-OTL: 23-10-3 GAA: 2.46 Sv%: .923 Price W-L-OTL: 13-19-4 GAA: 2.82 Sv%: .911 Looks like Price sucks compared to Halak, right? But let's look a bit deeper... Price started 37 games and Halak started 35. In games Halak started, the team's GAA is 2.657. When Price starts, it's 2.838. In games Halak started, the team's GFA is 3.057. When Price starts, it's 2.405. Halak gets 27% more goals for! Number of games montreal scored x goals for each goalie Goals Price Halak Dif 6 1 1 5 3 8 +5 for halak! 4 5 3 -2 3 6 10 +4! 2 12 8 -4 1 6 3 -3 0 4 2 -2 Number of games MTL scored "at most x" goals for each goalie: In 22 of Price's 36 games, they only scored 0-2 goals for him. How can he win? Halak got 0-2 in only 13 games. Goals Price Halak Dif 0 4 2 2 better for halak 1 10 5 5 2 22 13 11!!! 3 28 23 5 4 33 26 7 5 36 34 2 6 37 35 1 Number of games MTL scored "at least x" goals for each goalie: Price got 3+ goals only 14 times. shaftman
Yes. The team just plays better in front of Halak. Which is why Halak is #1 Also if you take a look at price career stats...they just aren't good.
smozoma
oh wait i got something mixed up -- i counted games where a goalie finished the game as though he started it.. recalculating.. fixed.. it didn't change much, only one game was messed up Edited March 22, 2010 by smozoma
The Russian Rocket
How about this: Price let in a incaculable number of ASS goals, backbreakers, that f**k up the temp. Halak is always cheering up his teamates, taking blame for losses, and giving credit to everyone in the wins. Halak is 8-0-0-0 in games where he received 40+ shots. Halak has a superior save% by a big juicy 10-15. 1 Goal and a half on 3 games (considering 33 shots average) DO Make a difference. PRICE HAD ALL THE CHANCES IN THE WORLD TO GET THE JOB, AND FAILED MISERABLY.
smozoma
Yes. The team just plays better in front of Halak. Which is why Halak is #1Also if you take a look at price career stats...they just aren't good. OK, I compared the teams they played against and subtracted out the points and GPs the opponent got from the games vs montreal... Games played against teams with x Pts/GP (after removing the games vs MTL) Opp Pts/GP Price Halak 1.300+ 7 0 4xWSH, CHI, SJ, PHO 1.100-1.299 12 13 1.000-1.099 10 10 0.000-0.999 8 12 West 12 6 East 25 29 Why does Price have to play the best 4 teams 7 times and halak none? Why does Halak get to play the bad teams 50% more times, 12 vs 8? Why does Price have to play the West coast teams 100% more, 12 vs 6? They're better Price is getting screwed statistically. (I don't watch the games to see who plays better, but the team is not helping Price out) Edited March 22, 2010 by smozoma
The Russian Rocket
Stupid and stubborn management. All i can say. That or just they're treating each game equal. (Meaning it's pretty much random and they don't pay attention to who they will be facing)
smozoma
Stats vs Teams with Pts/GP from 1.300+ (the elite teams) Price GAA: 3.29 sv%: 0.902 Halak GAA: ---- sv%: ----- never played them! Stats vs Teams with Pts/GP from 1.00-1.299 (the average-good teams) Price GAA: 2.77 sv%: 0.914 Halak GAA: 2.91 sv%: 0.906 Stats vs Teams with Pts/GP 1.00 or under (the bad teams) Price GAA: 2.63 sv%: 0.916 Halak GAA: 2.17 sv%: 0.937 So Halak is great against bad teams.. smozoma
Halak is 8-0-0-0 in games where he received 40+ shots. Price is 2-4, with games against, Nashville Toronto Washington Boston Pittsburgh San Jose Halak is 7-0 with games against Atlanta Toronto Vancouver Boston Carolina Ottawa NY Islanders Halak's done better there, but against teams that aren't as good maybe i'm missing the 8th game due to some game they split.. Zalex
OMG TOO MANY NUMBERS FOR MY RETARDED BRAIN. MY HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXLPODE. And yes, we can blame Price for the fugly goals he lets in. Numbers dont say everything. The quantity of bad goals he lets in that blow up a lead isnt in your stats. smozoma
I don't watch their games, so I have no clue about bad goals and so on, and I don't care who's better... but if they're riding Halak from here on out, it will be interesting to see how he fares if he actually has to play some tough teams. And if they end up against WSH in the first round, who will have the advantage? Will it be MTL because WSH doesn't know Halak's weaknesses.. or will it be WSH because Halak doesn't know WSH's players' tendencies (hopefully he learned something from the bench)? shaftman
In the end all that matters is Halak gives the team confidence and because of it the habs are on a roll. Price...IMO....has been ruined by our shitty managment and will flourish some where else.
