BLITZ LEAGUE STARTED

Ok guys,

Just went through the long political, and very tedious process of removing my firewall so I can use AIM and netplay! The major internet provider here in Dubai (Etisalat) has extremely restrictive rules for even residential connections. They've gone so far as to block skype activity. You should have seen the look on their face when I told them what I was trying to do B)

I'm a newbee to this league, but a veteran to 94. Due to the time difference and my inability to stay logged on 24/7. can people email me at newcomb.matt@gmail.com to arrange some game times, or post on here. I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but am I missing the main method of scheduling games by writing this??

Look forward to hearing back soon,

Matt

Yeah, this is going to cause problems. Try posting some availability times, so guys can have an idea of when they can catch you on AIM. I'm also concerned that the ping is going to make the games really laggy.

Being realistic, I think guys will avoid emailing to set up times, and it's going to be really hard for you to make checkpoints/deadlines. What times do you think you can be online at, in Eastern Ontario/USA time?

you know you're right about the ping, I just played a game and it was a little lagging. I'm 8 hours ahead of Eastern Time Zone US. I'm ok with any games at 8am and after my time (12 midnight EST) or until 12 midnight (4pm EST)..

Do you think this is going to be too much of a problem? I hate to forfeit my spot and cause any complications in the league as this being my first time. Still wanting to at least try and play another game.....

Hi Matt,

Please try to meet the checkpoints in the deadline thread here. I hope you're able to make it work, but it could be tough. I'd say 67% of games are played between 7-12 PM EST.

Start adding people on AIM (use their name in the standings) and trying to catch them. Your best bet is to catch guys after midnight EST. On weekends you might be able to catch some guys before 4pm (so in the evening on your friday and sunday).

Here is a breakdown of the current times games have been played at:

1pm: 2

..

6pm: 1

7pm: 1

8pm: 3

9pm: 6

10pm: 7

11pm: 3

12am: 3

1am: 2

2am: 2
