  1. Hey all. I have finished my music patch and created an accompanying Excel Music Table Generator that will expedite the process for anyone looking to plug the songs into a ROM. I don't know if any of this is useful to anyone except me, but please feel free to use it if you want a more modern sound in your game. The music catalog has mostly stadium jams and a few pep/marching band songs just to accommodate my NCAA project, but also a feel references either to the original NHL 94, other video games (New Vegas and Undertale fans may find a surprise inside), and TV shows in NHL markets. The patch is compatible with any ROM and only updates the music notes, not the table because the location changes in different ROM sizes. There are 66 total songs added in, and only a few from the original game remain as the "tone" didn't match on many of the longer/more advanced songs. The Excel Spreadsheet has an input page you'll type songs in on, and then an output page that will spit out the hex combination for you to paste over your table. I recommend not leaving any song slots as "Random" if you're doing retro ROMs because I don't know how to control what that pool pulls from, and Kanye West or Metallica might throw off any 70s vibe you're going for. I don't plan on updating this any soon because it was a slog, but if there are bugs please let me know. Download here. v1.1 Updates I tried to live with it, but The Sopranos Theme midi was so bad. It's been replaced with some ABBA, and the spreadsheet had a new offset added for no music per discussion on Discord. Sean's NHL 94 Music Patch v1.1 Update.zip

  2. @von Ozbourne It was exactly what @Jkline3 said. @Jkline3 Have I told you today that you're beautiful? To the community at large, I was thinking of starting a new post, clarifying some of this stuff, and offering a how-too on the Rink & Sideboards. I don't like the idea of starting redundant threads, but I do think it would be useful to consolidate and expand on what we know about this stuff. Well, useful for me, so I don't forget!

  3. You have not. I learned that one the hard way when I was simplifying the rink layout to try and free up some tiles for other uses. I say absolutely... When I saw your post last night I had to go digging through my '94 notebook and sort through a bunch of scribbles to find that tile layout structure. Especially considering some of the new stuff that's come to light recently I think maybe some of these could use a refresher.

  4. On an unrelated note, doing the lines for the Rangers last night was gut-wrenching. It was way too easy, the new lines snapped together in obvious ways, and left a disgustingly good lineup on paper. Wherever the @Sauce is right now, I hope he's feeling good!

  5. Take your time adam. On another note, I just noticed the genesis wide mode patch for the NHL games. You know what I'm gonna ask It would be sweeter than sweet.

  6. Are any of your tiles 8xxx? That makes the tile layer over the player sprites. Common in that part of the rink so that the players are behind the boards.

  7. This has been completely insane. I’m seriously losing my mind trying to keep up, and refactor teams lines!

  8. So, it's legitimately damn near a masterpiece. But,,, Brett Hull being left off the EXPANSION TEAM, left me bereft. And, Anaheim player names need some work. Anyway, just a couple tiny dents on a very sexy car. Grade-A work. Thank you.
