  1. How do you adjust CPU speed?

The CPU speed on my laptop can be controlled to improve battery life, performance, and on-demand load. This is done through software that came installed (its an Asus EEE Pc with an Intel Atom CPU). Most CPUs have a fixed clock speed, but some can be controlled via software and changed on the fly.

Apparently, ZSNES does not like this. So I set the condition to max performance (max CPU clock speed).

  2. Well, I may exagerate a bit at times, but somehow I feel like the connection between players has been a bit on the frizz. Rage and I tried our series, but the slowdown dragged the game's momentium down, so it does get uncomfortable.

One day it's good and fine, the other it goes down to pot. I should probably apologize if I did cause some awkwardness and trouble with this.

I found out slowdown was not due to the network connection, buy my laptop's CPU speed control. It was set to adjust the CPU speed for demand. I read on the ZSNES forums that this causes problems with the timing in the program. All other emulators ran fine (including Snes9x). Set the CPU speed to constant and that fixed the problem.

RedWing and I played a game with the slowdown and it felt like it took an hour.

  3. Phaneuf never really lived up to his hype in Calgary anyway. His salary was gigantic and was signed I think until 2013. His defensive play has been on the decline. Good move by the flames for getting rid of him. They got some good young players and some goal scorers out of the deal.

The Flames defense has never really been their problem, they just can't score. Hopefully these new guys help bolster the Flames and add some depth, which is what really killed them last year in the playoffs with all the injuries.

  4. Idea 3 sounds good to me.

Just for the hell of it, why not make the beginning of the first round open selection and the end of the first round protection? The mid-level and lower level players can pick any player in the first half of the round, and the better teams (like the ones that are the top 4 or 5 playoff seeds in both leagues) would choose a protection pick in the second half of the first round. This way the lower level coaches have a pick at the best guys and the higher level coaches can still protect a player. Then maybe flip-flop the second round where the lower level coaches pick protection in the beginning and the higher level coaches have an open pick at the end.

    Make any sense? Probably not.

  5. I've had problems in connecting and making games on the ZNES lately. It either freezes and stops the emulator from running or the other guy doesn't have the rom in his remote location and thus the game doesn't load. This has really popped out too often for my liking, so I need some solutions.

Before you start, make sure the other player has the same ROM as you. Most people will keep the ROM in its zip file, while others will unzip it and have the SMC file. I believe the reason why the game freezes is when 2 guys try to load a ROM at the same time. I think the person hosting should load the ROM and make sure you let the other guy know that you are loading the ROM so this doesn't happen.

If they don't have the same version of the ROM you have, you can always send it to them though AIM.

  6. The brackets are up on the site. Round 1 checkpoint is Thurs., Dec. 24. Please get your games in before then!!!

Let me know if there are any problems with the site.

I will update the games that have been played already a little later tonight, unless the teams that played the games want to do it themselves.

Logging is done the same way as the regular season. The rest of the games will open up when needed (i.e. Game 1 is won by home, Game 2 won by Away. Game 5 will open up to be logged.)

  7. I believe Calgary is logged and the book on them is now closed.

Sorry Xot82, BobKudelski absolutely dominated with superb skating and puck control.

    ...and attack zone...

    ...and shooting percentage...

    ...and defense...

    ...and passing...

...and what else does this game take stats of?

He probably had more cowbell too.

Thanks for playing me Bob... it was fun and I picked up a few ways to score (I think)... just have no idea how to stop those same ways back. :(

Thanks for filling in and putting this scenario in the books. Bob pulled off an impressive run in his last half of the season to take the division crown.

  8. How is the Tuck Rule not on one of the top spots?? That call was one of the most infamous flops in sports history; the referee practially gave the game as a gift and the rest is history.

I was thinking the same thing. It's not even mentioned on the bottom either

  9. As the season winds down in GENS-C, playoff spots are not set in place. But, Evan comes out of retirement to help fix it!!! What will he do? Is he rusty? Easy wins for Chaos?

The fight begins tonight, on the eve of the season. Who will win?

Go Evan!!! Shake off your rust and show us some fight!!

Watch out for my crazy swinging hook!

  10. I'm f'd though. I don't think the Calgary coach will play his 3 games against Detroit. Which means Detroit get three free FF wins and end season with one more point than me and get the last playoff spot :(

We will look at the situation after the deadline if Calgary doesn't get their games in and try to make a fair decision.

Guess it's better to not finish all games in time. Will remember that next season.

What do you mean by this? The deadlines are in place and that is when the games are due. It is encouraged to finish your games before the deadlines, but the deadlines are also that - a deadline.

Congrats on finishing your games early. It shows that you are dedicated.

  11. I think refs in all sports are making dumber calls.

Look at the Yankees-Angels series and the World Series. How many dumb calls in that?

Football too. I think in football they are not being as careful do to replays, but they aren't supposed to rely on a machine to do their job.

That goal was so obvious. What an idiot.
