  1. I believe you have a much more interesting draft if you have only 20 coaches participate. If you have more than 20 coaches interested, open up a 2nd GDL league to take on those interested, much like the Gens has A,B,C,D.
  2. Downsizing the league to 20: absolutely. Lower rounds in the draft are much more exciting, and teams have more depth. Games released in pairs: A step forward in reducing the amount of DNPs A 2 week downtime for the league: sounds great A penalty for carse: how about an automatic ejection for him and anyone else with a history of flakey-ness..... with only 20 spots, there will be a waiting list of people hankering for spots (hopefully). but let him play and.... I've had experiences where p2p has been worse than client... so make it optional but recommended I do recommend however that conferences are split geographically, so that west coasters play the most games against west coasters line changes - i wouldn't be interested in playing in a league with this
  3. All 3 are very fine players.... each has their own strengths... but over 100 games, I don't think any of the 3 would be the victor in a significant way. I also think that the gap between these guys and some of the other better GENS players (skool, Carse, other guys who are pissed I didn't mention them) isn't very large. This community has been building up excellent depth when it comes to the quality of player.
  4. a. why are you drunk and agitated so early in the morning? b. a little bit of logic behind your suggestions: people still will have DNPs regardless we feel, and stat races, a huge part of the league, become void
  5. hmm.. yes. Now that I pose this much too obvious solution, how many west coasters do we have, and who do you put in to fill the remainder? there are only 2 reasons behind this idea: 1. time zones 2. lag
  6. recall reason why games are release periodically: to keep stat races interesting What holds more sway with the masses? having the ability to play all games at once (hokkee will be done with 2 months remaining), or having AJ duke it out with some schmo for the Rocket Richard Trophy? my gut tells me releasing games all at once will eliminate some of the DNPs... but not all. p.s. Align conferences by geographic location next year, damnit.
  7. what are you a spam bot? but seriously, congrats on playing all of your games.
  8. I dunno man... I don't see anyone here claiming to be the best. This dude might be legit.
  9. I'll be around tonight Scribe... just like every weeknight. --> Extensions only allow leniency towards the problem. The cut off date has been set, to move it shows WEAKNESS!!!!!! p.s. Man I want to accuse people of not being online, but that doesn't really solve much. If you missed some games... you take part of the blame.
  10. well... I won't be able to play any more games unless I get some in Sunday night (25% chance of availability)... 2 games vs Donch - surprising we didn't get them in... probably a combo of both our faults 2 games vs kgman - tried to get these games in for the longest time... last night he said his cpu wouldn't let him play, then I think he blocked since I could see him on my secondary AIM but not my primary 1 game vs. scribe99 - never see him 1 game vs. takeyourpill - we have tried to get this game in before.... but since typically I get messages from him several hours after I'm asleep for a game.
  11. you were online for 5 minutes earlier tonight.... but no longer. tonight is my last night to get our game in, hopefully you'll be online again.
  12. I'm actually at grad class right now (I'm such a good student), but the prof apparently got in an accident and class is cancelled, so I'll be home tonight to play as many games as possible.
  13. I won't argue with you there. I never initiated any arguments about availability, I'm only trying to defend reliable gamers with legitamit reasons. My schedule has been pretty consistent throughout my time palying, but I can see my # of games played is lagging behind others right now, and the reason is apparent to me. When I'm available (a few hours during the evening almost every day), I try to get games in. when I message guys, they are either at work, busy with something, or not online at all (most common). The problem is lately though when I go to bed, I wake up with 1-2 windows asking for games played. If those games don't get played by the end of this week, I'll make a note to tell Donch who has been trying to contact me (you have been one of them Sebe). I have no problem taking the DNPs because my availability this weekend is zero. I do applaud Donch's zero tolerance stand though, it is definately a plus for this league.
  14. Do your homework; I've been one of the most reliable members since the 1st nhl94 league on Evan's site. Seeing as how because my schedule doesn't match up well with West Coasters... as well as East Coast / West Coast lag being somewhat of an issue, perhaps future divisional breakdowns should be based on geographic location. p.s. Hokkee -- not yet time for you to be talking.
  15. you may misinterpret: a. Full time job, waking up at 6am b. Part time job c. Grad School d. Sports Leagues e. Social Life I am not going to skip class or decline the option to go to dinner because I am scheduled to play 10 minutes of a videogame. I hope you don't disagree with this logic, and if you do, I'd love to hear you voice your opinion articulately without your charming vernacular. I feel I have been a very reliable coach since I've been playing despite my schedule. It looks like a lot of my DNPs are going to be West Coasters I can't seem to find when I'm on. What is the solution to this?
  16. i feel i'm pretty available... but the problem is getting online at the same time as other guys are. It is unreasonable to expect people to set a schedule to play a 15 minute videogame when they have a life outside of it... so basically it comes down to chance of 2 guys being online at the same time.
  17. The last two weeks have been an unfruitful game of IM tag as I am not available when people try to reach me, and people are busy when I try to get a game in with them. I'll be active in trying to games played, however I am going to Washington D.C. Friday until Sunday, so Donche can take that into consideration if I have any DNPs at the end of the season.
  18. I don't believe you. YouTube it, or else face the oppression of all us Rick Nash lovers.
  19. Ok. Beat me. Series of 100. You win 1 game, you go on to play EA. <--- I am EA's muscle.
  20. I am happy to see Mr. Hawerchuk is doing so well after being defamed by much of the public. Despite this, I don't buy much into "player stats." These stats essentially tell you nothing about a player; their stats rely solely on the owner's ability to produce. Your offensive abilities AJ can make my Ulf Samuelsson a huge goal scorer.
  21. SSIG - practice on your weaknesses while you are away. Being good at this game isn't a natural talent, it is a skill you can build up.
  22. For devil's advocate sake: international ice: I'm not sure how your argument of bigger ice = more clogging works. You have the same number of players, you just move the boards out. Yes, players will be further way when they are on the boards... yet they don't typically try to score goals from this area; they try to set up plays in the lane or at the net. With more room on the boards, they will now have more time to find scoring opportunities. Also, it will be easier to enter the offensive zone with a wider blue line to cross. Instead of looking at stats which take a number of variables into play, look at olympic hockey which features a prominent portion of NHL players. It was much faster; more wide open; less of the clutching and grabbing and neutral zone trapping. reducing size of league: the quality of offense increases; so does the quality of defense. 3 reasons why scoring is reduced: 1. goalie equipment is large 2. players are larger, faster, stronger and as a result this makes the ice seem "smaller" comparatively 3. emerging strategy (i.e. neutral zone trap); hockey has always been evolving, take a look at the rule book as far as 50 years ago. It isn't some blessed pure sport that shouldn't be messed with. Take a read of Ken Dryden's "The Game" and then ask yourself "is dump and chase" really what hockey should be?
