  1. You are the MVP of this community.

High praise there. Guys like Wboy and Evan deserve that title along with the '94 life time achievement award.

Server is emulinker enabled. Only games that start with the "NHL" are playable.

Draft league players I wasn't aware of thr GDL rom name. It'll be fixed when I have time along with any other issues.

  2. Should be soon hokkee.

There were no issues when I tested the server with disconnects. If encountered any probs testing I would not have gone here and posted the ip yet..I should have taken the time to install Emulinker, without Emulinker various probs that can arrise in addition to having none of the basic admin controlls that we are all so used to in a Kaillera server (disconnect notfication, etc).

Should have this fixed by tomorrow night or day after.

  3. How did you delete the expansion teams?? I cant do that in NOSE. Thanks.

It's not possible to delete them. They are removed from the menu so they are not playable / visible but there are still 30 teams.

hey clockwise, how can i get a copy of the updated 91 rom...on your site its the same as before with no tape on the sticks...or will it be up when everything is done

    thanks

The stick tape / player sprite edit and backup player cards are completed. As mentioned before I'm going to add swos's bench area and a few other things then I'll be done and put it on the site. However I put the tape edit in Macks 07 playoff rom that he's going release shortly so you'll be able to see wha it looks like in action.

  4. Your #1 destination for NHL '94 Kaillera netplay. Should eliminate the need to oscillate between servers, and give a place for new players who haven't populated their '94 player list to congregate.

    New Location: 72.37.227.116

    max users: 30

    max ping: 100

I suggest pinging the master server list and adding it to your local list so you don't have to enter the ip manually every time.

    Enjoy.

  5. Another addition: Stick tape has been added (both white and black versions) by modifying the affected tiles using the boot / glove color for the stick, and the skate color for the white tape version, which is more compatible with the smaller pucks. I also changed the eyes of the player sprites to use the boot color so visiting teams like Detroit don't look baked using the jersey color for the eyes anymore..

It's an arduous process locating every tile and configuring them but it's a nice visual enhancement and adds another dimenson of detail to the sprites. Pics attached

There's also a way to add this edit to any other rom since I've done the tile editing, all someone would have to do is paste the entire sprite image. I'll do a tutorial on it in the near future.

The website you gave in the first post in this thread with all of the team's jerseys is very cool. I did notice though that in St. Louis' home jersey you had a white stripe on the sleeve bordered by a yellow stripe. The middle stripe should really be blue. No biggie, these games have never been able to really give a good Blues jersey it seems. In the original rom it is basically Edmonton's jersey. Might I suggest this site I just ran across though: http://www.sportslogos.net/annuals.php?sea...1&Submit=Go . Again, coming from a Blues fan, people tend to use the current Blues logo when they list the logos for NHL 94. or in this case 91/92. It's even on the banner on this site's main page. That sports logos site has the actual Blues logo from these years, with the red trim, "St. Louis" in the note and smoother edges on the wing (I know yours are smooth, this site's banner is not). One last Blues criticsm and I swear I'm done, Hull had 86 goals that year, not 87.

    Re Stl jerseys:

Many of the team uniforms can't be represented accurately (yet) ie: Chicago doesn't have black shoulders, they have a black helmet for the away uniform..But this isn't possible due to the jersey sharing the lid color..So EA compensated by making the shoulders black..I could add a blue band to the sleeve for STL using swos's strip hack but that would remove the skates.

Re logo: I used sportslogos.net for everyone of the team logos except for STL. The team pallet is shared with the jerseys, so if I add the red trim to the logo it has to be added to the uni as well (which is pointless seeing how small the band around the jersey was). The lettering for the note won't even be legible and takes away from the logo so I took it off. Same principle applys to the NY Isles uniform.

And yes I know Hull scored 86 not 87. He also scored those 86 in 90-91 which is the season the game is based on, not 91-92.

I just noticed Winnipeg is not playable for Playoffs mode.

They didn't make the playoffs that year.

  6. I'll help you, so long as your willing to learn. Otherwise if you want some one to do it for you (me for instance) I accept all major credit cards and COD.

Seriously though, having someone else do the majority of the work for you, then having them in the credits so to speak is a small consolation booby prize.

As for what you want to do without going into much detail:

Changing the playoff / in game banners only requires a little dissection of the banner text in a graphic editor as it's one image.

The menu banners are not as imposing with only two colors to change for each twice(home / away left, home / away right).

You can import your logos easily by using NOSE's color sniper to locate the optimized BGR values you wish to use.

Having the teams use all the same ice logos would mean having all of the ice logos share the same palette by creating a new one as the home jersey colors share the ice logo.

You can get more aquatinted with TM by watching a few of slapshot67's help vids.. or by looking at some of the great tuts Evan's done for using TLP.

Finally head over to hexaddicts.com and dl wboy's TM reference screens.

Try not to get overwhelmed by looking at the whole thing. Just focus on one part of the project (banners etc.) until you start to figure it out.

  7. I noticed that sometimes when you are playing a game, the team you are using will also show up in the score ticker as playing another team. Not a big deal to me, but thought you might want to know.

Yup. Even though the number of selectable teams in the menu is 23 there are still 30 teams..A few of the clubs have been repeated in the back of the rom that aren't selectable for when the "other scores" appear. This way their isin't a blank space there..So don't be shocked if you see a the Sabres facing it's doppelganger.

Hey, there was one thing i caught concerning some players and their weight. It looks like that a few players weigh 140 lbs. when they should weigh something else, this is pretty important because of weight bug, so here is what i found.

Must have glossed over these. Thanks for pointing 'em out they're fixed now..

  8. That did it. Thanks clockwise.

Does anyone know how the game determines which six player cards to display/rotate on the main menu? I would like it to be the top line for each team but can only get a *seemingly* random assortment.

Download wboy's player card tutorial from his site to help you get started..If you still need help come back and I'll explain the method I use to do them.

  9. Most of those mistakes were likely made during hour(s) long sessions in my genuine imitation leather chair where time bends, minutes become hours, and sprites become animate.

No excuses. I've fixed them all. Thanks for pointing them out to me, saves the time of having to search for them myself.

I realize you rated players (and, by extension, teams) based on how they performed that year, but come on...Quebec, a 44? You could've made them a *little* more competitive, eh?

Player ratings are independent of team ratings..The Dekes had the lowest point total with 46, the 2nd lowest was Toronto with 57. Thats why they were awarded the lowest overall team rating.

Looked at sportslogos.net and your correct about the Boston logo..I changed it to the '90-'91 one.

Player card pics for all 450 + players are complete along with a few uniform tweaks.

  10. Thanks for the help fellows.

I have finished all of the rink logos. Does anyone have suggestion for changing the overall ratings of each team? Most of the info I can find is 26 team '94 based, is the 30 team ROM (which I am now using) any different? Some of my teams are showing odd ratings such as "; 7"

    Hex offset: 0x001DCA24

Here's a pic in case you have trouble finding it.

    post-194-1177390402_thumb.jpg

  11. Sean Burke's name is misspelled as Shean Burke and Peter Sidorkiewicz is spelled Skidorkiewicz.

Good eye. It'll be corrected for the final release.

Another mistake (maybe it was intentional) is that the playoff matchups are not proper. In 1991, you would have a Divisional Semifinal, Division Final, and Conference Final so there would never be a matchup between Hartford and Pittsburgh or Philadelphia and Buffalo in the first or second round. Either way, it's still a sweet rom.

Actually I tried to set the playoffs so you could only play with the first round matchups from '91. I wasn't able to accomplish this without having the menu lockup.

  12. PS. Clockwise, no probs with using swos's recent NHL07 rom as it too is now based on the 30 team rom template.

My bad I wasn't aware of that.

    Spike,

Don't forget to set the team pallet size to 480 or you won't be able to cycle home / away.

I was messing around with this and I am wondering how come I cant enter letters into the offset when I try to import the palette. It will only let me type numbers.

Tile molester doesn't support the loading of pallets in hex only decimal.

To get the decimal pallet for a team(s) in NOSE go to options> offset> decimal. Or CTRL + D.

  13. I agree with you 100% on that analogy, but that problem is having Hull be the JR that is in the original ROM. Ive heard countless stories that you arent allowed to use Chicago because JR is so dominant and he only has a 5/5 shot in the game.

You keep it a 6/6, it just isnt gonna be fair for anyone to use StL because all they will have to do is feed Hull the puck and slap it from anywhere inside the blueline.

If you plan on taking this ROM to an online league, it will be the same case its been in Evan's league about a player being too dominant.

It's something I will definitely consider when I'm finished doing all the player cards for the backups.

  14. First of all I want to thank wboy and all the others for their great tutorials and references. Without those I wouldn't have made it this far. Currently I am working on a ROM for my fantasy league, but that is basically a tune-up so I can better know what I am doing when I start work on my first real project- either a WHA or 80's NHL ROM.

My problem is that my rink logos don't match the palette I am using. I imported the team home strip palette from NOSE, but the center ice logo still looks funky, using colors not even found in the palette. Any help is appreciated, I have attached screenshots below.

    Thanks

    screen1.jpg

    screen2.jpg

Have you imported a png image (or otherwise) over the logo or is that an existing logo in your TM photo?

Judging from the pic of the rink you posted it appears that your using swos's rom for your edit?

I'm not sure how far you are along with your project but it's advisable to use wboy's 30 team rom template with the graphics decompressed.

I used it for my NHL '91 edit and it makes editing logos player cards intro screens etc a breeze.

  15. One thing I do have to say...

After playing with StL, you have to tone down Hulls Shot Accuracy. A 6/6 shot!!! Rediculous

My advice would be make it a 6/4 or something, just slightly better then it is in the original ROM.

While Brett might not have been the most fleet of foot he's possibly the most pure sniper to ever play the game.

He tallied 87 goals that year, 72 goals the year before and 70 prior. Looking at hockeydb.com he's 3rd all time in goals with 741 over Esposito (5th), Yzerman (8th), and Lemieux ( 9th) etc. And if I remember correctly in an interview during Gretzky's short time in St Louis he said Hull had a better shot than himself but Brett couldn't pass as well.

With the rating system I used the only three players deserving of a 99 shot accuracy were Hull, Lemiuex, and Gretzky.
