  1. Good call Jeff. Smozoma Kim-uh.
  2. smozoma Posted May 17 2006, 05:53 PM Do you think this proposal is what made EA put '94 on the PS2 version of NHL06? If so.. we do have some sway with them! Good work Evan.. Well, was it? Have we all given up on this then? Lets try again. First of all boycott all their new crappy games. And just keep bugging them. Flood them with emails, death letters if necessary! And by the way, the addition of NHL 94 to nhl 06 is hardly a success. It was the bloody genesis version 94
  3. What a crock! First of all most of these so called points of yours are MINOR ideas and have not much to do with what makes this game great, the play control. Long live SNES... #1. Genesis version has harder hits: the hits in the Snes version appear "nurfed", for instance: when a player gets decked and injured in the snes version he just sort of lays down as if he was in a lazy boy recliner. 1 point for Genesis Harder hits? Have you not nailed a guy so hard that you go flying back halfway across the ice? That kicks sooo much ass. Try pressing the 'Y' button after. That is so hilarious. #2. Genesis version has a siren to signify a goal: How was this left out? Someone really dropped the ball for the Snes version. 1 point for Genesis. What are you talking about? Turn on the sound and listen for yourself. Also look behind the net when you score. That red thing spinning around is called a GOAL LIGHT. #3. Snes has better hat trick animation: when the hats fly on the ice it looks way better on the Snes version. 1 point for Snes. Whatever. #4. Genesis has better intro music: Best song ever, I want to be buried to this tune. The Snes intro music is cheesy, plus you have to wait for the puck animation before you can start the game. 1 point for Genesis. Also whatever. Personally I never have the sound on. I just listen to some Coverdale/Page or other kick ass music. But there are some who care, but again, whatever. #5. Genesis has reverse replays: It's cool to check out a sweet goal from an opposite angle. Considering the Snes version was released after the Genesis version, there is no excuse why the Snes version doesn't have it. 1 point for Genesis Gotta give you this one, kick ass. #6. Genesis has highlights from other games: kick ass feature, I love watching these. Even though it's a novelty thing, it still rules. 1 point for Genesis. So does SNES. Are you ok? #7. Snes players have blades on their skates: Genesis skaters float on magical booties. Genesis crew had 3 tries and still didn't add blades to skates on Genesis untill 95. 1 point for Snes. More nitpicking. Give me better play control anyday. #8. Snes has better arena SFX: When the puck caroms off the glass and stuff like that it sounds better on Snes. 1 point for Snes. Again minor. If we'd all cared about graphics and sound so much we'd be playing the newer s**t games. #9. Snes players have tape on their sticks: 1 point for Snes. You can SEE that? #10. Genesis rinks have better center ice logos: Snes ones look like they were made with a Fisher Price "My First Airbrush kit". 1 point for Genesis See #8 #11 I'll get back to this one. #12. Genesis players have faces: Snes players have no emotion cause they have no f**king faces.. stupid. 1 point for Genesis. Again with the graphics! #13. Snes has better ice color: 1 point for Snes. What can I say? Its very minor, I don't know whay they both weren't just white. #14. Snes version hase better bench graphics: Nice touch, still they could have added a goal judge to light the lamp. 1 point for Snes. Enough with the graphics already!! #15. Genesis goalies skate: On Snes they hover around the ice. 1 point for Genesis. Uh, ok? I love the goalie contol on the SNES. Without it I wonder just how long this game would have lasted. As for hovering around the ice, I thought it was the Genesis version that didn't have skates! But at least this is a concern of some substance. And finally... #11. Geneis version has better game play: Mostly due to the better frame rate. This is what makes or breaks any game. it's the most important part of the experiment which is why the winner of this issue is awared 2 points. 2 points for Genesis. Quite simply, I dispute this. I diagree, I just can't believe it. Not you, I believe that you really believe in your game, but about the two games playability. Are we all so brainwashed into our inherent systems that we cannot see otherwise? I used to think this. But not now. I've given the Genesis version many tries over the years. Its not the same at all. It just feels wrong. I can't make any plays I want to make, the passing is unreliable, the control seems jittery, the whole feel is just wrong. Alot of you guys out there may simply prefer the feel of the Genesis, but for me, its play control is very limiting. Why is this? Its simply a different game. I'd be willing to let it fall into second best territory, but who wants to play the second best game in the world when everything you could want in a game(control-wise obviously) is here in the SNES. They are two very different games and always will be. I could play for the rest of my life and never get the same type of goals from the Genesis as I can from the SNES. Just look at these plays again if you have to: http://youtube.com/watch?v=w3YVF4KxBXQ&search=nhl%2094 (shameless plug). Prove me wrong! Genesis guys start recording your goals. I want results. NHL 94 highlight menagerie extravaganza and NHL94 highlights 2003 Olliz remix (NHL 94), I'm sorry, it just didn't do it for me. Not to be mean, or to show off for that matter. It is simply not NHL94 to me. OK for what they are, but no 94. So clockwise, your ultimate test, is for me, flawed. I don't look at it the same way you do. As for your "high profile study", it seems it was as well executed as the Bush Administration's investigation into the supposed 9/11 muslim attacks. 94!
  4. Yes, this is the very cheap move I'm referring to. James-uh Kim-uh!
  5. Cam Kneely. Are you in Boston or Vancouver? Will this net block the view of the bottom half of the screen like it does in real life? Should I just call you Sea Bass? By the way, who here is member No. 94? 94
  6. Who here thinks wrap arounds are a good way to score here? I sure don't. That is basically the major flaw of NHL94(Peace be upon him). Whoever does this either doesn't know any better or just plain sucks. Back in highschool we had a friend named James Kim. This was his way to score. He wasn't very good at this. This move will, for ever-after, be referred to as a James-uh Kim-uh. As it has been for over ten years by Jeff and myself. This game should be about skill. Not Cheapness. The next thing people will say is Martin Gelinas' attempt off his foot into Tampa Bay's net in the finals should have won Calgary the cup. See the lesson of History: Joel Otto, first round 1989 playoffs. Calgary Vs. Vancouver. Don't be cheap guys. 94
  7. Thanks Evan. You know what I'm talking about. Way to be on the radio too eh?! Except for one thing NHL94 Super NES kicks Genesis ass! By the waycamkneely, not to knock your idea but I can't stand the nets behind the glass. We should just superimpose helmets on all the kids heads, like they ought to do in real life. Is it possible to create an emulator that has one team from genesis and one from SNES? Let the showdown begin... 94
  8. I kind of wanted a complete list of POSSIBLE changes for the emulator. Is this not the place for it or does no-one really care? 9-4
  9. I still don't understand what peoples fascination with the genesis version is. Its too quick, like NHL 95 (BLEECH!) Where is the control? Its very jittery like NHLPA 93. If you have any doubts just check out these passing plays: (same as before)Then tell me you can play with such precision on the genesis. 94
  10. Oi!! The V kicks ass. If anyone has anything to say about it, then I'll simply have to sit here and disagree. Want an ugly jersey, the Canucks current Whalers jersey is shameful. Bloody Orca Bay... And Good call Jeff94rules1. Nice passes on the video! 94!
  11. Oi! Don't be messin with Kudelski! 94
  12. Lets see some other people put their goals online! There must be thousands of kick ass plays out there. (We've been playing this game for 12 years+ for gods sake!) 94!!!!
  13. NHL 95 is the worst. What a dissapointment. Just like the Canucks '95 playoffs. Stupid lockout.... I would have to say it is the biggest let down I've ever had in a game, including when Mario Bros. turned to a 3D style of play. Why do they put graphics ahead of play control these days? Keep it simple. I'll never forget the day Jeff first rented 95, didn't tell me till way later in the day and simply shook his head, its no 94. Damn you EA Sports for destroying what could have been an even better game. But alas, '94 just has that ring to it. 94!
  14. Has this been done before? Lets create a list here of every possible change you can make to our favorite game on the emulator. I've noticed player changes, uniform changes, crease sizes etc. But just how far can you go with this? 94!!!!
  15. I guess one of the reasons for using one line was the eventual depletion of the 1994 Vancouver Canucks. As they all got traded away there were less and less current players to use. But now as the game has achieved cult status it doensn't matter. Man that kicked ass when Linden came back though! 94.
  16. I guess everyone has. But that still doesn't answer my question.
  17. I don't like the line changes. Everyone gets too slow and tired. If it were up to me I be stuck on one player the whole game. I can't wait to get the modulator going. Maybe I'll make the games two on five... 1994!
  18. I don't see a link on the main page to these highlight goals: Is it there or am I missing it? You guys should all check it out. Ninety Four.
  19. What forum are you referring to? Its cool that someone else cares as much about passing as we do. Kick Ass.
  20. What is the longest anyone has gone in the playoffs without using a goalie? Jeff and I used to try alot a few years back to use Ottawa(presumably the worst team) to win the cup in four games without a goalie. First with five minutes, then ten and eventually 20 mins. Without cheating of course, and once you loose a game you have to start in the first round again. And no pausing the game repeatedly to slow down the puck! I think we won it all on two occasions. It's very frustrating playing ultimate defense all the time and then finally getting the puck only to be very slow and have little passing ability. But its good times when Kudelski and Baker get the job done in the end.
  21. We've been playing as teammates since the game first came out in 1993. This game just keeps getting better and better all the time. So many great plays, so many memories. 94!!
  22. The song is Kenny Loggins' Nobody's Fool (Theme from Caddyshack II)
  23. Thanks for the comments, glad you like the video, lots more footage to come...
  24. How ya doin'? Wow, what a website. What took so long for someone to make one? Last I checked online was the 10 year anniversary of 94, which was September 4 2003 (Super NES naturally). Since then I'd pretty much given up looking for codes and stuff, then suddenly BAM!!! This shows up. Amazing. I'm the Case that Jeff has been talking about by the way. We've got lots of beautiful goals we're about to post. Hopefully it is everyone else' sambition here to score nice goals here as well. I'm not boasting or anything, its just that this game has such amazing control I'm suprised that more peope don't go on about that. Otherwise you may as well be playing nhl95... As you'll soon be able to see, We're all about the passing and amazing plays. Looking forward to posting those goals, and playing some online 2 on 2 games the way they were meant to be played. Yeah.
