  1. so, this is looking like it's going to get done. forgive my countdown updates, but they help me keep motivated and they are also getting this old profile back to the right post count. anyway...

does anybody want to check the partially done ROM for mistakes like wrong handedness, numbers and misspelled names? it's ANA through WSH right now. hit me if you care enough to try.

  2. I'm almost sorry.

I needed a name to use to play onlag with the cool kids so I formed that one. I've been using a proxy, but I guess I can skip that step now that Honkee has outed me. Kaberle was a Bruin or had just been one and if I remember correctly, my thinking at the time related more to an in-game (hacked) player rating and something like an "I'm so good I make Kaberle into a star -- he's a 93 overall" posture. I think I used the line once and drifted off into a new personality. I even logged my other computer on to argue with myself on the boards to make the character seem real. then it was about logging in everywhere as a character. eventually it became meaningless. it hurts to think about and it feels good to come clean.

    it wasn't worth it.

  3. I go for realism as much as possible. I get fan feedback for every team for player speed and shot power. I use awarenesses to balance out the overall ratings. I now create "overall" ratings like this: start with relative plus/minus per 60 minutes played, add/subtract some quality of linemates/opponents differential points, tweak it again to get some zone loss/advancement factors in and then give those that play 21 minutes per game a bonus of 1, +2 for 22, +3 for 23, etc. now I just need to do the fucking work and get this account back to 1994 posts. I'm not sure it's getting done this season.

  4. the logos are the same ones on the intro pucks, I promise; change them all to one image and it's the same puck over and over in the intro. I typed a bit of an idea of how to do player card picture swapping in the other place you asked about it. the organ tunes I can probably help with... I shall try to look into these things further this weekend. and... will you look at that. retirement has come a-calling.

  5. the player card images are tabled in the mapping thread. if you go to a team's list in the hex code you will see that they have six unique portraits and then they have fifteen or so generic ones that use the same two or three over and over. it's pretty easy to understand. you'll have unique ones for each starter and zero, one or two generic goalie pictures on each team. the rest or the skaters are the same few over and over again. if you are just replacing Moginly with a generic one, it's pretty easy. that explanation and the chart in the mapping thread should get you there. I'd be willing to do this work for you if you are having trouble getting rid of old players for a new ROM.
