  1. Ask about the artificial intelligence. It's more sophisticated then many realize and isn't "flat". Play the exact same game/settings/teams a few times in a row and you'll probably see different results, and different players hot/cold (beyond whats mentioned in pre-game info such as guys coming off the bench to score a few).

The CPU has random intervals of higher and lower resistance to scores goals, makes plays, take shots. Most who've played enough know that in many games against the CPU, you can go minutes without scoring regardless of skill/experience/advantage. Then all of a sudden you can score 4-5 goals in the next minute. This has always intrigued me and would be great to know some of the inner workings of the AI. I think this also makes the game more entertaining because the AI adds that element of unpredictability.

What makes the d men rush up the ice and crush the puck handler. I agree about ai and I have railed about it before. I can score 6 maybe 7 a minute at best, but when the computer refuses to give back the puck I am screwed.

    Is there a hidden stat?

  2. You are welcome, I am glad to explain this.

There are three other MIAA leagues in the nation, all being outside of Massachusetts: There is the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and the Mid~America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, respectively; Michigan's MIAA handles the NCAA's Division III in that area, whereas, Mid~America's handles the NCAA's Division II teams for their region.

Maryland's MIAA is for 029 Baltimore Metro area Senior High Schools, but only uses 028 of them for Ice Hockey.

The Women's incarnation of Maryland's MIAA, the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM, for short), only handles Field Hockey, but still makes use of a Thirty Team Cap; who knows, I might also make IAAM Women's Hockey titles at some point too, it more than likely might be probable. (:

    . (:

Good old MIAA. My high school sports league. Baltimore is a Mecca of women's field hockey. The MIAA came about when the public magnet schools broke away from the private and parochial schools which previously formed the MSA. Almost all the private and some public schools are single sex in these parts this why there are different leagues for boys and girls. The MIAA is only boys sports while the IAAM is girls sports. The MIAA is routinely mentioned as the top lacrosse league in the nation, but hockey... Well in Maryland hockey isn't too popular. My wife did play in the ice hockey IAAM league,

    Go Greyhounds. Beat McDonough.

  3. I think I was the only person using the original 3 button boat at the live tournament. I actual use a USB SNES controller to play. It kinda blows because it has a turbo option that suddenly turns on at times. Huge disadvantage and costs me goals every now and then. It also sometimes scores a goal by accident as I can suddenly do Seth like quick wrist shots. I really can't recommend it at all. If you get the B button on turbo you can't change to goalie. Really terrible. If you get c on turbo, you can do some sweet checks, but you can't slap shoot.

Anyway, maybe one day I'll bring out the ole 3 button, but as it sits I just deal with inconsistency.

  4. Got my games in w/ Beavers & Zep last night.

Zep & I had HORRIBLE, UNPLAYABLE LAG for the second straight time. So, we SWITCHED to server mode, and it worked like a charm. Server removes Hamachi as the connection between you & your opponent, and SOMETIMES, Hamachi is the issue. If you don't have lag with anyone else, your opponent doesn't have lag with others, but you have lag with each other, it's Hamachi.

To use Server, it's the same as playing 2v2. Go inside the Netplay option (requires OLD Kaillera), goto Client mode, click Excellent quality instead of lan, and try to find a site closest to one of the two of you (this is done by clicking on "Master Client List" & then clicking once on PING, and it sorts them by fastest connect for you to slowest. Figure out which city your opponent is playing in as well, and pick a site by you or him.) . You might need to test out a few sites to see which one gives you a strong enough connect, as 5v5 requires much more stronger connect to run in a playable format than 2v2.

Sometimes we forget about this option. Zep is in Baltimore & I'm in Chicago. Game 1 he hosted, and I picked us a New York site, as it was closer to him but I still had a decent PING to it. That went fairly smooth ESPECIALLY compared to the crap we were trying to use!. Game 2, we tried at the site in Chicago and it was fairly laggy again, even though it showed decent PING for us & mine was exceptional (11 PING). We reset and went back to the New York site, which was again smooth.

So, when using SERVER you some times need to test a few sites. We had an agreement to just quit if it was unplayable and start again at a different site.

Ok so I have had this problem now with three people as of late... I can only think to blame my slick new little router box the LRT214 which looked like quality, or at least gigabit and wired since I have two ceiling WAPs...

Anyway, ever since I put that thing in, I have had this problem creep up. It is basically like full on lag mode. It happened against Brutus, SOH, and Beavers. SOH and Beavers used the OLD KAILERRA with P2P and lag disappeared. I turned off the firewall mode. Didn't help.

It is only against certain people. If anyone has an idea on how this problem could propulgate, or how I could fix it please let me know.

Not sure who I have left but I am around.

  5. Very unfortunate ending. I had a situation in one playoff series where it kept de syncing. Like 5x, I was down by 2 and had to keep adding time to try to get it right from when it desynced. I can say that I felt guilty asking for something like that. Hard for me to imagine Seth arguing like this unless it was pretty ridiculous.

AJ's flip flopping points to some rationalization that he knows it was at least questionable. Why else would be agree even for a second to give the goal back.

That being said, this is pure gossip and I know nothing. So why am I even commenting?

also there is a difference between things in the game and those not in the game. Goalie lock, stupid but part of the game. Penalty shots after poke check also in the game. Glitch goals (got scored on by two yesterday in two games) also in the game.

lag is not. It doesn't deserve comparison to those other issues, except maybe the 0 second glitch goal.

  6. Yes, I would try to press C as little as possible in that scenario. The goalies tend to do well without the save animation and even if they allow a rebound they can react instantly.

I never press anything but the arrow pad with my goalie or an occasional A to dive at a player to mix it up.

  7. Seth is a cb check machine.

Wally, aiming for the puck with b checks is essential although I find myself doing it less than I used to, that is where the timing thing comes in.

One thing: Can I get some clarification on B-checks? I am definitely guilty of overusing C checks (and missing and being out of position) and under using B checks, but that is because B checks don't seem to work that well? (No doubt because I am doing something wrong.)

What is the desired outcome of a good B-Check? (The player gets knocked down, the player cough up the puck, or maybe you just jostle the player and interrupt his skating?)

Can any player do an effective B-check, or are some players more suited? (Please don't let there be some weight bug type of thing.)

How do you execute a good B-check? Are you aiming for the puck? Or treat it like a C-check (try to nail the body) but you use B? Can you do them on angles or from behind?

B checks can go for the puck, the main time I use the puck as a target is when you do 'the dance' where I am defending, but I am facing my own goal (diagonally), to avoid a check a player will skate up my back, now if they have a heavy player and the angles are right, I am screwed because they can skate all the way in, but as long as they have to change direction from the diagonal line, I can turn towards them and b check the puck away.

The desired outcome is to mess up the other player from doing what he wants to do. Ideally it creates a turnover, but it can also stop a goal or just create a loose puck, all which are better than the alternatives.

  8. I think I explained it pretty well. When the frames drop to zero, you hit the button. It worked like black magic for the first ten times I did it, but lately it hasn't worked as well. Nonetheless, it has still worked more than it hasn't.

It is before the game drops you hit the button.

  9. The negative values are just meant to confuse people into betting more. -130 is the same as +77.

    Bet $130, and you'll win $100. Bet $100, you'll win $77.

Anyway, the odds are too low for me to put a bet! If you really think all 11 people are nearly likely to win, the odds should be closer to +1000 or so.

Interesting point. Counterpoint is with moneyline win loss bets, it is easy to see the spread when it is listed, +300/-350

  10. Yes, please!!!

I have a couple quibbles about some of the placement but I'll keep it to myself. No sense giving anyone extra motivation.

I'd have to agree with me being the preseason favorite, LA can be weird to work with but it's one of the most talented teams I've had in my possession since...2011? Been a good while to say the least.

My value bets go to EA and Zalex. EA should be dangerous with all that offense in his hands and Zalex with Dallas seem like a good match. They D up and suit his counter attack play perfectly. If he converts his chances, fuhgetta about it.

I agree with the first sentence. I think a couple of the middle odds are more prohibitive underdogs than Raph does but I may be wrong about that. I am still regretting not taking LA.
