  1. I'd be on board with anyone saying Rinne is the best goalie in the NHL right now. It's hard to compare goalies because they're always under different circumstances. I'd put Lund with the Rangers right there with Rinne. But,,,, Rinne did not steal that series vs the Wings. I'd say Quick for LA has had more of an influence on the series with Van then Rinne had in his.
  2. I just watched the so called Crosby vs Giroux fight. It's hard to say anybody won a fight when they're involved in something that doesn't qualify as a fight lol. That was not a fight and nobody won or lost. If that had been a scheduled boxing match both guys would have stepped into the ring and then stepped out lol
  3. 1st series win in 10 years for the Blues ;-) The city was one big party last night. I would tip my hat to SJ but I hate them and they suck lol, It is a little ironic that Perron got the game winner to finish off this series. Looking like we'll get LA next round which means more staying up to midnight ughh
  4. Maybe this is the end of Detroit's dynasty. I don't look for them to fold up camp and become the Detroit Thrashers. But maybe they could miss the playoffs in the next few years. I'd guess this is the last of Lidstrom. Not going to replace him. Holmstrom may hang up the skates as well. Phoenix and the Blues set their sites on round 2 tonight.
  5. I call BS. The commish can do what he damn well pleases to do. Also I'm not saying Goodell is some saint and has every answer. But he's at least not afraid of his bosses (The NFL owners). What do you think the Saints owner thought of Goodell kicking the head coach out for a year along with their GM for 6 months? I've been watching hockey since 1980. I'm almost 100% sure there has never been one game where I didn't say "wtf is he calling?" or "wtf where's the penalty?". Every hockey fan bitches about the refs. This is just one of the NHL's problems. The players no longer respecting each other enough is another. There's always been dirty players. They still only got away with so much because the players took care of it. Now the players still police themselves to an extant. But this mockery of Bettman + Shanny with their discipline is a joke of all jokes. As a hockey fan I don't like seeing Hossa carted off the ice. And I get the whole leaving your feet is a big no no now. But it was still a check at least. Scott Stevens has to be thinking God every day he got out of the NHL before this era. Undoubtedly some of Stevens' hits were dirty. The one on Lindros was pretty much all elbow. But back then all you heard was "he had his head down". It was the same for Hossa to the extent he had his head down. I have a bigger problem with the blatent shots to players heads. And the random discipline that goes with it. The penalties aren't even close to severe enough. It's a joke. 2500 to an NHL guy is like 5 dollars to me. Start kicking these guys out for a year minimum and I guarantee 100% you'll see a massive decline in all this bs. I don't really think of Thornton as a dirty player. He has some buddies on the sharks that hold that title. But his hit on Perron cost Perron over a year of playing time. Not only that but it always looms that maybe it's just one more head hit to Perron and his career is done. Thornton got a 2 game suspension for this. 2 games, really? He could have blasted Perron from the side and checked his body and I would have been fine with it. But he clearly targets his head. If I was commish Thornton would be gone for 2 years minimum. Check this elbow out from Burns this year on Nichol. That was in game 2 of the series going on now. Burns got a 2 minute penalty and that's it. Not even a hearing. I mean wtf is going on in the NHL? Is that not a clear attempt to injure the head? The idiot folds his arm in two to use his elbow as a weapon. If I was watching MMA it's all good but this is supposed to hockey. The list goes on and on and on and on of this crap. Like I said, nothing changes till the NHL gets tough with suspensions and they keep it consistent. One more rant as icing on the cake. Get rid of the f'ing shootouts.
  6. If you have a problem with Shanny, (which I do) put all your blame on Bettman. He's the spineless coward who won't even get involved in the discipline process. He's a useless commish. Get rid of of both of them and get a real commish who has the fortitude to start handing out actual penalties for head hunting. Maybe Goodell has a brother. While you're at it, get rid of the stupid instigator penalty.
  7. Tampa Bay First Line G-Ed Belfour #30 LD-Gerald Diduck #4 RD-Vladimir Malakhov #23 LW-Claude Lemieux #22 C-Gary Roberts #10 RW-Cliff Ronning #7 X-Brian Noonan Second Line LW Brian Noonan (change to #18) C Darrin Shannon RW-Jari Kurri #17 LD-Calle Johansson #6 RD-Mark Howe #4 (change to #2) G-Vincent Riendeau
  8. They're one in the same. If it wasn't a lop sided trade the commish would not have slapped the veto on it. Start a poll and see how many people would make that trade had they been in Iceguy's shoes.
  9. Homework in what regards? Are you saying that I made a mistake with the player's ratings? I just double checked and the ratings are correct. If you're implying I should be up on Smoz's calculated projections then you missed the point of my post. I clearly said, just based on overall ratings the trade is out of balance.
  10. Seriously I'll hitch a ride on the veto train. That's a lopsided trade if you only look at the overall numbers. Shanahan = 76 Carson = 76 for Mogilny = 96* Francis = 75 Seriously?
  11. Yeah King's line of F's Selanne Neely Robitaille, ... that's a potent line Glad he's in A ;-)
  12. To Dallas Cam Neely + Pick 5.12 To Tampa Bay Gary Roberts + Cliff Ronning
  13. I'm betting a jalapeno beer brat that Zalax doesn't get his pick in today anyway.
  14. I'd have to see the ratings on CC CC sounds like he could be of the opposite gender too, so CC would have to undergo a physical.
  15. Xdeath is protecting K. Hatcher also, so you can add that to the list.
  16. I'm guessing I would have anyway. Had I taken Oates or someone higher than Neely I figure Neely would have gone some what quick. Then I would have protected Messier that way also.
  17. I made sure with Smoz that was part of the rules. If you draft someone on your team from last year you then get to protect a player as well. It's the same as if Neely had been drafted by someone else then my protect kicks in. Except I'm the one drafting Neely.
  18. TB picks Cam Neely and protects Mark Messier.
  19. Also, can we make trades for future considerations? Like can I get Xdeath's 1st round pick for a future consideration of a cheeseburger? I may throw in some future fries in as well.
  20. When we get to the 2nd round, can you draft people that haven't been protected yet? Say just for example that King you pick 3rd and I pick 2nd. In the 2nd round could I draft a player from your team from last year since you haven't protected them yet??
  21. Get with it Canadianfan,, like watching paint dry Don't take Garth Butcher either!! Dibs has been called.
  22. In A I'd say King vs Carse final. In C I haven't played any of them so I'll go with who King voted for. If the King says the guy is good he must be. In B who knows. It should be a ton of fun though. A huge thanks goes to Chaos & Halifax. Thanks buds!!
