  1. Yeah...I'm gonna get an NHL AIM name, once I find a program that will clone AIM and let me run 2 names at once :)

I do have a name set though. When I find a cloner, the NHL AIM name for me will be ScottStevensNJD4.

EDIT: Found one, I'm on that name now.

  2. The race to avoid the cellar seems to be over now. Despite a split with the Jets, the Devils will finish in last place on goal difference. Even though they hold the series with Quebec, it is assumed that the Nordiques will get at least one more point. On that note, here are the bottom 4 with New Jersey's season complete.

Quebec has goal differential working in their favor, but lost the season series to the Devils. Again, it is assumed that Quebec will take at least one point from their final 3 games, all against the Maple Leafs.

Gilmour's 50th Helps Devils to Split, But Not Out of Cellar

Well, at least it's finally over.

The Devils season ended the same way it started, with a loss. After taking a shock 4-3 OT win over the Jets at the Brendan Byrne Arena in their final home game of the year on the wings of Doug Gilmour's 50th goal of the season, they drop their finale 4-1 in Winnipeg, giving them a split of the hard-nosed Jets, and ending a season full of frustration, heartbreak, depression, and anger. The fans who were calling for coach Tom Delgado's head finally got it after the 4-1 defeat, as he announced to the media that he was leaving his dream job effective immediately.

"There has been no improvement this season. I'm extremely disappointed that I only got 7 wins out of these guys. The kind of stuff we did out on the ice all year is NOT how winning is done. With that, someone who knows how to win should be brought in. Therefore, I resign as head coach of the New Jersey Devils, effective IMMEDIATELY. You guys got what you wanted. You got the underdog out of here. I have nothing more to say about the team, the season, or anything else. Get the hell out of my way, I'm done with you people" Delgado said, angrily shoving his way out of the arena and to his car. Most Devils fans will not forget the way he celebrated the team's 1st win of the season, rushing out on the ice and demanding the game puck from the ref, then getting splashed with Gatorade...and being frozen on the bench for 3 days, with New Jersey police having to thaw him out.

Delgado's Nightmare Season Ends, Resigns Immediately After

  4. I'm not going to torture myself with anymore 9-0 beatings until I can find a place that sells controllers and doesn't charge my entire wallet for shipping, so I'm giving my notice before this season ends.

Gonna spend the time practicing for the Spring league and finishing my NHL 94 - Director's Cut hack instead. Good luck with Season 2, if you need a GM in the middle of that season, lemme know.

  5. Tampa won another game and got another point, putting New Jersey back in the cellar. It looks like this now.

Remaining Schedules In the Great Escape

    Edmonton

    @ Philadelphia

    @ Toronto

    Tampa Bay

    @ Toronto (2)

    Quebec

    Toronto

    @ Toronto (2)

    New Jersey

    Winnipeg

    @ Winnipeg

From looking at the remaining schedules, it looks like New Jersey has the toughest road to travel if they want any shot at making the great escape. Scribe's Jets will play extremely hard despite not having anything to play for, while takeyourpill's Flyers are playing for playoff momentum and positioning.

  6. Me and CamKneely did a test of the online play today, and it passed after we figured out what we were doing :D

Penguins (CamKneely) d. NY Islanders (SSiG) 3-1

    Goalscorers

    Mike Bossy (NYI)

    Evgeni Malkin (PIT)

    Mario Lemieux (PIT, 2)

Only had 2 penalty minutes, so the action seems slick and fast paced. Not to toot my own horn, but this is the most fun I've had in a losing effort in a long time :P

On development notes, Columbus is going to be the next team to get done, along with some minor ratings tweaks. Some Western Conference juggernauts are next on my to-do list. Detroit, Dallas, Colorado, and San Jose are due up soon.

    ETA: February 2007

  7. Update. I'm getting help from CamKneely on ratings, so hopefully within the next week or so, the input of players will be stepped up. I'll be in Atlantic City tomorrow, so no work will be done, but when I get back into the swing of things on tuesday, I will continue to put players in and put ratings in. If you want to help, just IM me on AIM (Magus978), or send me an e-mail with the team you wanna give me ratings for.

  8. Race to Avoid Last Place

    15. edisaurusrex (QUE) 7-40-0-5, 19 points *4 games left*

    16. jj2k (EDM) 7-41-0-3, 17 points *5 games left*

    17. Magus978 (NJ) 6-42-0-5, 17 points *3 games left*

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    18. DaDonch44 (TB) 7-43-0-2, 16 points *4 games left*

Quebec should avoid last place easily, but the dogfight to stay out of the cellar will be between Edmonton, New Jersey, and Tampa Bay. Edmonton is playing with a lot of guts lately, and New Jersey has gone to the backups, so it looks like it'll come down to the last day's worth of games for both New Jersey and Tampa Bay.

I figure one more win will secure non-last place status for either New Jersey or Tampa Bay, considering their records as of late, especially New Jersey's miserable 3rd double-digit losing streak of the season, currently at 11 *estimate*.

  9. In the Devils' past few games, you may have noticed a few different faces out there. Yes, that's not Doug Gilmour playing center. That's veteran 2nd liner Paul Ysebaert getting a crack at the first line, along with Jari Kurri and Adam Graves. The reason? New Jersey has nothing to play for, and can't really move up. Coach Tom Delgado figures there's no reason to stretch his forward starters out any further, so he has been giving the reserve forwards more ice time in hopes of finding enough to re-draft them next season. "If I can bring Dougie back, he's coming back. The problem is with the rest of these guys. I need to see something out of Jari, Paul, and Adam to make me want to draft them again" Coach Delgado told the media after a lengthy hihatus from talking to them after games. New Jersey is currently 9th in the Wales Conference, at 6-42-0-5, good for only 17 points, and just 1 point clear of the Wales cellar, currently inhabited by Tampa Bay. "Position doesn't matter to us anymore, we know we're gonna finish at the bottom. No sense in trying to fight it, so I'm getting a look at our reserves now to see if there's any potential left for this group of guys."

  10. well, it's basically the best 80's, 90's, and modern day players for each team, and a few of my personal picks

Hence why Doug Gilmour will be both on the Devils and Maple Leafs, and why Wayne Gretzky will be on the Oilers, Kings, and Rangers.

No 70's and earlier players allowed. This is the best and rest of the past 20 + years of NHL hockey.

  11. You gotta be careful about what you say.

wboy has spent so much time doing NHL 94-related stuff for us hack makers. Anything that's construded into an insult his way isn't cool. I know this ain't the thread for it, but I personally would like to thank wboy for all his work on Nose and how much easier it has made my work on the Director's Cut of NHL 94! Much love to ya wboy, and to all the hack makers. We can't let these kinds of misunderstandings break out.
