  1. For those interested, here is HOW the draft order was determined. I divided the league into 4 groups. Group 1 got 4 balls to start each round. Group 2 got 3 balls, Group 3 got 2 balls, & Group 1 got 1 ball. If you picked top 4 in previous round, you had 2 balls subtracted from your count (4 went to 2, 3 to 1, but couldn't go below 1). If you picked from 5th-8th in previous round, you had 1 ball subtracted from your count. Each round, the balls were reset to 4, 3, 2 or 1 based on your group. So, Skip with limited balls in the pool, landed the Top #1 pick. He then had only 1 ball in the next round, and based on those low odds, landed pick 2.16. For the most part, the odds worked out. Exceptions/variations make the draft more fun for all.

  4. In baseball simulators, one of the greatest teams in all sports is the 1927 NY Yankees. What makes them great was how much better they were then the next best team on multiple levels. Its almost impossible to find a team with a larger statistical gap between them & the rest of the league. It's not that they would be great talent wise compared to other teams from different eras, just compared to their own league at that time. Reason I mention them is using the high tech simulators they have these days, &&& the goofy wild card playoff setup of MLB of today, the 1927 Yanks have a 30% of winning the World Series win you run the simulators vs their own league that they dominate. So, the "best" does not always win , even in simulators. Trying to remove the "factors" that diminish the value of some wins in a tourney that you could point to as "lucky" or "random, is a noble cause. Going more games doesn't always produce more verified results. Basically, I'm not knocking Plabax very real criticisms of a one day tourney, but at some time, you HAVE TO give credit to those who actually won the real life event over the one who was supposed to win. giants are the SB champs, USA hockey vs Ussr , etc. Bragging rights always go to the guy who actually showed up & won.
  5. For which league? The ones from Retro are there
  6. I'd like everyone to imagine this conversation with Royalmenow subbed in for JLnhlsegafan & then try to imagine not jumping into oncoming traffic next chance you get.
  7. Odds are, looking like an extended preseason due to holidays hitting at the same time as 2 other leagues wrap up. I don't want a league start up to f-up one or two other endings or to have low participation at the beginning of our season from holidays & have to be chasing slackers. Because we do have 15 coaches, & a 2 week preseason probably, I'd likely leave the season at 28 games. That's also still a week plus a few days longer than previous leagues for everyone except Tex!
  8. Consider this thread closed. Use the Welcome thread to post/comment/join wait list from here on out.
  9. Welcome! Here is the list of our coaches. Those looking to join from here on out, are welcome to put their name on the wait list. #1 Brutus St Louis Blues #2 Lupz New York Rangers #3 Skip Quebec Nordiques #4 Tex Dallas Stars #6 Dicion Chicago Blackhawks #7 Labs Pittsburgh Penquins #8 Chefstar Philadelphia Flyers #9 J&J Tampa Bay Lightning #10 Jer33 Toronto Maple Leafs #11 AquaLizard LA Kings #12 Atomic Raven Calgary Flames #13 Quetzalcoatlus Edmonton Oilers #14 Flatcrusher Winnipeg Jets #15 CoachMac Hartford Whalers #17 Kevin77 San Jose Sharks #18 jmj Anaheim Mighty Ducks This ROM was created by Plabax. Here are it's features. Classic rules for weight (NO WEIGHT BUG FIX) C/B is enabled, just as in Classic. NO PENALTIES. They are disabled, EXCEPT normally when you disable penalties, the B check no longer works. IN THIS ROM, B check is hacked to work with the penalties OFF. SO, B Check enabled, Penalties Off. The delay in time it takes to switch to goalie is shortened, just as in the Blitz ROM. Goalie ratings also will have the additional Blitz league boosts to goalie ratings of +1 to agility and glove upgrades for every goalie except Roy/Eddy. Y button enabled, allowing like in SNES, where you instantly switch to goalie after hitting Y button with no delay. The RANGE a goalie can extend to while in manual control is increased, as in Blitz. More freedom to move around. The ratings at the start of the game will be displayed ACCURATELY and will be static (the same each time, in Classic, your players ratings can vary from game to game). Offsides OFF, Icing ON, Line changes OFF. The static, goalie switch & goalie range are things that Blitz used and Plabax chose to put them into his ROM for Plablegs 1. Given we are naming the league Plablegs 2, I am going with his same setup on the rom. RULES: There will be no divisons, just one league. Play each man 2 times, one at home, one on the road, for a total of 30 games. Season length yet TBD, but assuming 3 1/2 weeks for now. I will post cut off deadlines for slackers, etc after everything is finalized. PLAYOFFS: Currently, I am thinking of this setup. Top 6 teams make playoffs for certain. The rest, is going to be based off of participation of the league. SO, IE, if everyone plays all their games, we will setup up a Winners/Losers Playoff setup. If there are some hard core slackers/DNP's, instead of scrambling for replacements, I will likely just go with a 6 team playoff and enable a few play in series for anyone BELOW 6 seed. Maybe 7 vs 10, 8 vs 9, and winners make up 1-8 playoffs. MOST IMPORTANTLY, playoffs will not linger on long. 3 weeks MAX.
  10. FYI, I'm acutally on the fence about CPU teams for the draft. I am voting BOTH ways in my mind as of now. For those wondering what that means, instead of after each coach makes their pick in Rd1 of 15 picks, we head to round 2, a set number of CPU teams would then auto pick before we went to Round 2. I'd use some formula announced up front for how those teams would pick. Basically, when Round 2 started, there would be say 20 players taken, but us humans would have drafted 15 of them. The CPU teams would be available for during exi's, but not involved at all in league play. Players taken by CPU would obviously then NOT be involved in the league for stats/usage/trades, etc.
  11. Ok, the POINT of these poll questions is to see where this motley combo of coaches minds are sitting, and make sure as a group, we move in the direction of the majority. Aside from my own final say, I try to listen to the masses and base decisions of this. IF you are in the league, please vote. IF you are not in the league but like taking polls, knock your socks off Votes are public, so we will see end results.
  12. Very excited to welcome back Dicion & eager to see what Quetz is made of.
  13. Also, for those not signed up for the Plablegs 2, sign up will be closing soon.
  14. So, I was thinking of setting up a 2v2 style Sunday night type thing, at set times, towards the evening/night. (Sunday seems best but open to other nights as well, maybe Wednesday, etc.) Also, this could run every OTHER Sunday night, to make it easier to get enough guys to commit to a schedule and also not be too time intrusive, as it is ideal as a side setup) My thought would be each week during the regular weekdays we try to set up pairs for that weekend to have commitments, and have a preset schedule to play with a ROM using different teams with different player ratings, instead of every player as the same rating, to give it long term variety. I'd imagine we could keep a log for say 10 Sunday nights. Exi's could be played on other nights, but only on league night would games count for standings. IE, Lupz & Brutus vs Raph & Coach. 2-3 games, you pre-select your teams ahead of time, and we keep a game log in a Google Doc. After 2-3 games are done, switch it up. This prevents say 5th/6th guys from getting iced out of playing too long and prevents the player pool from staying the same 4-5 guys. The teams on the ROM would not be even, so there would be adjustments each game on play style based on which team you have and who gets to use what player on that team. Google doc would keep standings for individual coaches records and team records to see which combo has the best success. Maybe some sub set of rules like you can't use the same team twice as a pair until you've used all the teams together, but if I've played with Chicago w/ Lupz, I can still use Chicago w/ Coach on my team, etc. This is something that has NO DNP's, no deadlines and very limited commitment, so it should NOT tie up other leagues. Anyone interested, think it's a good idea? Think it's a bad idea? Has a better idea for something on the light side? (Also, my vote would be to make up a cool 2v2 ROM that is WBF w/ Plabax B check edited in and have each team some combo of All Time greats, but I'm open to suggestions/ideas for this. Again, I also couldn't be more adamant that it's only one night a week, or one night every OTHER week, to make it mean more and also not get in the way of other leagues/make sure guys show up)
  15. Curious if there is a 2v2 ROM that enables Plabax's B check, since 2v2 is played with penalties off and B check doesn't really work. Also, is there a ROM for 2v2 that has it setup with players having different skill sets, instead of everyone having the 4/4/4/4/4/4 same setting? Just wondering because I don't play 2v2 because I don't like not being able to check or have everyone player with the same skill sets.
  16. ANYONE who is new looking to join, feel free. A few requirements. #1 Minus Coach, who does NOT have a cell phone, I require you give up your cell to me. Mandatory. No one in my leagues hasn't done so. I don't share them, but I do text during drafts if you aren't responding or go slacking. It's saved numerous drafts and I'm not a spammer, but it does work. I also figure out when guys are awake/asleep, so I don't text Chef & the morning crew late at night, and don't bother the night owls at 8 am. #2 Drafts run all day/night. There is no waiting 2 days to make a pick. No holding things up. #3 Guys offer trades, and you need to be ready to accept/counter/reject them, or state you don't like trading etc. We generally jam through a draft in my leagues and then have a nice pre-season ROM a few weeks before the real season starts. It gives guys a chance to make trades and get used to their teams before the real games/stats begin.

  18. Ok, original post was here:
  19. So I previously posted I was going to start Plablegs 2 if we had enough interest. We never hit the quota I needed at that time so I shelved it but we are good to go now. I will work on combining the posts later on today. I'll list the guys who are already stated they are in, confirm it through Discord & then take new coaches. if you are behind in more than one league, struggling to get games in the league(s) you are currently signed up for, I'll probably not let you in. Im assuming the talent pool will be void of some of the previous elite A's, but we will enjoy our time regardless.
  20. I'll be sending my $20 as soon as I log into my paypal account. Appreciate all of Chaos work big time! I'll try to do something fun for tseason 4. Always seems to get guys in the mood for a draft for sure.
  21. Would love some of the new guys to update this thread with how they got their forum names. Update on my name. I originally mentioned Brutus was an old D&D name of mine, but HOW it got combined with Khan went like so... When my ex was pregnant with my oldest son, she had some really odd, queer names she was dead set on, none of which I was going to have my boy wearing. She refused to negotiate and pick a name we both liked. So, in an argument one day, I said, F-it. I want to name my kid Ghenghis Khan. She laughed, not taking my name threat serious. Said it sounded like a venereal disease, even if it once belonged to a ruthless leader. So, I countered with, "Ok, then I want Brutus Khan!" She could instantly see the light in my eyes, and how much I liked this name. Suddenly, agreeing on a name was no longer important to me. I had something to TORMENT her with! (Yeah, I know I'm sick in the head.) Every time for the next 3 months it came up, I would boom out, "BRUTUS KHAN", and leave the room followed by screams of torment. At the end, she ends up having to be put under for a C section, emergency delivery, kid's lucky to come out alive ordeals. She is still out hours later, and I'm holding my son with the mother-in-law sitting across the hospital room. In walks the nurse with the birth certificate, and asks me to fill it out. As I'm putting the ink from the pen onto the paper, I look up across the room with a devilish smile at my mother-in-law, who is all to aware of my arguments with her daughter. She let's out a blood curdling "NOOOOOO!" and flies across the room, only to find out I'm not as sick in the head as I was leading on to be. Needless to say, from that day forward, everything I logged into became Brutus Khan.
  22. Looking for a different thread of mine and this one popped up! Lololol. Somehow it morphed into Plabax not marrying
  23. I knew I'd get a book out of Plabs on that one!! Seriously, there is a video of Plabs vs someone in some finals using CB and it's obvious the other guy doesn't know WTF is going on. I think it's Frey, but I'm old and my memory is not what it is. Still, one of those titles comes with an asterisk in my book. Online, dudes definitely use any edge to win. I've often enjoyed taunting the kid for it, and shortly after I did, the lag spikes vs him stopped Not sure if he ever did when he was way more competitive/ jonesing for titles or not. Clearly, not at the end. That said, I've never been half as good as him, and he clearly drafted a lower ranked team and also never tried to create a super team. Big kudos for his work on finding CB, big kudos for setting up Plablegs and the non-penalty league. I've never held his jockstrap in this game. He still puts up the WORST WORST WORST arguments on any forum I've read. Horrible logic pattern in that head.
  24. Don't let the nerd push you around! Also, for those not aware, Plabax used to use a LAG SWITCH, which greatly increased his playoff winning percentages. It was after this was discovered, and his controversial retirement that suddenly, his greatness has been put into question. AND, the guy who FOUND the C/B trick is Plabax, and he used it for over a full season and won a title before sharing it, but part of his "glory" was with a clear advantage I think Frey? didn't know about. I mean, 1 million kudos to the kid to finding a bug in the game 20 years later that noone else had and using it to his advantage. BUT in the debate of straight skill, Plabax was more like Belichick, using all the edges to win, but they become tainted. Can't take away the trophies though, or the lack of class
