  1. Yeah, that's funny you mention the playoff hockey. In a recent AIM chat w/ Uncle Seth, I was explaining to him the differences between the two games, as he knew I'd been playing SNES of late, and we've played hundreds of GENS exhibs. I told him, a) I like the GENS better, playing SNES is better than NOT playing GENS (weird set of words, but it can be hard to get a game on GENS of late) And C) SNES FEELS more like a hockey game on the SNES version, but when actually break down the "why", it really isn't for "hockey" reasons. Yet somehow, it does feel more like hockey. In fact, I think this reason might be why the dudes who play SNES might be a better crop of dudes, as they tend to be less video gamers and more hockey gamers. I am way too new to the NHL94 community to really make this statement with any certainty or really, with much of a right to have the opinion, as online communities I'm sure change every so often, and maybe GENS was the uber cool dudes once, and SNES was a stack of dickheads before! Who knows, let the rage debate run on.
  2. I think if you were to honestly compare the two games, GENS is the cleaner version of a head-to-head smash style hockey game, which is what these games are. Neither would effectively hold up to any kind of simulation based criticism/evaluation, so to try to compare GENS against real hockey is retarded, cause again, BOTH FAIL any analysis. In essence, you are playing PAPER, ROCK & SCISSORS at a high speed pace magically tossed inside some hockey rules. If you do this & I do that, I win. If I guess this way, and you guess that, you win, etc. So, to me, the GENS game is more "ridiculous" with out being NBA JAM ridiculous, and the SNES is less crazy. I've played both, and currently enjoy playing the SNES much more because the buds are around to play more often, more consistently & seem to be better type of dudes to play with. That could just be the current online situation. Perhaps 2 years ago, GENS was the more properly flavored group of online dudes. I 100% think that 98% of anyone who played a version for more than a year is probably going to prefer the original way he learned how to play, because make no mistake about it, they play completely different.
  3. Hopefully, your new name loses its Brutus-bane mojo.
  4. Yeah, watch the Mighty Ducks coach. Raph will crush him 20-1 every game!! Might Ducks. Trying to get coach JACKED up to make a glorious playoff run, not fag out.
  5. Rocky V & VI were left off on purpose!!!
  6. Quote Mr. T at least once a game is mandatory as well.
  7. Coach, you need to rent Rocky 1-IV along w/ Miracle, and Mystery Alaska for good measure to get yourself all good & motivated for those playoffs. Take down Raphy, Brutus & carry home a trophy!!!
  8. Just make sure Lucy doesn't yank the ball from Charlie Brown again!! (Nancy/Lucy, close enough)
  9. I've been in 3 small leagues. The 1st one, I was a sub in Mac's '93 league. That was a lot of fun, but Nancy quit in the finals, so it kind of had a sour ending. The 2nd one, a small draft with Seano, who I have since re-named Sean_out, as he didn't even play his games, and he was the commish!! 4 of the 6 guys played their games, and it was fun, until the league just becomes defunct. The 3rd one, is this one. '93 again w/ Mac. Needed a few replacements, and most of the guys got right on their games, so no delay from pre-season, heavy action right away, etc. The one sub was able to be found right away, and most of the guys are finishing their games fairly ahead of schedule. However, Mav doesn't seem to want to finish his games early, which is fine, as a schedule was setup, so the league is to drag towards the end, and might even end up with some un-played games. Overall, less guys gives you less chance to have MIA & all that, but when the guys do go MIA, it hurts much more. And, to me, the league always seem to be based off the guy running it more than anything. He controls the rules, who gets in, who stays in, and all the schedules.
  10. My roster is locked. No moves being made regardless of cuts. Loyalty has its rewards in Camp Brutus.
  11. In case Mac doesn't check the group chat, Chicago 3-0 Ranger 0-3 Chicago 29 goals Rangers 18 goals Chicago 0-3 fights Rangers 3-0 fights Chicago one very gay fight w/ Neely that ended in a tie cause he grabbed Domi's hands over & over & over!!
  12. I like the idea of a guy's skills changing in game based on the situation. Also, if Toughness type skill was related to if a guy is getting hit a lot, how he responds. Cause some guys get nasty back, get more penalties, other guys start to play elite, and some guys just run & hide. And vice-a-versa, some guys when you don't hit them, start to really get their juices going and light up the candle. That's probably a whole lot of game code changes, so it's not really a one "skill" rating being added, but more of a follow up to marchawg's "clutch" rating comments.
  13. They can make changes at any time as far as I'm concerned, but I'm not making the edits!! Figure both helped us out in a JAM, and what we can do in return to get them through is only fair. I think if Raphy is dropping '93 Fedorov though, I might want to make a claim :) At least let him & Kashim hash that out.
  14. I coming off my Classic D loss to you & Classic A choke job to VC, my playoff confidence is at a real low. I'm smelling another upset.
  15. YES! That one loss is really starting to upset me right now. MOTHEOFMEOFJEOFEIFEMFWEMFWOEFJKEWOFMJer.
  16. Oh wait, that says Rangers. Darn.
  17. Replacing Blitz? Cause I never liked him anyway.
  18. I gathered that part. I was more asking when are they drawing. I was thinking this would be a good quick warm-up before puck dynasty, not a mid-season tourney
  19. So, when does it pick which teams we will play with?
  20. That means Coach Mac is not held "suspect" for his lack of proper commissioner background checks!!! Come on coach! Last year, Nancy quits in the finals, and this year, you got Unsantiy quitting mid-season. You are starting to lose some of your mystique there bud
  21. I don't think he needs practice. I think he hates playing the league's version of the '93 game. He clearly had some of the best skill set in the league when I played him, and his team didn't seem to mesh well w/ his style because I don't think he was aware of the effect of the weight bug fix in a draft. I AM very surprised to see someone NOT know we were drafting line changes, but log in & do an entire draft!!>!@K!:@LK# I don't know if swearing off joining other leagues is really necessary as much as reading all the rules prior to signing up for a league. I wouldn't mind seeing dude finish out a league games, as it's only a small amount left anyhow.
  22. chicago 6-0, washington 0-6 chicago 63 goals, washington 15 goals chicago 1-0-3 on the fights, washington 0-1-3
  23. In an effort to increase my snes skills, I signed up.
  24. Aside from needing more cowbell (something that could basically be said for just about every song ever recorded!!), this beauty needs to get some love & attention here. Put it on the main menu!!! Definitely, if we had a "live auction" room some day, it would have to be playing in the background musac style.
  25. That said, even if not truly statistically relevant, it would be a LOT OF FUN to post injuries & who knocked them out & for how long on a thread, and of course who your opponent you crunched was
