  1. does anybody want to betatest? I'm getting close, here. I'll probably keep plugging away slowly over the next four days, or so, and then once every playoff team has had at least one game played, I'll set the lines and be "done" enough for a proper release. what I could use is somebody to flip through and check spelling, jersey numbers, handedness, weights... that kind of stuff. please let me know if you'd like to help in any way. I could still use ideas for the remaining booklet pages, too. holler.

  2. ....you don't need to see that exact number in the program....

it seems like he DID need to see it to find it, as detailed explanations weren't getting him there. sometimes an introduction to a new concept needs to be simplified, not complicated. I'd guess your exposition into accurate examination of the issues at hand may makes sense to him by this time next year, but he was clearly getting frustrated with an inability to see the address in the sidebar, preventing him from delving into the hex data, generally. hopefully having found it will bring him closer to understanding the hex arrangements in the future.

  3. I was banned from this place for suggesting an option of suicide for an angrily argumentative member, but y'all are free to have at me with no repercussions. "eugenics" is a bit strong, don't you think? was it your suggestion that "instant" goalie is a bad improvement because it can never really be instantaneous, or are you just letting my opinion get you angry enough to suggest such immoral atrocities? you need to get a grip, maen.

  4. interesting concept. I'd enjoy one without the positions but with all of the numbers. this concept fits securely in the realm of "possibly possible, but surely not simple."

best case is it's possible and easy to switch on. this is unlikely, but you'd have to find the "off" switches and flip them to "on."

worst case is it's not possible for the game to handle more than, like, four such markings and it's not even set up to offer the option away from player-controlled or puck-possessing characters, therefore memory code would need to be rewritten to allow for the remaining players to be switched on, while also requiring new code to mark the rest of the active players, for some sort of hack job to strike a balance in between.

most likely its a lot closer to the harder end than the easy one, but that's not based in actually knowing the specifics of how the numbering-/position-displays are coded.

  5. okay! I tracked down the dude who runs behindthenet.ca and it turns out that he didn't know that there hadn't been an update in over a month and a half. when nhl.com switched to a new servicer and format for their statistics, it broke his formulae. it should be up-to-date by tomorrow night, so I'll get back to work on this project again very soon. I'll try to have it done for the start of the playoffs. if anybody wants to help in any way please let me know.
