  1. Sabre Dance, I don't know what a "two line pass" is.

Drezz, as far as I know, it is probably possible to bypass some or all of the intro screens without any RAM loading problems. I don't have much experience in that area, so I can't help much.

Tony, a two line pass is the most annoying thing in gaming and it doesn't even exist in the NHL anymore. It is a feature that was put in 98 that no other game in the series had. It is defined as an offside pass where a player passes the puck and it crosses two lines before being accepted by another player resulting in a whistle and a faceoff. All you have to do is attempt a long pass in 98 and you will see how it slows the game with unnecessary whistles. I would give just about anything to have this disabled. Here is a screenshot of this atrocity taking place...

  2. So, I played another game today and I forgot that certain "star" players get these deke moves too. I was playing with Mario and he had this move where he would turn sideways hold the puck and then ultimately get hammered and lose control of the puck. A further example of how EA was trying gimmicks to refresh their NHL titles.

  3. Did anyone like this function? I played a game today with the Flyers and I finished a 5 minute period game with 95 checks! There is something that I don't like about getting the puck at your own net and plowing your way to the opposition's goal while making five body checks in the process. Lindros probably had 50 checks independently. Just a dumb feature, your thoughts?...

  4. First thing, Mack thank you for getting your site back up and running. I downloaded your version of NHL 95 and it's obvious that when you did this the Sabres were still using the angry goat as their logo. I would like to use the original logo and uniform colors from the original game. Is there ans easy way to do this? Thanks in advance

  5. You do know NOSE supports 98 and when you switch to 'attributes text' - press [F3] after you've loaded your rom - you'll see these exact rating scales show in the player lists as mention in the post.

Thanks, that will be helpful when editing players. That NOSE is just full of little tricks, I'm finding it more fun to edit these games than it is to play them!

  6. Rytof, before you point the dirty finger at anyone, how about you get your emulator actually up and running. ;-)

Sabre, welcome to community. You a Gens or SNES player?

And what's up with the surge of new blood that are all about the Sabres?

    Coincidence? Maybe.

Or maybe a coordinated effort by a group of Jehovas (sp?) witnesses masking themselves as Sabre fans who play NHL94 with the sole purpose of converting us? Most likely. I've got my eye on you guys.

Thanks for the warm welcome IAmFleury'sHipCheck. I am a Gens player using Kega Fusion and I didn't mention this in my intro but I love NHL 95 (I hope I'm not lynched for that)! Yeah, I think 95 against another human is great due to the player control and ease of hitting. Although I am a new member and Sabre fan, I have been trolling the boards for quite a while now.

  7. My story...

It began with Blades of Steel, I loved the game but I was looking for something more. Then came the NHL series, the vertical play, the speed, the actual players, it was all there..I was hooked!

Lately I have been just hacking with thanks to NOSE but I still love to play. Thanks for having me!

*Edit* Any reason why this posted three times?*

  8. You could just take save states. Probably easier since you can resume a game that you didn't feel like finishing.

    btw: Your avatar is primo.

Thanks for your response and compliment clockwise. I actually switched to KEGA and now saving states seem to actually do what they're supposed to...save!
