halifax
Hey dadonch44, I saw these two features on the site. A. What is the difference between the two? B. what are the formulas that determine them?
DaDonch44
Hey Halifax, The Power Rankings are a formula created by Dmitry and I have no idea how it is calculated. I asked him and even he didn't remember completely. He just said that it was from a TSB (Tecmo Super Bowl, greatest NES game ever) league he used to run. The NHL Power Rankings I gave D the formula for and I found it on a site if I remember correctly when I was adding stuff to my program. The equation is: PowerRanking = ((Points / (GP * 2)) * GoalDifferential + Wins)
smozoma
aw, and all this time I thought it was based on performance against opposing teams, like the ESPN relative power index: http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/stats/rpi (formula is explained below the table)

You have to take into account your winning percentage, your opponent's winning percentage, and then your opponent's opponents' winning percentages.
