So this is pretty much the "Kick Off" post, start playing ASAP; would be great to have the tourney finish by Sunday the 11th. A bit about how the idea came about: Over a year ago when Wittgenstein returned to the forums he hosted the Mighty Prizes League which used Anaheim vs Anaheim every game. This fun and interesting concept influenced Shark Week. Every year Discovery Channel devotes one week to a shark-umentary marathon, known as Shark Week. This years Shark Week will be on TV from August 4th through August 11th, thus this tournament will run once a year concurrent with Shark Week devoting 1-week on NHL94.com to the San Jose Sharks. Hopefully everyone has a bit of fun, gets to play a few new coaches, and use a team they normally wouldn't otherwise use.

Actually agree with Bettman? Weird. NHL in Seattle should be a no brainer. Hopefully they will pick a mascot that will push the NCAI over the edge. This could be better for chances to expand in the east too; who knows if this could be a gateway for Quebec, Hamilton, or a second tm in Toronto to even the odds.

That McSorely & Featherson Defense was killer! loved my Blitz 6 squad: Brett Hull Pat Lafontaine Rob Reichel Teppo Numminen Steve Chiasson John Vanbiesbrk Hull had 148 pts (117G 31A) and led my team in checks. Lost to an even better team facing Houly in the finals as Bure showed his true stardom that season. GDL 9 team was very good too: Doug Gilmour Sergei Makarov Dmitri Khristich/Terry Yake Jim Johnson Tommy Sjodin Chris Terreri Lost to Raph in the playoffs, it wasn't as much me as it was Gilmour. He's that good. Some favorite tms of mine for other users: Freydey: Blitz Seasons 3&4 - Yzerman & Hull, absolutely killer. Houly: Blitz Season 6 - Pavel Bure dominated. Unfortunately, you're the only member that wants to play online without using AIM. The community uses AIM as THE MAIN METHOD of getting in touch to play games. You can continue to email and pm, but you won't get much of a response. It will be near impossible play league games, let alone run a league if you are not willing to get AIM working. Get AIM going so you aren't out of the loop for Shark Week.

Get AIM & ask someone. There are plenty of threads on the forum that explain step by step how to load roms on gens and what to do in case of an emulator crash. Ask another member in an AIM chat if there's anything that is still unclear. If there were a new thread everytime someone had a question the forum would go on overload.

Registration is closed and capped at 18. Anyone else can still sign up and will be placed on a waiting list. We will follow the 16 team format (with 2 series including seano, etownbio, chefstarr, and xxbdiddyxx with the winners going into the 16 player bracket), unless there is a strong enough push to format otherwise. Stay tuned, tournament starts Friday, August 2nd. Edit: I'll have match-ups posted by this Saturday so that everyone can have a time to coordinate a time with each other to get in their series. My suggestion is to send your opponent a private message on the forums when you check in to see the match-ups, that way any wasted time waiting for opponents online can be avoided.

the trolling is just immaturity. this is an old topic that was done and said long ago. GDL is 2 1/2 weeks in with over half the coaches knocking out checkpoints - most coaches are having fun despite any roster parity, I don't see why we need any drama or spoilage.

Well said swos - I would still think that a trade for Recchi & Klima is pretty balanced plus the variables. Like Brutus said, people are trading to build the team they are looking for - Wookie dealt out gretz cause he needed a shooter. If it is gonna cause sore feelings maybe best to do away with it.

It was a dogpile he brought to himself. Plabax didn't even know what Carse's actual trades were until I told him after he had to open up old drama again. A) It was not "just an honest suggestion", it was a typical 14 year old or "houlyesque" response to a lost series to come on the forums and create a thread to bring up old drama. TomKabs was denied mogilny because he was not losing enough skill in his deal and gaining everything, more to it than just being "a defending champ". (Carse gave up Recchi for Klima, and Bradley for Gretz with other variables in there - its not like he got Roenick/Mogiilny/Yzer straight up for the wanna be dino ciccarelli called Luc Robitaille). C) No body will listen to plabax because he is a troll who only made this thread because he had just lost to carse (we wouldn't be posting in this had he even won one of the two games). Truth is you are making this thread right after Carse swept ya, we already had to go through the trading drama once and its back here again due to your inability to handle losing (which you've admitted to). You are just trying to hide your whining as a suggestion (not to say you don't have an argument) - this said I agree with Halifax and swos. No more trading is probably the best. Old drama is old drama - no need to bring it back up. Now someone pls put a lock on this drama-keg.

Would you guys like to cap this tournament at 16 and do 1-giant NHL-playoff formatted bracket with best of 7 series? Or keep the format as described? If you guys would like to do the 16, post here and we'll take one more sign up and have everything ready to go either August 2nd or August 4th (may start a few days early so there's two full weekends to play).
