Smozoma: Well Colby Armstrong did score in Junior. A PPG guy. Mind you Biggs' scoring is half of Armstrong's. Anyway, Biggs's has only something like 5-10% chance of attaining that level. Washington just took a pick to get Brouwer, a guy who's very similar to Armstrong. Why would you bet a pick, when you can have the finished product for the same price? Drafting is about exceeding the value of your pick on the trade market. Biggs won't, unless of a Lucician miracle, where he learns he actually knows how to play hockey.

Smoz: I've made a research about 1st rounder who didn's score. After many search the line in the sand was at 4 points under the number of GP. (CHL/USHL) Out of 31 1st picks, 29 failed to become a top 6 player, and 27 failed to become a top 9 player. The only guys since 1990 to become top 6 forward in the NHL are Setoguchi and Grabner. So Toronto is basically paying for a 3rd liner at best.
