  1. I have been thinking of organizing NHL '94 Tournament with preliminary round with groups and then playoff Round, like hockey World Championships or Olympics. This would be held once a year, or once every two years. Idea in this short 2-3 weeks tournament would be to gather the best players to play, and also to unite European players with North American players. Many of the players don't have the time or interest to play in leagues with tens of games and having to spend so much time online trying to get your games played. This would be 3-7 games tournament, depending how well you play in the tournament. All games would be scheduled beforehand by the tournament! So you would know that next week you will play against your opponents for example at Monday 8.30 PM, Wednesday 6 PM and Thursday 8.30 PM. Of course the times best suited for players would be taken into consideration before the schedule is made. So you would only need to show up to play your game, and message your opponent via the tournament site. If your opponent would not show up within a specified time, you would then just win the game by default. Of course you could play the games beforehand, but the schedule would be the only thing that would be monitored. If I get enough interested elite/veteran players I could organize it. Tournament format: Tournament format would be decided on how much players are going to participate. Basically preliminary round and a playoff round. Tournament can be played with 8, 10, 14, 15, 16, 20 or 32 players. Tournament rules: North Americans generally like to play without line changes or offsides, while Europeans like to play with line changes and offsides. This could be handled with following options: - Rules would be voted by the players - Rules would alternate between years - Offsides would be Off but line changes would be On - Line changes would be Off but offsides would be On Selectable teams options: - Players could play with the teams they like. For example all could play with Chicago - Players could use all teams within the tournament, but could only use a team once. - Players could play with any team the like, but they would name one preferred team before the tournament, and they would have an option to use it against opponents in case opponent doesn't have the same team as his preferred team. In this situation home team player would have the option. Interested, or any ideas ?

(22:45:59) swos94: hey (22:46:08) canadiensfan66: hey (22:46:11) swos94: you need to go to the offset (22:46:14) swos94: it's decimal offset (22:46:19) swos94: you need to set that up in hex workshop (22:46:46) swos94: that offset is at point where the hex says FFFF 00C0 (22:47:03) swos94: go to the offset (just before the FFFF) (22:47:34) swos94: and copy the song. the song ends to 0000 FFFF (22:47:47) swos94: easiest way to copy it is to push down shift key (22:47:55) swos94: and just go down with arrows (22:48:44) swos94: then when you have copied it, the hex workshop will tell you how big area in bytes did you copy, keep that in mind (22:49:42) swos94: then when you go pasteing it over nhl94 intro song (starts at its offset and at the FFFF 00C0) paint/copy the same amount of bytes, with holding shift and using arrows (22:49:47) swos94: and then just paste it there (22:50:05) swos94: if hex workshop doesn't say anything, then it pasted the right amount of bytes (22:53:36) swos94: oh and by the way (22:53:42) swos94: dont use the one with drums (22:53:51) swos94: haven't gotten it to work with it (22:54:02) swos94: only without the drums at the beginning (22:54:13) canadiensfan66: hmm ok ill try this
  4. The finals needs to be played before we can start looking into new season. We had a meeting with GDL board and decided that there will be a new deadline for GDL Cup 6 Finals. The deadline is 24th of January, 2½ weeks from now. If by the end of that date the games still aren't played, either player will not be allowed to draft a player in the 1st round of the next GDL season they are about to participate. The contact information will also be reset. (so kgman you need to ask jrodimus to play again, even if you already have and he didn't reply to you in site) to kgman and jrodimus: you can only show you are active and try to get the games played if you contact eachother via the league site with its messaging system. If the games aren't played in time, the only way you can avoid not getting the draft penalty is to show you we're clearly trying to get the games played more than your opponent. And if you both clearly try to get the games played and contact eachother actively, the games will be played. It's as simple as that. For now the penalty is set to the not being allowed to draft in 1st round if the games aren't played in time, but after that a new time period with more penalties is possible.

  7. In my understanding it's legal to download the game for your own use as long as you own the original game yourself. Also I think downloading emulators is legal. I don't think distributing the games as a whole is legal though. For updates to be legal to distribute it would have to be done via IPS patch.

  12. come online in aim, I'll send.
  13. yeah If you need the custom playoff rom for Carse to play his home games in p2p, I can make it.
  14. I'll start it in schedule this Monday, but of course you can already play it and keep the saves, and then report it on Monday.
  15. Yeah, and as you can see this topic is made 8.15 AM. Seems like you didn't notice you actually had 4 games against eachother with shifty556. The two games you played are reported and counted.
  16. Sorry, keeping the schedule. More time to try to complete the playoffs this year. And I already had made the arrangements for playoffs before I read this

  18. New coach for LA Kings: shifty556 (aim: bigchiefjay1016 ) New coach for NY Rangers: dcicon5148 (aim: dcicon5148 ) Regular season will end in 1½ weeks. Be sure to play your remaining games with these new players and others.
  19. Yeah that may very well be the case. It's been a tradition in GDL to hand out deductions for unplayed games. I just thought it's good to let people know beforehand what's coming, so it wont come as a surprise too late.
  20. The GDL 6 regular season will end and playoffs will begin at Monday 16th November 8AM EST, 2½ weeks from now. As stated in the gametime rules: If you have unplayed games and you haven't showed activeness against your opponent during the gametime week (by contacting your opponent via the league site) YOU WILL GET POINTS DEDUCTIONS AFTER THE END OF THE SEASON! Each unplayed game will be dealt accordingly. Points deductions will be handled as follows: If player A contacted player B during the gametime, and player B didn't respond, and the game hasn't been played -> player A will get no points deductions. Player B will get 2 points deducted. If neither player contacted eachother, and the game hasn't been played -> both players will get 1 point deducted. If both players contacted eachother as an effort to get the game played, even outside the gametime, and the game hasn't been played -> either player will get no points deductions as an effort to play the game from both were made. If player A contacted player B outside the gametime, and player B didn't respond, and the game hasn't been played -> both players will get 1 point deducted. After the final points are clear, playoffs will begin with top 8 players from both conferences. In the playoffs the player who finished higher in standings can decide whether he wants to start playoffs home or away against his opponent. Notify swos if you want to start with awaygames so he can make the changes to schedule.
  21. No, but I have a better idea. This week, Week 44 (10/26 - 11/1), you have 4 unplayed games. source: http://www.students.oamk.fi/~jhonkako/nhl94/schedule_3.txt 41 CHI (nationals1) EDM (IceStorm70) 42 EDM (IceStorm70) CHI (nationals1) 43 CHI (nationals1) TB (jrodimus) 44 TB (jrodimus) CHI (nationals1) contact IceStorm and jrodimus via the site about your availability to play this weeks games against them. These games then cannot be considered ones where you were unactive and didn't try to get them played. They are considered as games played after that and your 36 will become 40.
